Ya know, with the new iPhone screen dimensions complicating program design, why not announce they've "solved the problem" of resolution & dimensions making that and a 1.5x resolution iMac a no-brainer "it just works" upgrade? That would resolve several problems (the sheer pixel count of a 2x "retina" 27-inch display, the iPad Mini screen specs, the 16x9 iPhone 5 screen layout, and probably others to come like a smarter iPod Nano) in a manner making the live introduction of the iMac 2012 viable (which a speed bump, laminated screen, and no optical drive just don't add up to).

It wont take too long before we see threads about the Iphone 2013 :D

Which no doubt is already well prototyped. With ease we could speculate it has almost no bezel (resolving the looming "the iPhone 5 is too big!" complaints), 2x the cores/memory/storage, improved power balance (smaller battery, longer usage time), thinner screen, more radio standards, etc. Without much more of a leap we could speculate it includes per-pixel image sensing, 3D cameras, 3D display, and a new AI named Jane. Post these enough in the echo chamber and everyone will be convinced it's real, keeping MacRumors et al well-funded for another year.

Guys, if you don't like the stuff on the front page, then just don't look at the front page. Were it not for the iOS stuff, the amount of iMac articles would be.. exactly the same. And the front page wouldn't change for days at a time.

the information is for us the readers, its intended for us so in theory we shouldnt just stop looking at the front page. mac rumors tagline goes like this "news and rumors YOU care about" i dont care about the iphone anymore, sure im super exited for it but i just want to hear about something we dont know about i dont care if its an imac or new ipod touch, just something else besides the iphone. i prefer the imac since its long overdue, but i just really think its a little overkill now with these new iphone rumors dont you think so ?

Wouldn't you want to know every single iMac rumour that came out? Well there are iPhone fans that want every single iPhone rumour. Just because theres no info you cant blame the media for printing iPhone stories. If there is an iMac one we hear about it. Erdy.Hilario this isn't directed to you personally!

Anyway, just had a look at the Mac Mini threads and someone who ordered one at the end of last month just got an email saying the following:

"Due to an unexpected delay, we are unable to ship the following item(s)
by the date that you were originally quoted:

MC816LL/A, MAC MINI 2.5/2X2GB/500/AP/BT-USA
will now ship on or before
Sep 12, 2012"

Interesting as there might be a mini to be released that has had almost 0 rumours. I guess we now need to wait for someone who ordered an iMac to get the same email.

It might have been this thread or one of the other 100 threads on this topic where someone stated that this occurs when the product is bought close to the refresh. The new delivery date of Sep 12th is very interesting!

ugh!!! i cant wait for the new iphone to come out, so the rumor sites can finally stop posting "leaked photos" of the new iphone, i bet they still will do it they would talk about the next iphone right after the this coming up comes out, they rather talk about that than the long overdue imacs its pissing me off, it doesnt bother me if they talk about other devices rather than the imac its just its been a LOT like A LOT of iphone rumors crap, im so sick and tired of it.
-End Rant-

Yes. Hard for me to get excited about these weak little mobile devices. Sure, they're great for little stuff, but can't do any of the cool tricks that make computers so damn awesome. At least surface pro is a full pc, but a 10" screen is tiny for creative work.

Once you're an artist using breakthrough tools like zbrush, this other crap is just boring. And grown men throw tantrums about it, like they're going to do more than send a text and play tap tap… Put up the toys and bring on the real tech

I would be willing to be it has the same form factor and is just bumped in specs like the 3gs and 4s were updated.

Anyways back to iMac I still need one...

I'm costantly monitoring iMac availability in the 20 Apple Store in the NY Area, and i get some intresting results...

The low-end 27" iMac is now out of stock in 17 out of 20 stores, yesterday the re-stocking date for almost all of them was on the 6th, now it has slipped to the 7th for every single store.

Same story for the high-end 27", till yesterday the availability date was for the 10th, now 11th for every store...

Don't know what this means though... but such a shortage MUST mean something... and i don't think it's only what we want to see this time. NY Apple Stores are among the most important worldwide.

Some news on the monitoring on the NY area.

The low-end 27" is now out of stock in 14 out of 20 stores, and with another day passing the availability has slipped to from 7th to 10th of september in almost every store.

On the high-end side, availability slipped to 12th.

It seems that every day passing by the restocking for these stores slips accordingly...

I'm really sorry for all you guys looking to buy a 2011 iMac and finding low stock everywhere ... that's just because every fr3@/ing machine has been sent to retailers and Apple Stores here in Italy !!! I check availability almost hourly and there's always everything at your disposal immediately ...

I noticed that yesterday myself, the RomaEst Apple Store was out of the higher-end 21.5" at 9:15, and in the early afternoon it was restocked. I checked this via the Apple Store app through the reservation tool.
Speriamo bene...

Apparently we sent you more.. I'm down to 2/20 local stores having at least one of each. Availability ranges from the 7th to the 12th.

if they aren't going to talk about the imac in october, what gets paired with the ipad relaunch?
QUOTE]

March: iPad/Apple TV
June/July: WWDC - iOS preview, OSX preview
Sept: iPhone/iPod
October: Music/iTunes & Service updates (iTunes Match) Rumored Mini iPad...

If they do release the Mini iPad in March, I assume that it's next refresh will take place along side iPad's moving forward (starting in 2014). No sense in discussing these seperately... Summer/Fall will probably be a targeted area for iMac's, Mini's; servers; etc.

I'm dying for the new iMac to be released. Actually sold my 24inch Alum iMac and am now computer less... It's a shame that the iMac hasnt had a significant upgrade in the last few years; however, i feel like Desktops are where they need to be. What else can you add to them aside from typical hardware updates?? The only thing i can think of would be along the lines of projection systems, finger print scanners; etc - everything your average user would never ever need.

Hoping for a new iMac next week!!! Hoping for an Apple TV at some point too!! lol.... Fingers crossed, but not holding my breath.

A few days ago stock was aplenty in all of the stores near me, now at least half a dozen stores expect shipments on the 12th. Unusual to see all of them have the same date for both the 21 and 27 inch.

Could just be from shipments from China mostly being packed to the brim with iPhone 5 boxes. I don't want to get my hopes up.

Well, if the WWDC was ios and oxs preview...if they were previewing the ios of the new iphone 5 and will now release the iphone 5 next week. I guess the osx preview at WWDC was for the new imacs comming out next week as well?

March: ipad/Apple TV
June/July: WWDC - iOS preview, OSX preview
Sept: iphone/iPod, imacs
october: music/itunes & service updates and mini ipad

imacs: reduced glare (layer of glass removed) screens, nvidia 675M 680M or Raedon 7970M for the high end 27" nvidia 650M/660/670M 1G VRAM for the low/high end 21.5". Ivy bridge all around, 256/512/750 SSD options.

I wish this were to be true so bad. But I think that October only for a music/iTunes and other services event only it's a bit unrealistic. To be honest with you the iMacs sadly seem to be pointing out more towards October timeframe which sucks.

iMovie and Apple JAVA were just updated.... I'll take this as a sign for tomorrow or Friday.

I came to the same conclusion. The 12th is appearing in a number of cases including the retina MacBook Pro. It's possible that Apple is using ALL its available FedEx/UPS shipment space to ship enough "product" for availability on the 12th. And that we're jumping to the wrong conclusion about the lack of availability of the current iMac. I hope i'm wrong.

I remember that during a previous iPhone release it was reported that FedEx was shipping large quantities of iPhones in the last few days before release. The are held at local FedEx depots in locked cages for delivery to Apple retail stores the day of release. Apple has 250 stores in the US alone, not including BestBuy, etc. That's a lot of pallets of iPhones coming from China.

How big are the boxes? You can tell by the size if whatever's inside is a phone or a computer.
