iMac G5 Now Shipping

Yes, definitely post back once you contact them and find out the Oct. 13th shipping estimate is hopefully bogus. However, my guess is that they will say "That's accurate."

Again, no calls from westworld with an order-confirmed email :(. I ordered on Sept 18th and I don't know when my OOB for shipping date is yet.

I'm still in the black. It could arrive next week or next year, I don't know.
 
I'm starting to think the later arrivals are looking to be accurate. Mine shipped yesterday and my delivery date is Oct. 11. :( I keep checking the tracking and it's said "Left FedEx Facility, Freeport PH" for over 24hours now. If it was flying it wouldn't take that long to get AK.

I'm pretty sure they're not accurate. I've read reports on different forums that these dates are arbitrary and that most people who were quoted delivery dates way in the future found their computers arriving in just a matter of days.

I think we'll have to wait through the weekend, but we should see them next week. And that's my best educated guess, or hypothesis.

(Sorry, still in the classroom...)
 
I hope you're right! I was all excited thinking maybe I would get it by Saturday. But I can wait for a Mon. or Tue. delivery. If I can contain myself that long. :p

I have a good feeling I'll see mine Wednesday or Thursday of next week. In fact, I'm working on substitute lesson plans for Thursday... :D
 
I don't get it.

It seems like I've been passed over in the production Queue. Others who ordered after me on 9/01 (11:15 AM PST) have gotten shipping notices with almost the same configuration as mine.

Who else who ordered on the first is still waiting?

Well my credit card shows the ding but still no shipping notice for today. Does anyone know if they ship on Saturday?

Of course hurricane jeanne might be grazing the coast of NC on Monday and Tuesday. Sigh.

That is about the same as my order, but I ordered early on the 31st. FedEx was been told to pick mine up at noon and didn't get around to it. Hope they get it Saturday and ship it out on a Saturday plane or I can add 2-3 days to the wait.

If your iMac is not made yet I would bet it is on Monday. Keep the faith - it's getting close!

On Tuesday Apple charged my credit card $30 more than what they were supposed to for my iMac G5. I called them and they said this is common (couldn't explain why they charged more) when items are about to ship. Yesterday (Thursday) the temporary charge came off of my account and the money was back in my checking. They shipped the item today. My order status said open the whole time until today. So if they've put that charge on your account I'd expect they will be shipping within a few days.

I just got off the phone with Apple about shipping speed. My order went out today (24) and she said I will see it in two to three business days ( I have standard shipping). She said all the orders are international shipping, which means 2 to 3 days. So I guess my estimated arrival of Oct 13 by fedex is a big buffer.

So everyone with 2 week estimates on arrival don't worry, our wait is over soon!!!

My 20" with BT just shipped today as well - I paid for expedited shipping and the expected delivery date is Sept 30 - only 1 day sooner than you. Doh! We'll see when I actually get it (Canada as well).
 
My shipping date says on or before the 13th October, and then allow 3-7 days to arrive. So realistically I guess I'm going to have it by the 20th. Is that the same for everyone?? Also, my order, according to Apple has been put on priority to get it made quicker because they messed it up to begin with, does anyone know how much of a difference this would make? :confused:
 
I called Apple. At first they stated that since it was shipping from Shanghai that it would have to go through customs....after clearing customs it would take 5-7 days to get here.
I then got a little bit more serious with her(not rude).....but wanted specific details as to why they would say it would take 10 days to get here when FedEx was quoting me at 19 days.....when they knew it would ship from Shanghai and have to go through customs. She then put me on hold, came back and said it will take 3 days coming from China. She then said it would be Wednesday of next week that it should arrive.
5 days is a lot better than 19 days:) So all of those who are getting the longer-than-expected ship times.....I think we're okay and the iMacs should be arriving within a week. Perhaps FedEx is just giving conservative estimates?
 
change in order

just got back from an apple store and saw both the 17 & 20. have to admit, the 20" is HUGE. anyway, i ordered the 17" w/airport and BT from the apple store on 9/4...shipping date still a ways off. if i change to the 20", do i got back in the que all over again?

I'm so thrilled that I will have my iMac next week! The only thing that sucks, other than the waiting, is the impending hurricane.
 
Should I keep looking?

I haven't got any shipping notice yet - order is still open OOB 9/29. So I am toast for the weekend, or has anyone got a shipping notice on a saturday or later in the day on Friday

Well, mine's been "picked up" at the FedEx Office in SH CN. (Hope he didn't drop it.)

Meanwhile, while mowing the lawn and then preparing for yet another hurricane, I was contemplating whether to smash this PC with a large blunt instrument, or merely blow it up, so that no one would ever suffer with it again.

Any other suggestions? :eek:
