Anyone who allows their app to compile with the gloss effect flag enabled needs to be taken out back and shot.

It looks horrendous and so many big name companies still use it.

Looking forward to the new "flat" design but I hope it goes way beyond just removing the gloss effect. I'd like the pinstripe pattern used in settings etc to be revamped.

There's a big reason why I don't believe this. The newsstand icon just looks completely cut off around the edges just like some Winterboard themes do to non-native icons.

Lol! Guys! This is obviously a picture of an early ios7 build taken with the 1st gen iPhone and opened up in the photo app on the first gen phone while another 1st gen iPhone took a pic of the first 1st gen iPhone showing the pic of iOS7. Hence the bad image quality and the skewing of the image not being aligned with the iPhone that took the 2nd pic. If anyone needs me to reverse engineer anything else, I'll be here all week :)

That's the worst fake photo i've seen in years....! Still looking forward to seeing something more fundamental from iOS7 @ WWDC... Fingers crossed!

I like iOS's design. But I think it would give a little more pizzaz if they re-designed the GUI. Stick with the interface, but a graphic change is what I guess I am saying. Maybe move away from how all the icons have to be that square shape.

I'm probably in the minority, but I don't like that at all. The skeuomorphism got a little out of hand, but I loved the lack of monotony in the home screen (in terms of the article stating some had boarders, some didnt, some were glossy, some weren't.)

Apple's biggest criticism with iOS is that its monotonous and stale. So they answer that by making the home screen more monotonous and stale, just because its "flat." Oooooo ahhhh.

If my notes app doesnt look like a notepad in iOS 7, I'm out.

24-hour time means fake?!?

there are many people in the EU and in the rest of world that stick to the 24 hour time display. Hell, if you change your region to french or spanish, the time will automatically change to the 24 hour one.

This doesn't mean that it is fake.

Sad that they're wasting so much time and money on so little 'improvement'. I wish Apple would do something substantial like offering support across iOS/MacOS/Classic so I could access all my data and run all my programs on all my devices. The hardware has the power - Apple's just impotent by choice. Take the blue pill.

I don't think the home screen was really the area that a redesign effort was supposed to target in the first place? Inside of apps, settings, and lock screens are the particular areas of interest IMO.

it's not fake, it's real.

And yes, the icons have changed. Just not as muched as people hoped, but people should learn to appreciate what they have: Icons which people relate too, the 'friendliness' of ios is something that's not just skeuomorphism, it's a quality! Jony ive knows like no other how to capture that emotion, and he made sure it didn't go away, as far as i can tell from the looks of this very crappy spyshot.

Ios = vibrant app icons with attention for detail, not some minimalist two-toned theme like windows phone.

Learn to appreciate the qualities of ios in stead of complaining that you're bored. Don't you think android or wp will bore you in two years? Of course it will! You're right, ios hasn't changed in years, simply because ios has been the absolute #1 in terms of ui and design for years. That's something that has been and will remain for the coming years.

Being bored is a symptom of quality. Ios doesn't age, its fundamentals are superb and timeless. Just lik the current macbook pro design or the porsche 911.

My point: Stop being bored and enjoy the rich, colourful and 'human' icons in stead of looking at the neighbor's grass which is always greener from your side of the fence.

+1 :)

This is a case of the photo being so bad I'm inclined to accept it as real. Nobody would think of faking an image to look this bad, with such screwing problems as icons fuzzier than status bar, and icons grossly un-aligned with frame. More of a case of something going on which casual observers would not think of which would, when understood, be a sensible explanation (such as having a screen-hider overlay, shot thru a polarized lens; you get the idea).
