Replace hard-drive

Of those that have received their new iMacs, how difficult does it appear it would be to swap out the hard-drive?

My Airport Express Base Station shipped on the 16th from Taiwan, and is expected here in CA 9/22 by 10:30am.

I had chosen the option "ship when all items available", and also express 2-day shipping for my iMac 20in BTO w/250GB HD and bluetooth.

Maybe this means my iMac will ship out 9/20 and get here in time to meet my Airport Express on 9/22.

Just when I gave up checking on the thing... It sure is nice to see Berkeley MO as the location instead of Shanghai.

I have a feeling that FedEx is going to put a priority on those "held up" computers. Not only Monday delivery, but you can also get a refund if you paid for 2nd day delivery. :D

Have any Edu discount people gotten theres yet? I am wondering if it the the bluetooth that is holding mine up or the Edu discount. Or both :p

Unless something really odd happens, it should be Monday

It seems pretty clear that no units with internal Bluetooth have shipped yet.

I wonder how long it will it be before Apple starts building them ?

My 9/30 ship date is starting to look more realistic with each passing day.
Earlier this week I was excited by all the posts from people who's units shipped already. I couldn't help but think that mine would soon be on its way too. Now I kind of wish I had left off the BT option. I still want it, but I guess I'm envious of all of you that are playing with your shiny new toys while the rest of us wait.

:( :( :(

I agree, stillwater. But I keep thinking that when our iMacs do arrive, all nice and custom-built, with our Bluetooth and wireless keyboards and mice, well, I think it will be worth the wait.

Its hard knowing that a 20" iMac is just down the road from me, but considering it doesn't have all of the goodies I wanted I've decided to turn this into an exercise in patience.

Its not as bad as waiting >2 months for my PowerBook G4/500 when it first came out. Not yet at least.

Patience ?

Patience ? What's that ?

Isn't this the era of instant gratification ?

But seriously, I know I'll be happier in the long run by getting a custom configured iMac.

I just felt the need to vent some frustration.

Mine Shipped!!

I can't believe that mine shipped, as I was expecting it would be at least another week or more, considering when I placed my order.

I ordered a 20" iMac and upgraded the RAM to 512MB (NO Bluetooth, or other changes) from the education store (over the phone) on September 10 at about 9:30PM CDT (Central Daylight Time, U.S.) and my shipping notice is dated September 18. Estimated delivery is next Friday September 24, but I bet (hope) it will get here sooner. My estimated ship date when I placed my order was October 12th.

Question: Does anyone know when the 1 year warranty starts? Did it start when I ordered the iMac on September 10th, did it start when it shipped on the 18th, or will it start when I get my iMac on the 24th?

mine still says Berkeley, MO. Ours must have gotten separated for some lame reason. Maybe mine got put on the broken plane to chicago-

Your warranty should start the date you are billed, but then that may be different in different countries....

Actually, in order to activate your warranty, you have to register the Mac. Your warranty starts from the day you put down on their website as the day you received the Mac (or purchased - I can't remember).

You really think so ?

Shouldn't the warranty start when you take delivery ?

Well, up "here", the only date valid is the date of the receipt, since it acts as a guarantee voucher as well..

As I said, it may vary :)
