Ordered 9/20 - no e-mail yet <sigh>

I ordered mine 8PM on 9/20 - no e-mail yet, no update on Apple Store site, and yet, my credit card was magically reduced by the amount of the order but hasn't actually been "deducted." This happened on Friday - so, if the time table we're seeing is accurate, I should see the true deduction from my account take place early this week and get my much-anticipated shipping e-mail soon after.

Really looking forward to getting my IMAC17/1.8G5/1GB/160G/SD/LL since I sold the "killer PC" I build just 5 months ago to get the funds needed to buy this "PC killer" (which will be our family's very first Mac). We're forced to use our daughter's PC as the main PC for now which means I went from a 2.8Ghz hyperthreaded Intel (the one I sold) to a Celeron 500! Even though I'm on cable, it's like "dial-up cable" cuz her box has really crappy onboard video. I forced XP onto it but will strip it down to 98SE when my iMac comes! :D

iMac G5 included contents question

Does the iMac G5 come with a mouse pad?
Also, I've seen a few cars in town with a very cool white Apple logo on their back windsheild... does this come with the computer? If not, where can I get one?

Finally fed up, I had to call the Apple Store. I noticed that configurations very similar to mine, ordered after mine, had already shipped.

I didn't expect Apple to have any more information than I saw on the website, but they told me my order would be shipping in 12 to 24 hours.

Again, I have 20" / 1GB / 250GB / BT / wireless k&m.

I'm feeling a bit of relief, finally.

Well, it's been 24 hours, and still no change in my order status. I called Apple again, and they continue to say it is being processed, which means it will ship in (again) "12 to 24 hours." I guess I can't believe them.

I ordered this thing early on August 31. It was an educational order, so I have no idea why this substantial delay. Looks like poor Trekkie and I are the bottoms of the barrel.

Has anyone else been waiting since August 31?

I'm still alive gatorron! Jeanne hit the Tampa Bay area a lot harder than anybody predicted. My apartment complex has been without power for over 24 hours, so I decided to take a trip down to the Apple Store to check my e-mail and then grab a bite to eat.

How did you guys fare up there? I hope everything is ok.

Whatever that means. Think I'll see it this week?

Well, I made another call to FEDEX based on the responses of my fellow forum members...

FEDEX stated that the REAL reason for the delayed shipping is Apple requested FEDEX to move iMacs out of their warehouse and ship on "space available." So, according to FEDEX, it could be up to 11 days before it's put on a plane. FEDEX also said it might only be a few days. Also worth noting, I did not select Express shipping so that may be a factor. Those that selected express may not fall under the category I'm in.

Anyway, that's the latest from FEDEX, hope that helps some....

My call to FedEx confirms this "space available" request from Apple with respect to the quarter-ending September 24 shipments. I paid for expedited shipping, so no, that didn't make any difference - at least with respect to those September 24 shipments. We are all in the same boat (er, warehouse, plane, ...).

I called Apple, and two different CSRs had no idea why these September 24 shipments were made on a space available basis, nor why those with expedited shipping were not differentiated from the rest and sent priority (as were previous week's iMacs - even those who chose standard shipping).

One Apple CSR tried to claim that 2-day expedited shipping only applies once the package has cleared US customs, and this expedited shipping didn't apply to the Asia-US leg; so I was out of luck with respect to how Apple decided to get them to the US.

The second CSR said that with expedited shipping I should indeed get it in 2-3 business days from Asia. He confirmed that he could not change the status of the shipment to priority. He advised that I call Apple back once I receive the iMac, and if I didn't get it in 2-3 business days, that I request a refund of the extra shipping charges.

Based on others' experiences of last week, I was hoping to have my iMac tomorrow.

Now, it's sitting in Japan, and with this "space available" thing I guess it's just the luck of the draw as to when I get it...

Well I just tracked my package that I received notification on today and it is enroute. Currently it is on it's way to Anchorage...hopefully it doesn't get bumped, but I think I'm pretty safe to say that it won't.

Looks like most of the shipments in the container are all Canada bound since the clearance point is marked as Winnipeg, one of FedEx's clearance centres. I'm hoping for arrival on Wednesday, keeping my fingers crossed!

Even better...you get two stickers! Haven't gotten my iMac yet but one of my friends has and it comes with 2 of the white Apple stickers. No mouse pad though.

I have been refreshing all morning in the hopes that this thing may have moved *somewhere* but I'm still in FedEx location in Shanghai. I shipped after the cut-off on 9/24.

Good news for Apple: All of these get counted in the financial results for the quarter-ending September 24th, because they shipped out of Apple's warehouse on 9/24.

Bad news for US: When Apple asked FedEx to clear out their warehouse on 9/24, they told FedEx to send all of these on a "space available" basis. I think we can throw any estimates of arrival date out the window.

We are at the mercy of how many priority shipments FedEx has that will fill their planes and bump these "space available" shipments.

I can live with this situation... unless and until I hear of an Apple shipment after 9/24 that resumes a "priority shipment" designation and bumps my own shipment which continues to wait until "space available."

That's certainly a nice little bonus! It'll be a nice addition to the rear window of our family's minivan :)

I'm definitely psyched and still waiting to get my shipping notice (ordered 9/20).

FedEx gives me the exact same status report. Perhaps our machines are rooming together on the trip. Like it's a carpool or something. Or a boatpool or planepool or whatever. This is where I'm at:

Just try to get those in a $499.00 Dell box!
And they say macs are overpriced...
Yeash!

For those w/ last Thursday shipments.....

I just got off the phone with Apple and the CSR said that I should be recieving my computer tomorrow sometime. I explained that I was wondering about an update and that FedEx wasn't updating their site. He then told me it looked like it would be arriving tomorrow. So for those who's shipped last Thursday and Friday we should be seeing them tomorrow and Wednesday I would assume. :)

Just got off the phone with Fedex myself. I got the same story as others who were stuck in Subic Bay since last Thursday. Apple requested 'space available' shipment and the entire load is currently sitting in Subic where it will stay until Fedex gets around to them. All their other business takes priority.

I'm not happy with Apple, being that I ordered, sight unseen, first thing on the 31st. People who ordered MUCH later and even just went to CompUSA have their system before I do.

Still waiting for shipping on my open order for a IMG5 20/1.8/512MB/160GB/SD/BT/AP/B placed on the 31st too. Says on or before 28/09/2004, guess I'll know tomorrow if I get a delay email.

Has anyone had a delay email on an iMac G5 yet?

It seems like we're getting conflicting reports. Did you pay extra for the priority shipping?
