iMac G5 Now Shipping

A Little Help Please...

Well, I don't think that I'm going to get my computer by the time the FedEx website says. I received my tracking number on Monday (20th), but now on Wednesday (22nd) it looks like the iMac finally took off because it finally says left FedEx Ramp. The tracking info says that I should receive it by Friday the 29th, but I don't see that being possible considering it has to get to the middle of Iowa in the US. Ahhhhhhhh!!!!! Don't let me down FedEx!

Hey you're lucky!

I ordered a 20"/160Gb/512x1/BT/AirPort EX Card on 31/08 at 10:58AM GMT.

Estimated Shipping Date - 28/9
Actual Shipping Date - Still waiting (Open)

Paid full price and I'm in the UK. Seems like Apple are shipping at random again :(

I would hope not considering that 9/29 is a Wednesday not Friday. ;) If the FedEx site is saying that's a Friday then you better call them.

The 29th is Wednesday, not Friday, so I'm assuming you just typed the wrong day.

FedEx is very fast. My iMac shipped on the 18th and I got it yeserday the 21st. I only paid for standard shipping, by the way. If your iMac shipped today, don't be surprised if shows up on Monday instead of next Wednesday.

The fact that you are in the middle if Iowa might slow it down a liitle, but worst case scenario is you get your iMac on the estimated day of Wednesday the 29th.

Macro_girl, yours appears to be as close to matching mine as I've seen.

Did you not order the wireless kb / mouse? That's the only difference I can see.

Order status still 9/30 or before.
 
Where is Mine?

I am up here in Canada. I ordered mine on Sept. 2 and the est. ship date says "On or before 10/01/04".. My status is still on open. I am so eager to get it that I have been checking every day, sometimes twice a day. maybe Apple should take pity on us Canadians for not having any Apple stores. Hell, we don't even have any good resellers where I live.

Canada needs better access to Apple products.

gatorron, I already had the wireless keyboard and mouse that I've been using with my PowerBook. I was so eager to get the order in quick for the iMac that I missed the BT/KB/Mouse bundle.

It seems that BT with any configuration of the iMac is very restricted at the moment. I've only seen 2 posts that say they have a shipped BT iMac to date.

Anyone else received or got shipping notice of an iMac with BT (especially the 20")?

Opps, my bad...it was a typo, but the day was right, not the date. FedEx tracking says I will receieve it by Friday the 24th (this coming Friday), but from what I can tell it just got on the plane in China today. Think it will make it by the FedEx date of Friday????
 
does anyone know, has anyone who ordered by net received their iMac? or are they all too busy playing with the new toy to report?! :p

Sorry to hear that. I, like you also received a tracking number on Monday the 20th, with a delivery date for Friday the 24th. However, I just received my iMac 20" this morning at 10:18 am. Im extreamly happy, although im still at school and wont be able to set it up untill i get home, which will be around 7pm tonight :(.

I wouldnt be surpised. FedEx moves things really fast, plus when you fly to the U.S from China you cross the date line and gain a whole lot of time. Mine was shipped from China last Saturday, and got to me Tueday, even with the weekend. I think FedEx will get you your iMac in time for the weekend.
 
20" w/1 GB RAM (2 slots) w/o BT ordered 9/9 via net , arrived

arrived this morning. all the way from Phillipines to Massachusetts in 2 days , Alaska to Mass in one. (with the benefit of the time difference.. of course). Fed Ex guy wanted to know how much we paid, seemed impressed, the lack of brown packaging may have made a convert!.
 
Today's the day, I feel it

Sitting in traffic on my way home, I had a vision. Chou-en-Lai, iMac assembly line worker was just getting up after a good night's rest. As I type this, he is commuting to the iMac plant to assemble my G5/20"/512/AE/BT. I will wake up at my normal time tomorrow at 5:30 am to a shipping confirmation email. Just felt the need to share that.
 
ordered the *IMG5 20/1.8/256MB/160GB/SD/APX/BT/WL KBL on Aug 31st 8AM PST. Status is: still open and delivery OOB Sept 29th.

I am now getting really anxious. It looks like the iMacs shipped from China are making it to their destination in roughly three days. So if that is the case our orders w/ BT will have to leave China on Friday the 24th, in order to make the deadline.

So I guess I will wait to freak out until Friday. Although it's hard not to freak out, because it doesn't sound like anyone has had an iMac shipped from China since Monday.

Although in the back of my head I keep thinking Apple is drop shipping the BTO iMacs to the closest Apple wharehouse. That would be Sacramento for me.

The Apple site lists "Est. Ship" not "delivery". Apple is saying that your nice new iMac will ship by the 29th (mine too hopefully), not be delivered by the 29th.

The email notification you receive from Apple will give you an estimated delivery date.

I've seen that happen before. Remember Memphis is a big hub for FedEx and that's not that far from Iowa...

I'll think you'll find that quite a few that are talking about having their iMac ordered their's on-line. That's what I did (from the education store) and I hopefully will have mine by Friday. It went to FedEx on Monday.
 
nothing here today either. Haven't been able to obsessive compulse all day because I was in Philadelphia on business. Going home tonight though.

Thanks for the support and information guys. You were right, it arrived in Ancorage today and has already left now. I will be setting it up by 3:00 pm if FedEx arrives as normal!

I got an ibook from taiwan to iowa in 1 day. It was amazing

go to yahoo finance on Apple message board to read full posted article. Sorry cannot link as you must subscribe to WSJ for that. Exellent review. Basically saying it kicks Dell on comparable priced system but overall design wins hands down and virus free.

sorry if i beat anybody out... i can't believe there's a batch of us who cut back the RAM on the 20" machines... i predict a flood of 256MB sticks available on ebay in the near future... :D

[edit] never mind me, somehow i got it in my head that the 20" models came with 512MB. maybe all the "should have done" talk rewrote my memory
 
Defeat!

Well maybe it's not truely defeat, I just give up. No more excessive refreshes on the order status page for me. One day, hopefully soon I will be surprised to find an email for the Apple Store.

I thought for sure a huge batch of BT BTO iMacs would have gone out this week, maybe they did and they were just all to resellers. Last week just seemed to make this week very promising for the batch theory to logically say that BT was next.

So I will set my hopes on Apple meeting its expected ship date and that they don't miss it.

Hopefully those that did get theirs shipped this week can post some pics so that we can see the new iMac in its true glory, (nearly) wireless!
