Rofl. You're not the only one.

I can't get emotional about this.. because if I did, the fact that I was ready to buy in JUNE 2011 and changed my mind to squeeze another year out of my 2007 model would be affecting my sanity.

I admire your patience over these past few months. I've only been waiting since May and I've wasted too long wishing the seemingly never arriving launch date here

i wish apple just release the damm thing... you gonna get a crap load of money from us so... damm  frustration!!! LOL

Ahh, sanity he says. Good one : )

October of 2009 is "ages" ago?

The reason that there has not been an event with the iMac is because the iMac has not gotten a complete overhaul.

Assuming this is correct, then 378,399,000 people have been added to our population. I’d say a lot of ‘aging' going on here…

Oops ... seems like someone did worse than me LOL

Depends on your point of view. I decided to wait in June '11 not because "the next one is right around the corner", because it certainly wasn't.. but because I decided that for the tasks I was currently performing the '07 model would suffice for another year. Granted, the until-now regular 9-ish month upgrade cycle was a factor in the decision, but it wasn't the primary driver. My income tax refund is my computer upgrade funds, so the '11 upgrade funds went to a new PC for the wife instead. I've only been waiting for the "next one right around the corner" since March or so when I got my '12 refund. The fact that the model available to buy is the same one I didn't buy last year is more than a little disappointing.

Ahh, yet another sophisticated post from a seemingly never ending well of wisdom and opinion.

I just meant that you took the decision of waiting for a new iMac long before I did ... I was about to buy a 2011 last September (1 year ago, sic !), but a small (and damn expensive) car accident plus the rumors of a January Ivy Bridge release convinced me to wait for 2012 : that's the reason why, when the day will come, I'll order a new iMac the minute after the Apple Store will be on line again !!!

I guess is not happening on sep 12 guys... Massive fail. This sucks. As you can see from the picture. The banners in Yerba buena are clearly iOS icons referring (IMO) an iOS event strictly.

That should not matter. iPhone and iMac would never share stage anyway. If they release an iMac this week it will be a silent refresh alongside the site update. Though I have doubt but it could happen. But it would not be mentioned just the same way the Mac pro wasn't mentioned under wwdc.

I don't see why Apple can't mention the iMac just because it's an iPhone event.

But then again...they would get a lot of returns. I could see the push to October.

Call me masochistic but I still want to delude myself. How about the traditional "We have sold this much last quarter, bla bla iTunes, bla bla iPads, bla bla laptops, bla bla desktop computers, and today we're introducing the new iMac with a reduced-glare screen, USB 3, new video card, 21.5 and 27-inch, at these prices. And that's iMac. Now, iPhone. We have sold bla bla worldwide bla bla and today it all changes again: iPhone 5, longer, sexier, come and lock yourself in to your favorite carrier for another 30 months, etc."

(Obviously, as long as it's out, I don't care if mister Cook talks about it or not on stage...)

See I disagree with you, because the 3GS was introduced with new MacBooks so don't ever say iPhone and iMac would never share stage, I hate when people say that because anything could happen at any event we don't schedule releases for apple so we don't know how they internally work. Also iMacs its definitely going to be a new design so they could introduce it at a event so just to make a bigger impact. So I wouldn't think they would just do an unmentioned iMac release. However I'm today 90% sure that it would not happen on sep 12. Is there a chance that they'd introduce them without an event? Very probable.

Why would they get lots of returns? 99% of people who bought an imac in the last month aren't even aware (or care) that there is an apple event on Wednesday. Some 50 year old lady who walked into Best Buy and picked up the base 21.5" sandy bridge model to play facebook games on, doesn't care about usb3.

I didn't even know they released the 3GS and the a MacBook at the same time. That just gives me more hope :D they could just as well do that again then. We all know there has been an unplanned delay because of the screen lamination, so the release date isn't ideal anyway. Maybe they will settle with a synced release then. Doesn't really matter if they release it now or in 2 weeks - the iPhone mayhem would still eat up most of the newspaper headlines then too. Guess we just have to wait and see. I vote 60% not coming 12th, and 40% yes 12th... A bit more optimistic.

Not a great source but it's yet another one stating iMacs will be released next week:

http://www.techeater.com/mobile/detail/002842/

they dont claim to have any sources or anything.. i think they just reported on the fox news article, but they didnt updated it afte the guy who posted on fox said that sep 12 for the imacs was just an error. i hope they release it on sep 12 but theres no evidence to this.

I think there is enough evidence to say that it will be a silent refresh with anti glare screen. If true then we could see it on the 12th, earlier or later.

Mac Pro was said to be getting a redesign in 2013 and redesign will be a great opportunity to show it off at an event and why just show off one when you can do mini, iMac and mac pro. Most likely the iMac will get the redesign in 2013 aka no mention on stage for this year just a silent spec bump.

I don't see why Apple can't mention the iMac just because it's an iPhone event.

Mostly I think it's because anything outside of the WWDC tends to be a focussed events. When they have the iPad event - it's just about the iPad. Pretty much every iPhone event has just been about the iPhone. The iPods are pretty much the same. Right now we have no evidence, not even from well placed pundits like Jim Darlimple or John Gruber saying that this event is anything but iOS 6 and the new iPhone.

If new iMacs are coming its not going to be in a keynote - I think they will be a silent upgrade on the website and that's it. Apple hasn't been giving a whole lot of love to their desktop line and I don't see that changing much.

They released the new ATV with the latest iPad.
