I'm not saying it's necessarily real, but some random person (or blog) claiming that it's fake doesn't make it so.

people call every leaked image fake, and so-called "Photoshop experts" debunk every image... even ones that are later proven to be real.

there's a distinct square of pixels around the lens.

There doesn't appear to be a "square of pixels" around the large version of the image. So, does this mean it's real then using the same logic?

Well obviously the larger image could have been cleaned up after it's been dsicovered that the previous was a fake.

I mean what are the odds that radio show would land a iPod Touch 3gen? It's a publicity stunt.

Try zooming in (like everyone else did)

You can clearly see it in the larger image as well. Look at the top left of the camera lens... Difference in sharpness vs blur in a right angle square. The iPod will probably look like this but the images posted are fake.

If you notice, it has a red motherboard, like Apple prototypes do. It's certainly plausible, since we pretty much know what's coming is an evolutionary update, probably just a 3GS without GPS and 3G. We only have 3 weeks to wait in any case.

for me at least a camera isn't that important unless its above 3.2 MP as my BB has a camera and i ALWAYS have the 'berry with me lol

as another example.

found this image

http://androidcommunity.com/wp-cont...s-iphone-3g-iphone-back-androidcommunity.jpeg

saved it as a medium quality JPG. same sort of square/box shaped aliasing around the camera.

So, did Android Community not actually take a photo of the iPhone and instead photoshopped it? Of course not, it's just JPG artifacting.

Again, I'm not claiming the original images are real. But the self-proclaimed photoshop experts have been proven wrong multiple times with legitimate pre-release images.

I find it very believable, complete with the mic hole next to the camera.

(A nano with a camera would be more "out there"--I hesitate to believe that one. Cool idea though.)

I see a box around that camera.

and i'm not saying i'm an expert at photoshop images, i'm just saying that I see boxes around the camera.

but you are incorrectly concluding that "boxes around the camera" means it's fake. The androidcommunity.com photo I linked above also has "boxes" around the camera... and that's certainly NOT a fake.

This is how JPEG works. Take any picture with some smooth surfaces and some mor high contrast parts (example: a picture of your face). Save it whil e cranking up the JPEG compression. You'll get pixelly square shapes around the eyes for sure.

JPEG works by breaking up a picture into small repetitive blocks and you end up having the same square of pixels show up at multiple positions and orientations (rotated, mirrored). This is how it saves space. So any high contrast area will look weird in that way.

By "Boxes" i mean the shadow around the camera.

From the reflection off the back of the iPod in the first photo in the post (the out-of-focus one), you can see that the shooter was using a Leica.

Is it just me, or is it somewhat pathetic that someone who's shooting with an $700-$4000 camera (depending on the model) can't shoot a sharp image?

Edit: It may be a Leica point-and-shoot, but those are still at least $350.

Wow scratch city! real or not who treats a test product or prototype like this..

I think if anything it shows age, how long has this person had this?

I'm gonna say no to this one being the real deal.
