I can't believe it,

Mine shipped on the 21st, and from the 23rd I have had a status of

on hold; aircraft/truck failure

And it is still like that now. Is that a secret code for "Oh dear we've dropped the box, and now have to get a new one made" or what?

Any ideas anybody?

I'm on holiday at the end of the week, and if it doesn't get here before then I won't see it for 3 weeks.

I think I'll be calling the Apple Store later today.

Peter

Yes i would definetly call...i ordered an ipod a few weeks back and it said the same thing so i called and they took care of it...or atleast the next day ti was back on track :)

Update on truck/plane failure

I have just got off the phone with Apple and they initially started to say that they had had a problem with a plane, but then after tracing my box a bit more said that she would get them to send me out another one as soon as possible. This strikes me that there was something wrong with the machine (i.e. dropped or something) so now I guess I go back to the non-shipped status :(

Hopefully by the time I get back from holiday in 3 weeks it will have arrived. I just hope that my work collegues won't have broken it in my absence.

I knew I should have rung them sooner.

It's coming...

Just got my shipping status 2 hours ago!!!!

IMG5 20/1.8/1GB/160GB/SD/APX/BT/WL KBD/

Just when I had memorized my order number for the apple site, I'll have to memorize the FedEx shipping number now!

In no particular hurry...

It's been almost 24 hours now and there hasn't even been a location scan performed on my package. Anyone else out there watching their iMac chilling in Shanghai this morning? I would happy to know that the darn thing is still sitting there. Slow activity is better than no activity at this point. Sheesh!

This thread is starting to repeat itself! ;)

From your shipment notification email,

For orders shipped Monday through Thursday tracking information will
be available on the carrier sites 12 to 24 hours after shipping.
For orders shipped Friday through Sunday tracking information will be
available on the carrier sites by the following Monday evening.

I just got off the phone with FedEx and they told me that my package has reached US Customs. I'm guessing that is in AK, they wouldn't give me any more info. I asked how long it would take to get delivered and the rep said it all depends on how long customs holds my package.

So for all of us who's computer shipped last Thursday, it has reached the US! :)

I don't have any clue in which order Apple shipps their orders! how can someone who ordered on 09/14 get his imac earlier than people who ordered on 08/31 or 09/01?

It depends on what is ordered. If you order a stock 17" then it can ship very fast. 20" stock will ship after Apple puts a run of them through. Including BT (which I did) slows down the shipment until there is another run of the boards of the size you ordered - the BT is welded to the board so they are run as a batch.

When the dust finally clears, probably after Christmas, I think things will go faster for the BT. Right now Apple is just trying to move iMacs out the door as fast as possible, which means batch processing. While we are eager for ours there is a huge distribution channel that needs to be filled for resellers and they have not had an iMac to sell for 3+ months. Think we are anxious, they must be going nuts trying to keep their doors open!

my bundle of joy is with the stork...

Sadly, there is still no e-mail from Apple about my BTO 20". I'm beginning to feel that the standard models will be pushed through the line first and then the BTOs as the line settles down.

my BTO 20" left shanghai this morning. the anticipated arrival date says 10/11/04. there is much happiness.

built in bluetooth.
wireless keyboard / mouse
airport extreme card.
250 gig hard drive
didn't upgrade the memory (too expensive through Apple)
Creature speakers.

happy happy joy joy.

Finally fed up, I had to call the Apple Store. I noticed that configurations very similar to mine, ordered after mine, had already shipped.

I didn't expect Apple to have any more information than I saw on the website, but they told me my order would be shipping in 12 to 24 hours.

Again, I have 20" / 1GB / 250GB / BT / wireless k&m.

I'm feeling a bit of relief, finally.

That's good to hear. I was pretty annoyed this morning to find mine still hadn't shipped yet. Ordered 9/1. C'mon already!

Important Shipping News from China

I received email from apple my 20" BTO had shipped 9/25. I ordered via Apple Store Educational discount. I called Apple and they said average time 5-7 days.

Well, on the FEDEX tracking page, it indicated 10/13 estimated delivery date. I called FEDEX and they explained that China has a 5-day holiday through this Friday, 1 Oct. Any packages there will not be shipped until Friday night, 1 Oct.

So, bottom line, if your package/iMac is in China as of this weekend, it will not ship until 1 Oct. From there, it could take another 4-7 days.

Sorry for the bad news, but that appears to be the latest shipping news from China. :(

Apparently, October 1 is National Day in China, celebrating the founding of the Peoples Republic of China. I couldn't find anything saying that it lasts five days.

However, I only did a quick search.
