Dang, just ordered my MacBook Air…it arrives this Friday according to latest status. I really like the current design tho and coming from a base non-TouchBar 2017 MacBook Pro, my new Air has a design that feels familiar but also new with the wedge shape and lighter weight, and the performance of the M1 should be a big jump.

I really don't like the feet or the fact that they might move away from the iconic wedge.

I get that the strips increase traction on the surface it is set upon, but my concern is that it'll increase traction everywhere, like when pulling it out of a bag.

That said, if they're glued on they should be easy to replace when they wear out, UNLIKE the current feet.

Other than that, I'd go insane trying to pick a color.

You Grinches can have silver.

But let's wait and see what we actually get. The iMac was a shock because of all the rumored expectations.

Also, these would look really good with a matching iPad Air as a SideCar.

I prefer the bolder colors from the back of the new iMacs. Or better yet the color line-up of the 4th gen iPod Nano.

This pastel garbage feels like they raided an Easter sale.

That said, I also miss the translucent stuff. Would have been kind of cool if they threw in a white translucent keyboard like the old days. I never got to own one of those machines.

Hmm, full-size function keys. The Magic Keyboard has them, but I don't believe Apple has ever done this on a laptop: In looking through the pics of the various generations of MB's and MBP's on Wikipedia, I couldn't find any. Even the two generations of 17" MBP's, whose size makes them the best candidates for full-size function keys, don't have them.

I've always thought the Touch Bar should be replaced with discrete function keys with programmable OLED tops, but this would require they be full-sized. In the spirit of Jon Prossor, I predict these full-size function keys are foreshadowing that :). Which I guess would be a 2nd-order prediction—a prediction based on a prediction.

People have been asking for physical function keys for years now. Maybe this is Apple saying "FINE! Here's your damn physical function keys!" And making them full size so we can't miss them.

Which is kind of how I feel about the $6000 Mac Pro price. Everyone asking for a new Mac Pro that is upgradable and Apple finally giving in, but at an F.U. kind of price.

With the white keys and colorful cases, they look just like those ultra-cheap plastic HP "stream" laptops.

I disagree. Magic Keyboard looks great.

Also dirt on a white keyboard is easy to clean. Oil marks on black keys are permanent.

If this is Apple's plan to increase sales in the consumer segment, I think it's a great plan. These will sell. You know, like iPhones do.

And with ARM chips it is hard to argue that a "professional" couldn't use them.

I wonder if we see price increases for new phones and macs because of all the commodity prices going up.

I LOVED the translucent plastic on the bold (non-pastel) iMacs.

This is replacing the current 12” macbook. Bring it on apple and take my money!

I would accept nearly any color, if they also made a 15/16" version. Two sizes for professionals (MBP) and two for consumers (MBA). During a season of major changes, just slip that bigger MBA into the lineup, Apple!

I don't know about others, but the white keyboard looks a little cheap to me. But then again I wouldn't want a white bezel or a green laptop either. I'm sure it appeals to some audience that is very different from the primary audience here.
For people who don't like green laptops, they have made pink laptops. Sorry about the white bezel though. I sure it will get dirty soon enough and won't be white anymore. 👍🏼

I have no problem with these colour options and think choice and variety is great - just as long as they do some for adults too.

The performance distinction between Air and Pro largely evaporated with the introduction of the M1. To reestablish that distinction the forthcoming redesigned Pro could have the M2 rumoured to be in the forthcoming big iMac as well.
