Sad that they're wasting so much time and money on so little 'improvement'.

It's such attention to detail which made :apple: the valuable powerhouse it is. People keep complaining about every little tweak, yet buy the sum of those changes in droves voting with wallets and feet.

This is a case of the photo being so bad I'm inclined to accept it as real. Nobody would think of faking an image to look this bad, with such screwing problems as icons fuzzier than status bar, and icons grossly un-aligned with frame. More of a case of something going on which casual observers would not think of which would, when understood, be a sensible explanation (such as having a screen-hider overlay, shot thru a polarized lens; you get the idea).

that is what i was thinking. a rumor came out some time ago that said that apple employees that were given access to the new os would have to put on polarizing filters. if someone tried to capture a photo of the new os, it would be hard to get a sharp, clear picture.

The screen is not on place. Fake

A) The screen position is irrelevant. A privacy film would cause a photo to look like this.

B) If you were taking a picture of a top secret product, you would likely have to take it in a low light situation very quickly. This could easily be an iPhone 5 camera picture but given the conditions, it's going to end up looking terrible.

C) But I still think that this is a Jailbreak tweak on a screen with an older iPhone.

Seems weird they would use anything but an iPhone 5 device (4inch screen) for testing...

The new iOS always works on a couple of generation of devices at least- they would be testing iOS 7 on iPhone 4, 4S, 5, etc. They were still selling the 3GS up to the time the 5 debuted. I doubt iOS 7 will only work on the next generation iPhone.

Well most of the testing will be done on the iPhone 5 but I'm sure they'll do some on older devices to see if it plays nice with them.

Interesting if this screenshot is real. Seems to contradict the black and white rumour that was going around.

Exactly - see what I wrote above.

Actually, the black and white more likely references the 'in app' interface. Look at the podcast app once you've launched it. It's interface is black and silver/white. I have a feeling this is a good idea of what we will see in all Apple apps moving forward.

*IF* this is legit, it makes since. Notice on iOS, up to iOS 6, how the phone and messages apps have the diagonal lines from upper right to lower left, the mail app has clouds, safari compass points etc. Plus the oval highlight in the upper half. I bet all that little detail is gone and they look more like the facebook, dropbox, photoshop app icons. Subtle, flatter, but not drastic.

I really hope this isn't real. It doesn't look like enough of a change for me to continue using what has become a very stale OS. If there aren't any drastic changes, I might have to switch platforms. Never thought I'd say such a thing. It's a shame considering how much I've spent in the app store.

EDIT: After taking a closer look, it appears to be an obvious fake.
Seriously? You need change? An OS all of a sudden becomes useless if it does not require radical retraining? Do you even have a job? Must be nice to be one of the idle rich.

If you are so fickle then you are either too rich or simple don't use apps/games on the iPhone right now. You would be better served with a glossy/fake smartphone that is just a feature phone with a series of themes that you can set.
I actually hate the idea of change for the sake of change. I am not defined by the gadgets I use and I really don't care what other people think is "hip" or cool. I defined those for myself. If I was a hipster then I would be constantly chasing trends instead of setting them.

Looks like a lot of people here want change for change's sake to add excitement in their lives.

It's a good thing they're not using Android cos that platform didn't even get an update this year. Not a bad move considering how buggy 4.2 is.

The iPhone 5 has 8-megapixel camera with advanced lens technology ever built into a phone, the Galaxy S4 has improved camera, the Nokia Lumia 920 and Pureview 808 capture photos in low-light impressively good for a mobile phone. Now why is this photo looks blurry? Come on now.

I've just received a new leaked image of iOS 7.

Seems legit. ;)

You're SO mistaken if you truly believe this.

Your iOS is nothing more but the quickest path to your apps. There shouldn't be an extra layer between unlocking your phone and your destination (the app).

iOS and its grid of icons is the best example of minimalist design UI focused entirely on the user and nothing less.

Widgets, hubs, tiles, they're all distractions. Apple gets this. It shouldn't change.

This is a false efficiency that you mention, filled with buzzwords stolen from Apple marketing (you shouldn't plagiarize). Sure you go from lock screen to a sea of app icons. Great.

1) To get a quick view of 3 types of info: weather, new emails, top news. You have to go in and out of 3 apps. How many button presses and data loads is that? Unfortunately, Notification Center is half baked.

2) Folders seems like a band-aid approach to app organization. Not elegant, it uses the old desktop paradigm.

3) "Fast" app switching takes 2 physical button presses and a screen tap.

4) The multitude of icon designs clashes with the physical hardware. Screen after screen of ugly icons is hardly a "minimalistic design focused on the user"

I don't understand what this fascination with "flat" is lately. Seems backwards to me. I think icons and UI elements should be 3D looking and beautiful, not flat and boring. Just because MS went flat doesn't mean Apple has to.

I don't think iOS7's UI will be completely one or the other, there's a happy medium in there. I think the new UI Google has been pushing in their newer apps is that happy medium.

Seems legit. ;)

Winner! This person has the real leaked picture.

Funny thing: you post that on a well viewed blog and within hours that picture could be viral and I bet even MacRumors would make an article about it! Be ready you're about to be first page!

I call this rumor true. Early alpha using iPhone 4. The allignment can have something to do with the new panorama swipe. I think this is it.

Could someone please point out the changes? Looks identical to current at least with this level detail.
