I've never understood the hatred towards the new Magic Toolbar. I think its going o be awesome!

I think it's a dumb waste of time brought to you by the company that now considers watch straps and Emoji's as 'innovation'

meanwhile in the working world I'm glad that my 2013 MacBook Pro still has an HDMI port two USB ports normal MagSafe and some thunderbolt ports... I just wish I could get 16 GB for it.

Courageous? My ark.

Yeah I totally get that. Prices are coming down slowly....My interface cost over €1000 a few years ago, can get almost the same thing for about €300 now!
The reason right now why I have it split over 2 ports is so I can software sync it and fix the latency problem.
Anyway.. back on topic.

I searched for evidence of Kabylake processor support in 10.12.0 and 10.12.1, but found nothing so far. No frame buffer driver. No (XCPM) processor power management. No PCI device-id's. Ergo. The A170[6/7/8] will need to come with a special build of macOS Sierra.

Thank you for looking.

 To everyone else. For those who are unaware pike is the one who found skylake gfx kext back in March. We know high power Kaby won't be out until 2017, that's not the point.

As a apple/Mac user since 1979 for most of my work, this is long overdue. I generally upgrade every two years with both my laptops and desktops, feeling that each has a place. Now that I have kids using computers regularly, I'm likely to buy at least 5 new machines this round, but for the first time ever I think there will not be much wow. I'm not saying that there aren't going to be improvements but the value added seems to be diminishing over the past 10 years.

Looking at the financials, I'm not surprised to see only 12% of Apple revenue last reported quarter as there have been no good new machines for four years. Here's hoping that they are going to have enough processing power and reasonable memory for me to not give up! Fingers crossed for a much updated Mac Pro and MacBook Pro!

This new MacBook Pro looks to have absorbed a lot of traits of the consumer-level MacBook. Worrisome for a Mac that shouldn't be considered consumer-level.

Correct. Seems, even the keyboard layout features scantily separated keys mimicking that of 12" MacBook. Not something one would expect from a 'Pro' model, and a larger chassis.

A toolbar that adapts to whatever app you're currently on (possibly allowing custom shortcuts) and provides an extra layer of security through the use of fingerprint recognition is a waste of time?

True for a lot of other Apple hardware too, lately.

I'm calling it, Apple will be 'surprised' at the demand for the new Mac(book)s, once they're out, just as they were with the iPhone 5SE. I'm pretty sure we'll see a similar statement.

In their mind, low sales numbers represent an decreasing demand in computers, in general. Sometimes I think they just can't fathom that people are not buying because they don't want macs, but because they're holding out for a particular update. This was obvious in how they tried to push the iPad Pro as a computer equivalent.

I sometimes really do wonder if they really don't have an of their own market analysts...

macOS Sierra 10.12.1, released yesterday, includes hidden Apple Pay images that depict the brand new MacBook Pro with an OLED touch panel that's set to be announced by Apple on Thursday, October 27.

In addition to confirming that such a product is in the works, the images give us our first full look at the redesigned MacBook Pro ahead of its launch. An OLED touch panel is located on top of the keyboard, where the function keys would normally be placed, and it very clearly supports Touch ID, as it is seen used with Apple Pay.

As has been rumored, the touch panel, which may be called the "Magic Toolbar," appears to be contextual, changing based on what's on the screen. In the images, Apple Pay dialog is depicted, asking a customer to confirm a purchase with a finger on the panel. It appears Touch ID is built into a nearly-invisible power button located next to the display.

Aside from the OLED touch panel, the new MacBook Pro looks similar in design to the existing models. It looks like the 13-inch MacBook Pro is used in the images, suggesting the machine will gain speakers located at the side of the keyboard.

Thickness can't be determined from the orientation of the MacBook Pro in the images, but rumors suggest the new machine is thinner and lighter weight than existing models. A redesigned hinge can be seen in the images, suggesting it is indeed quite a bit thinner. Also visible are much flatter keys, similar in design to the keys of the Retina MacBook, which use a new butterfly mechanism.

Ports are not visible, but based on past part leaks, we're expecting four USB-C ports and a headphone jack, with the HDMI port, MagSafe port, and SD card slot being eliminated.

Apple will announce the new MacBook Pro on Thursday, October 27 at 10:00 a.m. A new MacBook Air model is also expected, and new iMacs are a possibility. MacRumors will provide live coverage of the event both on MacRumors.com and on the MacRumorsLive Twitter account.

(Thanks, Richard!)

looks gimicky. not shelling out dough for a "cooler" way to use apple pay (which I don't use). media keys are all I need up there anyway (and definitely an esc key).
