:apple: is expecting lower profits because of something to do with a "product transition". Perhaps they are planning a minor update for the imac, followed by a major one with Leopard or Penryn or something. I for one hoper this isn't true because I really want that new aluminum imac that I've been waiting to buy since June. :D
A minor update of the iMac would not decrease profit margins, because the current components are going down in price. Even upgraded processors would cost less than the current ones did when the current models were introduced. iMac sales would not likely be much less with a minor upgrade than they are now, so that would not decrease profits. The only way that iMacs could contribute to lower profits would be if the cost of the components increased, which would indicate a significant upgrade.

That was translated through babel fish and may not actually represent what was said. However it is similar, and it appears something was lost in the translation as the poster was describing it as best he could.

brushed metal, thin, rubber feet?, looks good, works, HKD$1200

There is a new thread about it here with a link to the un-babelised entry.

I guess someone could e-mail the admin that took them down and ask him nicely if he kept a copy or 9 of the other photos.

If he had 11 pics then they seem more legit then i originally thought they were.... Is there anyway for us to see the other 9 pics.

Has to be a fake! I can't believe that Apple would release a cheap tacky design like this! I think it looks nasty! Sort of thing that you'd see for sale in Maplin electronics!

My 2 cents worth

The iPhone was a significant exception to Apple's rule.

It was an exception but not unique, not even in recent terms. The Apple TV, temporarily labeled "iTV" or something like that, was announced months ahead of release, too. Apple's rule isn't "don't talk about upcoming products" but rather "do or don't talk about upcoming products depending on which will maximize sales". Apple TV announcement: Start buying movies from the iTunes Store because we've got something coming that will integrate easily and permanently with your home HDTV and A/V equipment -- not just a new video iPod with a somewhat bigger screen. iPhone announcement: Besides Jobs's alleged claim of the logistics of testing this thing in the wild, that announcement said, Don't get into a new carrier contract for one of these other phones you see that you like, or renew your contract with your existing carrier to upgrade your phone, because we have *this* coming. *Not* pre-announcing consumer Macs and iPods: We have inventory we need to sell now, not have everyone waiting for what's coming while we sit on stacks on unsold inventory.

The most sane advice people usually offer about Apple products is buy what you want or need now and then don't pay attention to what comes along later until enough time has passed you've received full value for your current purchase, or it's so worn out it requires replacement. Good example of this was people who needed or wanted a new iPod or first full-sized iPod and waited months for the 5.5G which provided no significant enhancements to the 5G. They waited for almost nothing. There are still lots of people happily using 3G iPods and minis -- because they still do exactly what the buyer's wanted in the first place -- and they don't check the Web every day to see what's new.

I hope new iPod has a better sound qaulity. My son has Nano and the sound sucks big time. I tested it in the studio, through different recievers, with great headphones - it still sounds flat. The same song I play from my computer sounds right, put it in iPod - bad.

The sound quality of my nano is great. I do know what I'm talking about as well as I have a home studio and I regularly DJ. If the sound was rubbish I'd notice.

Now....back to the topic at hand.

What is all that?

Somehow, I don't think 33% increase in Mac sales = stagnant. Do you?

I have a hunch that a good deal of that increase was do to laptop sales and not desktop. Do they actually break out the numbers so you can see what segment gained the most? I still prefer the desktop computer when I am at home, however I think laptop sales are growing at a much faster rate.

Looks much more easy to clean... [/QUOTE]

If you look closely at the other pictures, the apple logo is wrong. If it isn't a fake, then apple came up with a new cool logo, or that one has a defect.

Anyways, that would be a good keyboard if it was raised a little, I cant imagine having to type on a completely horizontal keyboard.

Laptops were 62% of mac sales. Not sure where I saw that. It would be nice if apple broke it down by product, aka how is the mac mini doing? Is the mini a sucess and here to stay or a flop for eBay?

Agreed, but it isn't horizontal. There's a ridge in the back to hold it up that also has the USB on it.
