I love iMacs just like the next guy but for those that are hating on iPhone rumors you do realize if it wasn't for iPhone apple would be out of business

Don't really agree, sorry, without any Apple you'd have just Nokia.
Apple is the reason why we have Iphones,Ios is Osx for the mobiles it sells, and
you cannot develop without any desktop, because of its ecosystem.
Without Iphones maybe we could had an Imac with a desktop Gpu within it,
this and without Microsoft Vista's Fiasco.
What really pop up out at my eyes is that we had an Apple with Jobs
and an Apple without him..and this really marks the difference,
Jobs had grown its creature from the very beginning, yes he said that thing about trucks,
but also gave us the Imac's line which all before compared with seem'd and still seems a truck.
Cook just grows what investors love..just the money factor,
not the users factor..the ones who holded Apple while it was sinking, the ones
who are here waiting without buying, the ones who gaves their trust and their money,
but as we know Cook just doubles down on this.

no you're wrong. It was thanks to the iPod that apple was saved not the iPhone. And it's not like we're hating on it. It's just it's been a little bit too much now. So the sites rumors now need to move to something else something we don't know nothing about and the first candidate that comes to mind since its over due for an update is the iMac. Look at 9to5mac they make a blog post about an iPhone 4/4s red iPhone bumper and kinda make a big deal about it. REALLY REALLY??? They choose to report on iPhone 4 bumpers. That's plain and simple stupid and no one cares about that. The rather report on iPhone accessories than searching around for iMac rumors. Since they have so many stories about the iPhone they don't bother trying to search around or ask sources for that matter.

No you're wrong it's because of the iMac that Apple was saved(joking I think it's a number of reasons why Apple was saved). But I agree with the rest of your post.

Yes i think u are right. First iMac was the first step upwards for apple after a very long dark time. And it was also Steve jobs first breakthrough after coming back to apple. It probably sold a lot but it wasn't really before iPod classic apple started seeing how they could make major success in new markets....and it goes only upwards from there :) haven't you read the biography ;)

anyway I completely agree.. The amount of iPhone crapnews these days are just beyond the roof... It's freekin annoying and boring!!!! And that 9to5 makes a headline of a red iPhone 4 bumper pretty much says it all. YAWN!!

Well... if there's no Mac news why should they not update the site with the only other news out of Apple. Apple is after all focusing on their "post-pc" iToys.

Will the new iMac have SSD standard?

I disagree, first of all, Apple is still operating on plans that were set in place when SJ was still at the helm, and second of all, SJ never listened to consumers and pissed them off numerous times. People are just taking every little difference in the company to be a result of Steve Jobs' absence. We will really know what the company will be like without him in a few years.

Do you really believe it?I'm not buying, without Jobs they're just free to go where money are,in their opinion, that is just laptop and mobiles.
This Apple is not the same without him, sayn this is how to say that there's no differences with his work after he came back resuscitating Apple.
He had ideas,he had visions,he respected us,driving us even abruptely but then when we were there we had to admit he was right,he deserved our trust,Cook hasn't,he's a marvellous planner but he hasn't any sparkles, thats why he doesn't hear us but just think to put oil in the machine without looking the road he is travelin as Job used to do.
Jobs is an icon that will be never be replaced, its charisma was selling more than the iphones, because of his "one more thing"'with Cook we just hope to be able to buy the "last year thing" ,speaking about desktops, because with laptops they are still there.
Apple cannot destroy the desktop's line without losing herself.

Wait, you mean to tell me that there is a red bumper now? I don't think I can stand the excitement. I don't know which is more exciting, that, or the number of pins the idock connector has.

I don't think the new iMac will have SSD as a standard but I think the prices for the drives will drop significantly.

I was also hoping for a drop as well, but that's a pipe dream when you look at prices for SSD upgrades in the new Airs and rMBP. They're still $2.30 per GB, same as the current SSD BTO prices on last year's iMacs. :(

Damn, I was hoping for cheaper SSD options too. :(

The only thing that I really don't know its the release date things seem to be pointing more to October but I want it to be tomorrow but I know that's not gonna happen. But I really hope sooner that later. But there's not a single doubt in my mind is that there will be a new design. I really really believe that.

It will be October 5th. The Day Steve Jobs died.

I think those are a different beast because of the size limitations. The iMac can use a standard SSD drive.

Either that or we have to start facing the prospect of no 2012 iMac

It will be a 2012 iMac. Nothing indicate anything else.... And multiple rumors says so. Problem is that all rumors says October or late September, and everyone here (including myself) is impatient and start being pessimistic even though we haven't reached the rumored date... Im 99% sure they won't skip 2012 entirely. I bet on oct 5th the birthday of Steve jobs, it's a nice way to celebrate his memory and also a nice excuse for the delay :)

Well, the point is that while they are rumors (and therefore by definition not an official roadmap) the "new" iMacs were supposed to be released together with Ivy Bridge, ie. April or so. That would have been consistent with the schedule of about one year between refreshes. That didn't happen, so the rumors moved to the WWDC in June, then to ML's release in July, and then we ran out of upcoming milestones... except for Sept 12, which will most likely be about the iPhone 5 and iPad mini (or whatever they'll call them) and potentially Oct 5.
I do agree that it would be a nice tribute to Steve Jobs and I'm sure that Apple will do something special that day, but I'm personally not sold — pun intended — on the notion that it'll be the release day for the new iMacs... unless it's a completely new machine. And there we go back to the whole retina / non retina discussion, screen lamination problems, and people get frustrated because it's been 15 months now and we have nothing at all coming from Mr. Blurrycam about these machines. :)

I toyed with that idea, that would be symbolic since iMac brought Apple back to life and was THE product connected with SJ.

Something like 14th Anniversary iMac :)

Yeah and then it can't just be a spec bump, it has to be an awesome redesign.... Maybe in the style of the 1st iMac :D
