They are not shipping 24-inch iMacs until Tuesday, perhaps because there will be a rev in the 24 on Tuesday. The 24 has a bigger chassis than the 17 or 20, even if made slimmer, so it is the best candidate to use hotter (non-mobile) cpu and gpu and to sport a new design and maybe aluminum case.

It doesn't make sense for apple to release the 24 inch before the rest of the line, and before the ilife revision.

iMac stock situation in some European countries seems to be the opposite as in the US:

German Apple Store: 24" immediately available; 20" three (!) days delay
Austrian Apple Store: 24" immediately available; 20" three days delay

Note:
Poland Apple Store: 17" 1,83 GHz version removed from online store!!

France Apple Store: 3 open days delay for all three models, 17, 20, 24" :)
(just yesterday sunday, we had mostly 24 hours delay time)

The Poland store link seems to be too long for the forum, but once on there it says they'll all take 3 weeks to arrive. That may be normal though.

That means the rest is being updated on the 24th too! I knew it!

ZING!

And if not the 24th, then the 31, and if not the 31st, then the 7th, and, and, and...:p

It's unpredictable really.

If you've seen Red vs. Blue, you would understand.

Anyways, right now on the Canada site shipping is 1-2 days.

What are they usually in Canada? 24 hours shipping?

UK still has 24 hours, although I think it's been like that up to the day before previous releases.

What is certain though is that stock levels are low, which has gotta be good. Question is, will there be a big announcement, in the form of an event, or will they just unleash 'em?!

I don't really pay attention to the shipping dates. Anyways, if Apple did have an event for the 24th, we would defiantly know about it by now. They could have an event later, for a different release date, which is anyones guess at the moment.

As for the stock levels, my local futureshop, they are completely out of stock for the 20inch, 24inch, but not the 17 inch. I'd say that this Tuesday they will most certainly be released.

Question...? I want to buy iMac for my son, 24". Even if Apple releases new iMac, isn't risky to buy a first (A) release. From experience of those who bought before, the A release, did it have any problems and glitches? I was told to wait until B release, but I can't wait too much, my son had his birthday and he agreed to wait until new version of iMac, but to wait for months does not make sense. Thanks.

LOL! Very good :D

By the way, I don't see any issue with buying a rev A machine. By that reasoning, they'd be plenty of cars, dishwashers, TVs etc. you'd be unable to buy!

!

In canada they have been 1-2 business days for a while. However, when you go to the trouble to add it to the cart and checkout then delivery stretches out to August 6th.

Locally Future-shop and BestBuy seem to be out of most models except the 17" and a couple of 24" according to online stock. I am thinking tomorrow.

First, Apple tends to focus much more on getting a product right over getting a product out.

Second, The iMac has been around for years so this is hardly an "A" release.

What you'll most likely get by waiting is more computer for the same $$ and a new design that you / your son may or may not prefer.

My $0.02

Thank you. I agree. If Apple increases speed, puts more memory, better video card and new design -it is hardly "A" release. We decided to wait until mid August.
