Mostly I think it's because anything outside of the WWDC tends to be a focussed events. When they have the iPad event - it's just about the iPad. Pretty much every iPhone event has just been about the iPhone. The iPods are pretty much the same. Right now we have no evidence, not even from well placed pundits like Jim Darlimple or John Gruber saying that this event is anything but iOS 6 and the new iPhone.

If new iMacs are coming its not going to be in a keynote - I think they will be a silent upgrade on the website and that's it. Apple hasn't been giving a whole lot of love to their desktop line and I don't see that changing much.

Wasn't the 2009 27" iMac release (not really a spec bump and not really a redesign) a quite release?

I really can't remember.

They released the new ATV with the latest iPad.

The Apple TV is an iOS device though - and there is somewhat of a relationship - Airplay. I don't see the same thing with a thousand dollar computer that was last updated 2 years ago. Totally different product category.

In the opposite direction, they also updated Airport Express during WWDC 2012, without a word during the keynote. They did sneakily mention it in a screenshot, though! :D

Yea, but as I pointed out before - WWDC is always an exception since they can announce all sorts of stuff that doesn't necessarily have anything in common.

one thing is for sure though, im kinda gonna feel like taking it personal a little bit even though i know apple is specifically not targeting me but look at this: wait for the new mac pro... they give it a bs update then i said well i wait for the 27 inch imacs ... they take the longest time in history to be updated, literately. now they are gonna get an update but no 27 inch model !!!!!!!!!WTF !! WTF!! seriously.. i hope this is not true because im gonna flip!  lol at this point its gonna be really hard not to take personal... but anyways its digitimes but they are same almost the same thing as that kuo guy.. i hope apple doesnt skip the 27 inch... i hope..

They're talking about three new iMacs and there the high-end will be postponed. That means probably a 32'' iMac. So we get a 21'' and a 27'' :)

what makes you think it wouldnt be a 21.5 a 24 and a 27. the 27 being the delay one..

Mhh, I don't really know but I can not imagine that they are not releasing a new 27''. Maybe it should be a 21'', a 27'' and a 21'' Retina with this one being delayed.. Nobody knows :D

It's kinda funny if they release new iMacs this week and we will allready have a reason to wait even longer for another release coming soon. If we are talking about a 1-2 month delay I really hope they will take orders right away so I don't buy a new iMac now and see another better oming out before Xmas- that would really stink. But as ling as I can get a 27" with USB and a better screen and faster processors and GPU than today's machine I guess I can be happy for a while. If I don't see a t least a 27" in the new iMacs I will be completely devastated. Let's hope digitimes are half wrong.

Anyone else consider whether or not there will be some sort of rev A type problems with this new screen technology? The lower yield and "rush" to get it released has me wondering.

I sure hope not, it would really stink to finally get the 2012 iMac only to have some weird issue (think yellow screen problem on the 2009, 2010, and 2011 models) or something along those lines.

Hate to be a buzz kill :(

with the number of units being returned, got a feeling Apple seriously addressed this issue this time round

Crossed my mind too. Then again the delay could be partly to make sure it will be top notch quality?

I agree! :)

I am always amazed that with the number of people involved in imac design, production etc etc that the leaks are minimal as to the detail of what we are about to get.

I've thought about that.. basically, you'd have to be quite the gambler to buy this iMac, especially from the first batch, and NOT get AppleCare.

so a one-month wait post-release is in order? i was kinda counting on that, i dont want any loose ends...
