There used to be a wired version of the current wireless keyboard (without the numeric keypad). This new image looks like it might be for a return of the wired keyboard. Three issues however:

  1. Apple is pushing wireless everything so a wired keyboard is unlikely
  2. If wireless, having the keys backlit will be a disaster for battery life.
  3. As pointed out in the original post, the power switch won't work for a wireless keyboard.

Make it full size (number pad) and black keys and backlit and I'll buy two! Even if it isn't wireless!

I don't remember that one.

Apple seriously needs to consider producing a full size wireless keyboard with numeric pad. Consumers have been asking for one for years. If they are refreshing the design, why not add this?

Backlight would be great!
Adding a Siri Key would be a huge plus.
Adding an easy means to switch to an alternative keyboard on an IOS device would be even better!

Still no full sized keyboard with number pad.....

Not going to happen. This is only worthwhile for people who spend a lot of time inputting numbers, which is not the typical user. There are standalone keypads for this.

I've got one! Looking it up in the Mactracker app it was model number A1242 and was sold March 2009 through December 2010. It didn't last long for sale. Mactracker says:
Accompanying the Early 2009 iMac revisions is a new version of the wired keyboard, which omits the numeric pad as with its wireless counterpart. The full keyboard with numeric pad remains available as a built-to-order option, as well as a separate purchase.

Sould make the keys black... there is no Mac or related device with white details except for the mouse.... Also, they should wait and put that new macbook tech in there + touch id.... this would be minor at most...

what's there to update? it's perfect.

ok, it should have a usb charger and built in battery.

Well, force touch would be nice. I tried it at the Apple Store this weekend on the new Macbook Pro, and at the risk of sounding like some rabid fanboi, this thing surprized me in ways Apple hasn't done in a long while.

I went out of my way to turn off the computer to make sure the thing doesn't move. The feedback it gives is utterly convincing. It's rare when I can know a thing (this doesn't move) and yet the experience is entirely contrary. I never thought much of haptic feedback, having only experienced it in things like the Blackberry Storm a million years ago. But this... this is really impressive. I want whatever new capabilities this technology enables brought to my iMac.

The keyboard... meh. I honestly still like my Cherry MX keys. Feels like I'm a 'real' writer. :p
