Its not fair

Now that i have made up my mind to buy an Imac all these rumors come about and i dont want to buy the current IMac anymore, simply because i dont want to end up buying something that is going to be outdated in a couple of weeks time...

Would the current one do me... Yes, but why paying todays money for last years specs..

LOL some of us have been holding on since January... :( imagine how we feel about this.
First it was "they'll have Ivy Bridge so it'll be in April", then "it will be at the WWDC in June", then "it will be when ML is released in July"...
Join us in the frustration, even if it's just for a few weeks. :D

I don´t think the iMacs are coming this year, so if you need it now, buy it! I say spring 2013 earliest.

Another Tuesday and nothing.......

People have been screaming New imac for at least 6 months......

It's not coming People, I think the iMac maybe Dead

Well the only given fact about the upcoming iMacs is that macrumors will post at least 10 more iphone 5 product pictures, probably the same image each post before the iMac releases.

Called a few stores yesterday. All 3 Apple Stores in my market area and 2 in NYC are fully stocked with 21" & 27" iMacs. I wouldn't expect a new iMac or even a spec bump for at least a few weeks.

actually if you put the low-end 27" iMac in the cart, and select pick up @ an Apple Store (ZIP code 10001, NY area), you can see the situation is very different... 16 store of 20 listed are out of stock, and that's the biggest shortage i've ever seen in the last few months (checking since may). When ML was released, and people tried to pick out every possible shortage, it was only 3-4 stores....

Shouldn't we see a rumor along the lines of this one a week in advance?

Can't come up with a good reason for it to be different this time around.

Last year some guy from CNet stowed away on the boat from China. Or something. Anyway he was sounding the alarm bells and was dead on. 2010 if I recall had no such warning.

----------

You know, this guy might just be on to something.

We seriously need a subforum called Baseless Speculation to banish all of you iMac-is-dead-ers and not-in-2012-ers to.

I checked other retailers around my area there seem to be more and more resellers running out of the 27 inch iMac now the lower end 27inch is also suffering from very very few stock there's only two best buys around my area that has stock, again nothing on amazon, and the majority of apple store also near me don't have any. I know this kinda of reiteration but this time around its seems to be less and less stock. I we see the iMac soon

I'm not sure that a long shortage is really needed to get new models, after all whatever's unsold could be easily sent back to Apple for resale as refurb. Moreover, do Macs usually become immediately available in Apple Stores upon release? The closest AS to me is 200 km away and I've only been there once, so I have no clue; the local Apple Premium Reseller gets stuff 7-10 days later in very small quantities and big chains take even longer.

Anyway, the Apple Online Store for Italy doesn't let you choose in-store pick-up, but I discovered that the Apple Store app for iOS allows you to ask a store to "reserve" a Mac for you. I have no idea whether this is same as purchasing with in-store pick-up or if it's just a temporary free reservation that only lasts for 24 hours or whatever, but either way if you can do it, it means they're in stock.

I just checked all the Italian stores and the results are as follows:
Bergamo - all in stock
Bologna - all in stock except the base 27"
Caserta - all in stock
Catania - all in stock
Firenze - all in stock
Milano I - all in stock
Milano II - all in stock
Roma I - all in stock
Roma II - all in stock
Torino - all in stock

This morning at 9:15 the Roma II store ("RomaEst") was out of the top 27", which means they got restocked at some point today.

*shrug*

If this is true and you have been tracking this, tip of my hat your way sir. Could be a 'sign'

I've been doing this for a couple weeks. (My zip is close enough to NYC that I get all the NYC stores, plus the NJ stores.) It's been very low for a while now. I think it has more to do with all the production having shifted to the new model to try to "catch up" than it being an immediate supply adjustment for the new launch.

I checked in store pickup for stores from Boston north. Most show available Sept 6th or later for the 21.5 high end and 27 base model. Looks like inventories are slipping. :D

All the BTO configs are flagged for sept. 13'th if you chose in store pickup (ZIP 10001). Is this normal :)?

I been reading these threads for 3 months now, and finally there might be something real!!

It's outdated now, that's the problem . . . :p

Haha my first instinct is to get excited too. Only problem is we've seen shortages like this several times during this never ending wait and it has resulted in nothing. I'll believe a new imac when I see. I don't even bother getting my hopes up anymore.
