someone should start a hunger strike, make it public and say he'll only stop if apple reveal their plans for a new iMac.

if the reason why a lot of you say no imac sept 12 just because apple doesn't share stage with Ios devices well thats a pretty brainless. A lot of people said that about wwdc its only a developers thing only ios and osx stuff. Just because apple hasnt done it before it doesnt mean they would never do it. Please give a legit reason why wouldnt apple release the imac then. Not just because ios doesnt share and macs dont share stages.

Ooh, wait! - I have a good reason! Because desktops don't share the stage with iOS products. I don't think anyone's mentioned that yet.

I've only had my Air for a few days now and loving it every second. I forgot how convenient a NoteBook is.

I wanted a new iMac just for the sake of upgrading but with my set up, added a 24" Dell UltraSharp U2412M...

I pretty much don't care if Apple doesn't release a new iMac...ever.

Hardware has to be pretty major to be shown at WWDC. MBPs got shown there this year because Retina requires developer support. First time Mac hardware had been shown in I think 3 years. iMacs have still never been shown there.

You don't call a news conference to announce your newest sports car, and then say "oh, while you're all here, we also have a new minivan". Few that came to hear about the sports car care about the minivan, and it's not going to get the least bit of attention.

man.. it feels like I've been waiting for the new iMac to come out forever.! Please... just come out already! I thought it was gonna come out early this year but it's already end of July. grrrrr... never believe rumors...

why are you here then commenting on this forum if you dont care.

mm idk just because apple has never done it before that doesnt mean they would never do it. you can say that about the macbook pro retina and the macbook air. two different machines same with ios devices. i guess i we will have to wait and see. My only problems with commenters here is that they dont provide any evidence on what they are saying.. they are plenty of rumors pointing out to september and the fact i talked Jim Dalrymple.. and i have a good feeling based on what he said not much was said but i have a good feeling idk all the recent rumors point out to september. and now that theres gonna be a september event isnt that the final piece of the puzzle ? i think so.

Not really. They used the MBA and nrMBP as storytelling devices to get you to rMBP. It works because they're all portable Mac OS devices.

mm idk just because apple has never done it before that doesnt mean they would never do it.

That's true. But predicting based on past history tends to be more accurate than predicting based on wishing and ignoring history.

FWIW I hope they announce new iMacs on Sept 12. Hell I hope they announce them Aug 7. But I just don't see it happening.

im not ignoring history. Im going by based on what ive heard and recent rumors which holds more weight than history because apple doesnt really do every single event the same. Take last year for example they didnt announced the macbook pro or airs on wwdc, this year they did, so how can we really rely on that ??? while i agree with you to certain extend no one has yet given me a legit reason that holds any weight besides "previous history" which i just debunked that the imac will not come sept 12. however im curious to know when you think the imac will be release if not sept 12 and please state why?

If everyone that made a wrong prediction went away and never darkened this doorstep again there wouldnt be much traffic on macrumors website. As long as people have well thought out, logical and defendable assumptions, their guess is as good as anyone's. Because lets face it. Few of us have direct contacts with the supply chain to make our assumptions better than anyone else's

I have no problem with speculations. It is silly though how some people are so adamant, so positive that there's no way they could be wrong, because otherwise such and such "just doesn't make sense."

But that's for the same reason. Last year there were no hardware changes that were notable for developers. So no reason to bring them up at a developer conference. This year there were. I think it's better than 50/50 we see a new desktop (that may or may not be called iMac or Mac Pro) at next year's WWDC, and no portables.

however im curious to know when you think the imac will be release if not sept 12 and please state why?

When I combine the Kuo report with the iPhone/iPad Mini event & launch and the way Apple likes to space out their releases (particularly if they're unrelated) I come up with two possibilities:
- Most likely for me is October 9
- Other option is August 21

A couple variations of the Kuo report suggest iMacs "leaving factories" in August.. they seem to conflict with the rest of the report, but if it's true, then August 21 is the date. It's late in August, and 3 weeks before iPhone announcement. Since most people citing the report put the timeframe in Sept-Oct (and not Aug), I think Oct 9 gives the minimum desired space between launches.

Can you provide an itemised list of all the rumours you think are significant and point to a September 12th launch? I've been following this for a while and as far as I can tell, we've got one prediction of Sep/Oct based on lamination problems and errrmm... that's it.

I understand the thought process, at a high level.
1) Past reliable source gives a 60 day window
2) Past extremely reliable sources confirms an Apple event during that window
3) ????
4) Profit

It kinda falls apart when you start to look at how Apple handles their events, though. You don't even necessarily want to invite the same mix of Press to an iMac event vs. an iPhone/iPad event. Much more likely that there simply is no event coverage for the iMac.

Am still waiting for the new iMac. I had ordered the 2011 but instantly cancelled it and got me a 2011 11.6" MBA refurb. Am really enjoying it, its super fast and for now it cannot obviously do heavy works but at least I got a computer to hold me off and take to college and do as much at it can handle. Loving this little guy and hopefully the iMac will come out soon.

A lot are saying its absurd to see iMac along side release of other Apple products, but honestly Apple has been bending their own "rules" and doing things rather differently so at this point we can expect just about anything happening.

If the announcement is at the September event, I wouldn't be surprised if it was like the release of the new Airport Express at WWDC:

I have it on reliable personal speculation that the newly refurbished iMacs will be delay until sometime after yesterday. Just the thought of it makes me all verklempt. Talk amongst yourselves.

Dairymple's "yep" was referring to the iphone media event and release date, not iMacs.

this is exactly what i mean.. if its not sept 12 its definitely not because previous history is because something else. but not because apple hasnt release macs with ios devises before..

i know that .. lol i messaged him on my personal twitter, and specifically asked him about the imacs.

Just asked Jim dalrymple. If the iMac was on apples radar he reply "of course"
...
Missed that, sorry. But again, how exactly does this imply the Sept 12 date? His "of course" is just in regards to it being updated in the near future, or more accurately, that Apple hasn't forgotten about it. I don't see anything coming from him that points to the iMac on the 12th.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love for it to be. I just don't see it. Perhaps a screenshot of your actual twitter conversation could clarify the lines that you are reading between.

The next thing he said was that apple has "a lot going on" and in the context that it was I'm pretty sure he meant regarding the sept 12 event since everyone was talking to him regarding the sept 12. I rather not screen shot for security purposes. Maybe you can go on his twitter. While I'm not a 100% sure that he meant the sept 12 release, I got a good feeling that he did mean on the context of sept 12. Also
recent rumors points out to September. And as for past history indicating that iOS and macs don't go together, history means nothing most of us thought wwdc would be the time then MT lion release like last year with the air, nothing came out. Last year wwdc nothing came out but this year did. So history doesn't mean anything. Anything could happen on sept 12 wether be iMac or not. As for the iPad mini rumors why would apple release then if they could just release 3 month down the line around feb 2013 with new iPad with the new pin connectors and everything. Apple is gonna have iPods and iPad mini with new connectors but nothing on the bigger iPad?. I dont think so. Also noticed how no part leaks have been shown up about this new iPad mini. So with that in mind that opens up time on the event for new iMacs and mac minis.
