The next thing he said was that apple has "a lot going on" and in the context that it was I'm pretty sure he meant regarding the sept 12 event since everyone was talking to him regarding the sept 12. I rather not screen shot for security purposes. Maybe you can go on his twitter. While I'm not a 100% sure that he meant the sept 12 release, I got a good feeling that he did mean on the context of sept 12. Also
recent rumors points out to September. And as for past history indicating that iOS and macs don't go together, history means nothing most of us thought wwdc would be the time then MT lion release like last year with the air, nothing came out. Last year wwdc nothing came out but this year did. So history doesn't mean anything. Anything could happen on sept 12 wether be iMac or not. As for the iPad mini rumors why would apple release then if they could just release 3 month down the line around feb 2013 with new iPad with the new pin connectors and everything. Apple is gonna have iPods and iPad mini with new connectors but nothing on the bigger iPad?. I dont think so. Also noticed how no part leaks have been shown up about this new iPad mini. So with that in mind that opens up time on the event for new iMacs and mac minis.

They wouldn't miss out on releasing the iPad mini before Xmas. They want to get a foothold in the smaller tablet market as well.

i think apple would release them together because then they can put the iphone in front an leave it there for the rest of the year and get the imac little banner on the bottom.

Why would they both have to be released at the same time/event for that to happen? Let's say that the iPhone and iPad mini are announced on September 12th. Two weeks later the iMac could show up as one of those banners on the main page.

As I said before it would get plenty of press. Apple sends out press releases to all the major news and tech blogs as well as review units. They don't need to hold an event, or take up time at another event, to say "Laminated screens, faster processors, more SSD options".

I just don't see building up hype for an iMac at the iPhone event. Remember the build up to WWDC? If you took all the rumors together apparently Apple was going to announce new Macbook Airs, a new Retina Macbook, new Macbook Pros, new iMacs, new Mac Minis, new Mac Pros, Mountain Lion, iOS 6, a 4G iPhone, an iPad Mini, and a thinner full size iPad.

I agree with what another user in this thread said (forget name).

If Apple does do the hardware refresh on Sept 12, they won't mention it at the event it will just appear on the website when you go to buy your new iPhone/iPad.

If the next iMac update just includes Ivy Bridge, USB 3, and different video card and/or drive options, I would expect it to appear on the Apple Store one day without much fanfare. Only a significant re-design (retina, case change, etc.) would warrant an announcement at an event, and I doubt if Apple would do that at the same time as an iPhone/iPad announcement. Anyway, it looks like we have a new target date of Sept. 12 for disappointment. :)

I've only had my Air for a few days now and loving it every second. I forgot how convenient a NoteBook is.

I wanted a new iMac just for the sake of upgrading but with my set up, added a 24" Dell UltraSharp U2412M...

I pretty much don't care if Apple doesn't release a new iMac...ever.

Me too! Loving my new MBA every second I can! Me and D3 have been quite happy with the new Air...quite the threesome lol ;)

There's gonna be a new design for the simple fact that there are lamination issues. They have been doing the same screen since 2009 why would they have these problems now. To solidify my theory the iMac has been delayed for quite some time now, that leads me to believe that they are working on something new because I don't believe that they would put on a new screen and keep the same box. New design is imminent I don't care what anyone says. If they are not doing so they would have released them either at wwdc or with mt lion and they didn't now the next thing is the sept 12 event according to Kou article theres a great chance that the iMac will be ready by September and there's a September event..... So what else do we need ? Apple to send a letter to your house? Come on guys it's pretty obvious. Don't rely on past history to determine apple releases every apple release has been different so we can't rely on that.

What are your settings and fps like out of curiosity?

In Bootcamp, I play with D3 on the Air's max resolution of 1366x768, shadows off, clutter detail low, textures high, and physics on high. I average around a steady 30-35 FPS. In doors, I'll jump up to roughly 40 FPS. Mind you I have 8GB of RAM so that increases the VRAM to 512MB. D3 is completely playable on the Air. I've also been enjoying Bastion and Super Meat Boy on Steam. I can't even imagine how beautiful D3 would run on the next generation iMac! Can't wait!

I've seen August 7th mentioned for iMacs. Anyone know why?

That would be AWESOME.

Yeah, that'd be the right date to introduce a quiet update since most schools do their shopping in August. September would be too late for that. If I were responsible for the product introduction timeline- I'd choose August. That's the best time to do that.

Some sketchy German site proclaimed an Apple keynote was taking place Aug 7. If it were true, it could only be iMacs and/or 13" rMBPs and/or :apple:TV (of topics that we're aware exist). Nobody else seems to have picked it up and corroborated it though.

i think if that event would exist we would have known by now, apple would send out invitations which they havent.aug 7 is out of the question for an event.

if there would be a 7th of august imac and perhaps mini update, it would just be added to the website without any warning. It's not something that requires a keynote.

I'm debating low end Macbook Air with 8gb of ram, and then saving (again) for the iMac to have both machines. But I often question whether or not I will need the air. It will be nice to have when I stay late at the office to work on my own personal projects, but otherwise, I'm not too sure....

why are some people saying aug 7? there arent any rumors that im aware of, i think if it were to be that close we would know something at least some sort of news. Every rumor site is pretty much saying, sept-oct. I wish to be tomorrow for the matter but aug 7 doesnt seem to be the date. Lets not start mentioning every upcoming Tuesday.

I needed a machine as I didn't have one, so my purchase was completely necessary. I wasn't willing to drop some serious $ on the 2011 iMac. The MBA is great! At first I was like maybe I'll just sell the Air when the new iMacs are released but the cute little machine has grown significantly on me, and for a little machine, it packs quite the punch! I'll keep the Air and pick up the new iMac, and the Air will be my back up machine.

I agree. I would LOVE for it to be aug 7, but theres no shot. We would have heard some hint of it by now, but everything else we've heard seems to point to late sept/oct, and since the iphone is clearly getting the attention in sept, my guess is a silent bump on iphone day or hopefully earlier rather than later in oct.

My hunch don't say aug7 but I disagree that we would have heard anything. Hardly any iMac update I can remember has had any rumors before 1-2 days before a release. Even the redesigned 2009 model didn't have any... Infact there were more rumors about the touchpad mouse than the Mac itself. I think a lot of people are waiting for new iMacs, from the responses I see everywhere on forums and blogs and news sites - but I guess apples iMac supply chain is pretty airtight.

i think you and i are way to wishful. i hope its augs 7 but i just dont believe it because recent rumors point out to sept-oct. I also dont believe because thats want it to be therefore apple will do otherwise. wwdc, with ml, and now the 7th. it just idk. Im very confident that apple is working on something great like new screens and design hence the delay.

I hope you are right... That they are up to something great. A spec bump of ivy bridge and 680m cards only in October would be a pretty disappointing update after such a huge delay...

There are so many products that are due and overdue that anything is possible. The only one that we know has been put off till next year (if at all) is the Mac Pro. Everything else is due for an update. Add to that, the 13" Retina and ipad mini, and you have a pretty long list. My guess is whatever makes the most profit for Apple will be at the top (iphone) and then down the list is profitability order. We'll see. . . . .

My gut feeling says it will be october release for the iMac & 13 retina mbp.
in 2010 apple have the usual september event for ipod, itunes etc, and the next month they got the back to the mac event.

If there is any reason to make an event on october, It will be the 13 inch retina mbp, iwork 2012 (it is long overdue with the iwork 09) and probably the redesign of the iMac (without retina),
The redesign of the iMac would follow the trend in 2007, 2009 and maybe now in 2012.
but I wouldn't know how they would redesign from the current iMac, It is already the perfect design for me.

On the september event could be the iphone, ipod & itunes redesign and the rumored ipad mini.

those are 3 big things with each event, Apple as far as i know is very fond with the "rule of three", so tim cook would say "we are very excited to be here today, and we would like to talk about three things....". :)

I could not see that apple would launch them at once (the iphone, etc & the mac's), the apple store would be a chaos on launch day.
