i think the first one i had that i shouldn't have exchange didn't, but maybe i just didn't notice it. i went to the store today in freehold, nj and checked every single iphone they had on display and they were all yellow on the bottom. although all of them were made in 923 with the exception of two that were 922, but also had the issue. what do you guys think?
Mine's black on the bottom. Just like the back, top and sides... I assume you mean the screen? Mine doesn't look yellow at all.
are you sure? go into settings, turn it to max brightness. look at the top and then the bottom really quickly.
On my first one it was still so slight that I only noticed it after I read about the problem here. I think all the iPhones have a tiny backlight difference between the bottom half and top half because of the backlight technology. Edit; to respond to the above poster, I have a 925 and can still notice it slightly. Actually, from what I've read, 924s are pretty on the money. However, if you're really looking fir it, I think you can see it on any model... Or at least fool your brain into thinking you do
are you guys sure you don't have it? turn to max brightness, go to the settings page and look quickly at top and bottom.
If it takes effort to find it, why worry about it? I never, and I literally mean never, have my brightness anywhere above 50%. It's just not necessary unless you want to admire how vivid the screen can get. I haven't done that since I bought my 1st gen back in February of last year.
my first one was a 925 and it didn't have the issue. damnit i shouldn't have returned it for the power button issue.
Mine's a 924, and it certainly is warmer than my 1st Gen's screen, but it's even all throughout. The only place that I start thinking it looks yellow is in the Settings app. If I hadn't even known about these threads about the yellowish screen, I would have never even noticed. And even now, it doesn't bother me.
turn white on black on (its under accessibility) and see if its still yellow. Mine 925 and its fine. Ive notice everyone that has a 925 seems to be fine.
First part of the serial number: example 88925 = 2009, week 25. Digits 3-5. Opps, btw mine is fine and a week 25 just for the record keepers... Dave
The one i looked at on display in the store actually seemed to have a screen like the 3g's, cool and gorgeous. It was a 16GB black. I've had 2 white 32's now that both have it... so i dunno... It's terrible.
923 here. I don't notice any yellow tinge. My 3GS is warmer than my friend's 2G, but cooler(?) than my old 3G. Perfect temp screen I guess. (for me at least) EDIT: And yes, I did go to settings and turn my brightness all the way. I also then opened my flashlight app to have an all white screen to compare. No yellow tinge at the bottom.
This defect was explained to me as follows: The light source for the screeen must be on the top. Therefore because this light must travel the whole length if the screen, but doesn't quite make it, we see yellowing.
