For those in the Obsessively-Checking-FedEx-Status-Now-That-Our-Imacs-Have-Shipped Club (OCFSNTOIHSC), has anyone whose Imacs shipped yesterday progressed further than:

mine shipped yesterday (9/23), spent a while in shanghai, and is now listed as "in transit" in subic bay. i trust this means it's cleared customs and simply has to catch all the right connections from the phillipines.

oddly enough, and despite the fact that apple posted and then withdrew the charge to my credit card a number of days ago, my credit card is *still* not showing the final charge. the more i read about others' experiences, the more i think that there is no sure way to tell if and when these things are going to actually ship, beyond getting a real, working tracking number. i guess that should be obvious, but it's hard to resist all the other voodoo methods of telling what's going on.

on a completely different note, i'm beginning to regret not shelling out the extra money for the 20" screen. everyone with the bigger screen sounds
positively joyous. anybody out there who has actually received their 17" screen disappointed with the size?

Well, mine's been "picked up" at the FedEx Office in SH CN. (Hope he didn't drop it.)

Meanwhile, while mowing the lawn and then preparing for yet another hurricane, I was contemplating whether to smash this PC with a large blunt instrument, or merely blow it up, so that no one would ever suffer with it again.

Any other suggestions?

How about attaching a big sail to it and letting the storm blow it away. :)

I'm the same boat (or plane I guess?) as everyone who shipped on the 23rd with a delivery date of 10/11. (For a 20" BTO ordered on 9/3) However I'm taking solace in the fact that my tracking # says this was shipped via International Priority Direct Distribution. According to Fedex "For FedEx International Priority DirectDistribution packages weighing 150 lbs or less, the package is delivered two-four business days by 10:30 am." So unless they get held up in customs they should be here early next week!

What is the melting point of plastic

Stillwater...hmmm, has potential.

Special message to Kjgnola: Got your email and I replied, but please scan it or otherwise be careful...this Win 2000 machine is infected and I can't get rid of it. I don't know if this virus or whatever will transmit itself.

If you can't read it, or don't want to, let me know here, and I'll email you from work on Monday -- or maybe from my new iMac next week if it gets here. That would be great. :D

Hey! I got #1000 post. My luck has turned!

Where does it say this? I'm looking at my tracking page and I have nothing like that anywhere on the page. My package still says it has left the PH but it's been like that for over 24hours now.

On the tracking page under service type. Mine says "IP Direct Distribution".

Damn I cant wait any longer :( I see all the ppl getting a sending mail
I order mine 31 Aug. (20" 160GB AE Bt mouse en keyboard) Apple says before 12 Oct. I am from the Netherlands.
Dont know why my order is taking so long. I order it on 31 Aug. 12 Oct is long :(

Whats' up, it seem real slow

I don't get it my on ore berfore date was for 9/29 my ship notice came through today but the fedex slip says for October 13th delivery date. I hope it comes much sooner. I called and talked with Apple Rep today and he said it would take 5 days.

Just noticed that the weight on my 20" shipment is 23 kilos (50 pounds). Thought the 20" was about half that weight. Maybe it's the 250 GB HD. :D

ala

Don't worry about the 17" - you'll be fine. I use a 23" at work and basically find that I only notice what I am working on and that the rest of the time the balance of the screen just holds reference material that I will glance at.

Bit wild that we are now at the point of "display envy" instead of penis envy . . .

Phoned Apple UK Sales today to get an update on my order 20" iMac G5/160HD/256ram/BT+wireless KB & mouse the sale person told me that the production on that spec should be getting done next week, so the date of 11 oct that i was originaly given is on target. but it will take a further 5-7 working days for delivery. oh well i guess i will have to wait

I hate to tell you this but that is my exact config and mine shipped today.

FINALLY!

So here I am at the Apple Store in Roosevelt Field playing with the new 20" iMac G5. Was ready to buy one and cancel my order. Guess what? Went to cancel order and it SHIPPED! Sales rep is bummed, just lost a nice order.

Man, I can't get over how huge this is. Real quick, re-booted it and set processor speed to highest. None of the employees here knew about that option. The genius told me it was a PB feature only. He learned something new today.

No way I can see this tipping over. It's pretty heavy.

Now if Fed Ex only had some info for me. I ordered it 2 day so I'm hoping for Monday or Tuesday.

Just thought I would mention that I was at Electronic Fry's the other day and saw a iMac G5 1.8 sitting in a box all by its lonesome waiting to be bought. I resisted the urge since I want bluetooth built-in and more RAM and will probably wait for the next speed bump and ironed out bugs.

The box seemed all beat to hell from the shipping. Is this typical of other people's experience?

queue not to you

It seems like I've been passed over in the production Queue. Others who ordered after me on 9/01 (11:15 AM PST) have gotten shipping notices with almost the same configuration as mine.

Who else who ordered on the first is still waiting?

IMG5 20inch/512MB/250GB/AXP/FCE/BT-WLKB

I ordered an IMG5 20/1.8/512MB/250GB/SD/BT/WL KBD/MSL at 12:12 PST on 9/1 and it still says on or before 9/30 :(

Hang in there

Hey, The Rat, hang in there. Apple's exceeding their shipping date schedule.

Yours will be on its way soon.

As of yesterday, believe me, I felt your pain. Soon, it will go away.
