We get out at the end of may lol and go back early in august lol..yeah it sucks..

Umm...to call incase of emergencies, txting...what kid does not bring thier cellphone to school.....i have a life after school also so i need my cellphone by then.

First thing, Why are you guys thinking immaturely about this..when i mean between your legs, i mean between her cabs..if it were between her legs like that, the phone would not have dropped...

EDIT: Yeah...the orginal iphone is metal...can stand drops...this is plastic...chips in 2 seconds....I dont like cases nor do i have a case for it.

So, WE are acting immature. Got it.

If I wasn't on my iPhone right now, I'd have to give you my double face palm pic. Why didn't you have your phone in a case?

Who told you what to do in school?

Cell phones are a distraction, bottom line, and you shouldn't be able to bring them to school.

I entered the school into the new iPhone/iPod system:

We have the devices sync'd up to exchange, and also, an application that I have in beta testing allows homework data to be pushed to the devices :)

Landline phones still exist, and generally a school has one or two of them.

Please remove the sentences from your post that I did not quote.

LOL! So now let's have teachers and students scramble from their hiding spots/perches to find a landline in a true emergency? What if it's a fire and the landline is cut?

*Facepalm* - Common sense seems to be a real commodity these days.

you could probli manage to get it replaced for a new one just make up a problem tell them it overheats or whatever

Let's not condone committing fraud shall we? The OP knows it's his fault and his solution is to not let the phone out of his possession. There's no need to encourage him to scam his way out of it.

Given there is a landline phone in every classroom, I'd say not.

What if it's a fire and the landline is cut?

Then people would be outside the building, the jammers wouldn't work, and you could use cell phones to call 911.

You're right. Common sense DOES seem to be in short supply.

It was already stated that i did not like cases and i like it naked because of the look and feeling.....when i said immature, i said the people saying "oh...at least it was in between her legs" and "At least the phone got some"....I don't care if you hate me or not...Iv'e tried to stop trolling on all these threads for the pst few days now and all you've been is a jerk...please get off my thread if your going to troll.

kthxbye.

I guess I'm amongst those who fail to see why you would bring it in class.

As a side note on the jammers, they're trying the get that approved in my area, and claim they would work so that in an an emergency there would be a signal to dial out.

So when a true emergency arises, nobody is able to call 911.

It may surprise you to learn this, but people went to school before cell phones existed. (Before *phones* existed, as a matter of fact!)

The .0001% chance of a "true emergency" (here defined, so far as I can tell, as a situation in which one absolutely needs a phone but nobody can get to a landline) is a damn poor reason to have a generation of kids texting their way through school instead of paying attention.

Just like how cellphones are a natural part of life in this era...so is cellphones at school...cellphones are used for many other things..not just texting...or else no one would have cellphones and many companies would lose alot of money from anyone under 18 without a cellphone.

Magical.

These two responses, ladies and gentlemen, are examples of why my generation are a bunch of clueless, mindless...

Not allowed to say it here. I hate my generation.:(

Tallest Skil,
This is exactly what I was going to say about your generation. Sorry you have to be apart of it but at least you can recognize how bad it is.
I am so glad I didn't have to deal with any of the crap you guys have to when I was going through.

So tell me, then, the use of a cell phone in school during class by a child under the age of 18 other than texting.

Reality says that texting is the only use. Texting isn't learning (save learning poor grammar), so it doesn't need to be done. Why should I have to pull the dead weight of the rest of my generation who were too apathetic to either pay attention to what they were being taught or learn it themselves before they even got to that grade?

*Sigh*...i don't want to keep explaining........................I only view my text message or pull out my phone when i have free time normally by the last 5 minutes of class...This is when she seen my phone.........If you want to know the main reason i have an iPhone and not another regular "dumbphone" as many call it because i own a site which i make money from and more then the average teenage worker a month. I receive mail and other important things. I also see that in my free time. Like i said before, i use my cellphone mainly after school..this is why my battery is still at 90-95% after the end of a schoolday...I learn the material and like i said before, tell all of this to my 3.8 GPA because i learn in school and i do what i am suppose to do...Please stop telling that this whole generation is dumb....every generation changes, by technology or another feature...So every generation will look upon the next...

Teacher : Bob call 911!
Bob: How do I dial out of the school?
Teacher: Dial #56, then *656, then *56....eg...

Then people would be outside the building, the jammers wouldn't work, and you could use cell phones to call 911.

Cell phone jammers are tied to landlines? Really? Considering people wouldn't have a phone in the first place knowing that jammers exist, stands to reason they wouldn't have one in an emergency.

You're right. snip

Yes, I know.

Why do we need fire departments covering all areas? Police departments? Emergency rooms? After all, there's a .0001% of a "true emergency," right?

What a joke of an argument.

You don't need a cell phone to learn, which is what you're supposed to be doing.

The phone has a calculator, notepad and voice memo recorder on it. It also has a calendar (for homework reminders etc!) .. I could have used an iPhone when I was at school!

It could also be used for social purposes in breaks.

*Sigh*...i don't want to keep explaining........................

And I don't want to keep telling, as fun as ellipses are.

I only view my text message or pull out my phone when i have free time normally by the last 5 minutes of class...This is when she seen my phone

That's fine for you. But neither you nor I are anymore representative of our generation as a whole. Our cases are not that of the average student.

Please stop telling that this whole generation is dumb....every generation changes, by technology or another feature...So every generation will look upon the next...

...and call them dumb? No. No, I call my (our) generation dumb because... they truly are. I'm quite old-fashioned, I believe, but I see the pervasive lack of intelligence of children today. It's pathetic and deeply saddening. I am certainly not saying that it is due entirely to cell phones, but that is just one more pull away from the attention that needs to be spent in class, on work, actually learning something.

Well, if this were true, i would hate to see what the future beholds.

As would I. As would I... :(

We have people turning in papers with texting shorthand in them. Knowledge of the spelling of words with more than around seven letters is virtually nonexistent. It's just abject refusal to learn, and they expect to have the same quality of life as their parents, et. al.

Good news for us: We'll be able to get better jobs more easily because we'll have no competition.
Bad news for us: The majority of those in many occupations will be blithering idiots. :p

You act like you're the only guy in your generation with half a braincell. You're probably in my generation actually - I'm 21.

Those that don't excel at school will get jobs that require little intelligence. Those people are still needed for society to function properly! Of course, some people are lazy as well as stupid and turn to crime, but don't assume that just because somebody doesn't do well in school that they won't make something of themselves.

Yes, that is true. I know alot of people who are very smart, but just don't do much in school. Success isn't measured by the job you get, it's how well you perform at your job or goal. Some people are so blinded that they cannot see that.

I also agree text does get attention away from work and many can do alot better without text, but the way, Tallest, is explaining it, he's making it like anyone who text or isn't like him won't suceed in this world which isnt true. He also has to see that the world is changing around him and nothing will stay the same.

That's rough!

In Sweden nobody cares if your on your phone during class :p teachers have seem me on my iPhone during class and there like "can I look?"

Yep :) And money isn't everything for some people. I'm an apprentice in a Solicitors office and one of the Solicitors at my work often has "there must be more to life than this" moments even though he's earning a hell of a lot of money!

A mobile phone is a communication tool; it is up to the individual how they choose to use it. If students who don't care about an education weren't playing with mobile phones, they would be playing with something else.

The voice recorder app can be used to record lectures and talks and stuff, that's what I do.
