So if we accept his sources corrected him (which is very likely), it would point to a late Oct or November launch as it talks of launch ahead of the holiday season. Could it be, though that his sources scolded him for revealing too much so hastily changing the URL and putting some vague reference to a couple of other dates meant he wasn't exposing his contact too much?

Bah I just re-read the article and I'm calling it a bluff. I doubt the guy has any better sources and anyone here. He just rehashes a small part of the speculation that's been going on in here for a while now.

I've been hoping for the Sept. 12 release of the iMac, but it just donned on me that if the iMac does coincide with the new iPhone I'm going to be out a good bit more cash at the same time. Glad I've had months and months to save ;)

That's what I don't get. Releasing the iMac BEFORE the iPhone would have made sense: people will buy the iPhone no matter what, so it would have been best to push the iMac earlier, as it's not really an instinctive purchase (in part because the iPhone is perceived as costing less if you get it with a carrier: "oh it's just €49 upfront and €45/mo!", vs. "ugh, €1199 all at once".)

I suppose we shall wait and see. :(

i wish itd be true but like i said, things to be pointing out more to october, it seemed to make sense a long time ago when i made this thread, but now things just seem to be pointing out to October however i REALLY REALLY REALLY!!! wish itd be next week

But why October and not, say, the second half of September? It seems quite clear at this point that the iMac is not going to be such a huge revolution, rather just a minor spec bumb and possibly a slightly modified new bezel. Would it really need an event of its own instead of just having it pushed out silently on the site on or after Sept 12?

I am hoping that they up the RAM and gpu, and make the the I7 a minimum cpu...

for the same price, as well as usb3 etc atc.

Is this possible, or will the spec increase up the price?

I have a hard time imagining anything happening between iPhone Event Date (9/12) and iPhone Launch Date (9/21), or the following week while there's still lines at Apple stores to get iPhones.

Plus from the latest Kuo report they are seeing better yields on 21" screens than 27", and the 27" iMacs don't appear to be ready until October.

Exactly.

Maybe they are just simply not ready yet. I can't see Apple sitting on this pent up demand if they had them ready no matter when it was. Anyway, it sounds like October to me.

His tweet reply was...

"Sorry that Tweet should not have said next week. It’s soon but I don’t have an exact date."

@ClaytonMorris yeah you blew it there. MacRumors went stir crazy on the news of an imminent release.

@scrub175 Not really. "Imminent" is exactly the word I got. So you can parse anyway you like.

I kind of hate how rational you are.

Rofl. You're not the only one.

I can't get emotional about this.. because if I did, the fact that I was ready to buy in JUNE 2011 and changed my mind to squeeze another year out of my 2007 model would be affecting my sanity.

Kinda hard to stuff an iMac chassis down your shirt.

This is true, and I agree, but we have had nothing apart from some rumour about gluing the screen to the outer glass, which doesn't not necessarily mean a design change.
No one wants a redesign more than me, I have just become sceptical. I mean, if you had told me 12 months ago (when you, I, and many others were waiting for a new iMac) that we would get to September '12 without even a spec bump, I would have laughed. But here we are, still. I just have lost faith a bit, my rMBP has helped the wait to be less painful.

Saying that, as soon as we get a redesign with the different things I would like, I will buy one ASAP.

Mine is a 2006, though I've been ready to buy "only" since January. I'm not particularly emotional about it, after all a few more weeks are not the end of the world. But it is frustrating to see Tuesdays come and go one after another. At least each failed one brings us closer to the good one.
(I'm just glad that I don't currently have any job that requires a lot of power!)
