even using command and + to zoom in there looks to be a pretty perfect square around the camera :p

I'm sure by the time we know for certain if it is fake - the real products will be on sale and it wont matter

:apple:

I think this is defo real. What else would you expect the next touch to be? You are all so skeptical, Remember the Unibody pictures last year, The Mac mini earlier this year. They were both real.

and? Not every mock up/leaked photo is real my friend.

and please, we only saw the cases and now this, but....

engadget is calling it fake, saying,
"Update: As commenter Joseph pointed out, these look pretty fake when you zoom in Photoshop -- there's a pretty distinct square of pixels around the lens. Nice publicity stunt, guys -- we'll totally start listening to your show now."

I noticed that to when I zoomed in the picture

Have EVER had an ipod? If so, you wouldnt be so surprised.

yes i have, plenty!

There is not a single scratch on any of my six iPods. Maybe you should take care of your possessions.

As to the photos? NOT SHOPPED. There is still the potential for them to be custom fakes, but being real is looking more and more likely.

Thank you! I take care of mine...this guy obviously doesnt!

It would seem odd for Apple to introduce a new iMac, Tablet, or talk about Snow Leopard at an iPod event. If they are going to do just an event to introduce new products and no specific theme involved (iPods, Notebooks) then I can see that. What I am trying to say is that iPod themed events are getting a little slow, I doubt the nano is going to see anything groundbreaking same for the classic. Do you really need an event to show OS 3.1? Throwing the new iPod's up on the front page of Apple.com and having some tutorials and new commercials would probably get the job done. A few years ago when a new iPod was introduced they would talk about in on CNN, thats how big of an event it was. Now it gets a small blurb on the scrolling news on the bottom.

how is it odd?

This feels like it is the real thing. If it's a fake I have to say that it is an amazing one.

Ammazing? please, it uses the same dated design (chrome backing) that apple had back in 2001. but its fake so...

That dot next to the camera is probally a mic. If they add video recording, they would want to add a mic. If they dent, it would look very stupid.

How would it "look" stupid if they didn't include a feature:rolleyes:?

Few things I noticed about the main page article:

.
-to show it’s real. If you look at the board, it states Apple 2009 very clear. The 2nd gen AKA iPod touch out now, has 2008 on it. They haven’t revised the 2008 touch. I will compare them in pic in a sec.

The wording here seems a bit off.

-BTW, these phones NEVER leave Apple and this one left but it was a durability test phone, so that’s why the screen is all gridded off and cracked.

phone? I thought this was the ipod touch.

-I acquired this from a guy that I buy parts phones and iPods from. I believe he’s a recycler in ***********, so what most likely happened is that Apple threw this away and he some how got it and sold it for parts.

There you go again with "phone"

and if that is true, that apple threw this out, then it would have been a early prototype that they decided not to go with.

I wish they would use the brushed metal back of the 1st gen iPhone on more things. The plastic on the 3G and 3GS cracks a little too easily, and the glossy surface of the touch scratches way too easily. The only thing that's scratched on the back of my 1st gen iPhone is the glossy  logo.

Looks like a fake copy of an iPod touch with camera. Its scratchy so it isn't new and the back is blank, no information.
