I like the first iPod touch, very realistic..... The design love it! But no front facing camera? What about face time?

I like the design but the front facing camera is not there:eek:

Overall, I think this would is 50% realistic

Please take another look at the pictures. You will see that there is a front facing camera on all version. Click on the pictures to see them in full size.

Nice work Metal Dice! I personally think the first picture is nicer than the iPad version. I think Apple is going to make the iPod touch look like the iPhone 4 because the old iPod Touch looked like the old iPhones except thinner.

Wow! Great job at Photoshop! I actually hope it looks more like the first one although with two pieces of glass there wouldn't be much room to fit in any new features in a space that small, but still, the photo looks great. If Apple does a rounded back but with aluminum, that would be great. Either way they go, I"m still buying when September rolls around! :apple:

Well yeah, that could be the case, but the iPad has never been in the situation. So we could say that it would look like the iPhone 4 because the iPod Touch is sorta like a phoneless iPhone, but it could also look like the iPad because the iPad is like a giant iPod Touch. We'll find out in September though.

As for want, I like the look both of the mock ups. I like the iPad version more though for some reason...

I think part of what makes the iPod touch brilliant it its spartan design. If anything, I think we may see black, white, and bare anodized aluminum casings.
All i really want is one more option, two would be nice.

Nice work! :)
It did look like the old iPhones expect no plastic back.

I do hope for a redesign. We had the same look since 2008. Time for a update.
Redesign is needed. I think it will look more like the iPad because the glass will be too large to fit in the touch with all the other components.

Thank you, appreciate it! :)

Any suggestions for a new type of design?

The second version you made would probably be closer to the theme that Apple will be sticking with. I think they'll try to differentiate between the iPhone and the iPod a little more.

If the camera almost was put into the final design on the 3rd Gen but got pulled, doesn't it make it even more probable that there will be a camera this time?

It would yes. However, we don't know that it was supposed to be there in second gen. "Sources" which are never named that aren't attached directly to Apple should not be taken as reliable. I imagine that facetime would be a hit with teens so it would make it in, but last year there was no good proof (like the Gizmodo incident).

iPhone style, but with a metal back, either connected to the metal band, or a seperate piece.

Squared off iPad design:

Question: On the front of the picture, is that hole the light sensor or a hypothetical camera? Also, if it is a camera, where would the light sensor go?

And yes, I know this is all hypothetical guessing. I'm just curious if this style would be the aesthetically pleasing style Apple loves to give to us.

I believe that's the Camera. The Light sensor could just go right beside it, granted if there is room. As long as it can sense light from the front of the iPod, it doesn't matter where it is.

Yeah, I don't think the sensor will be that big, it looks to be the same size as the front FaceTime camera on the iPhone 4.

On the iPhone, there is a speaker in the same position as the camera in this mockup. Where does the light sensor in the iPhone go?

Well, the iphone is thicker and not sloped at the edges. I am unsure what the dimensions of the light sensor they use. The ipod is thickest in the middle and I didn't know if it could fit in the edge.

From a business stance, I can easily see Apple shying away from making the iPod Touch 4th Gen like the iPhone 4. A part of me thinks that the iPhone 4 gave Apple product differentiation from the Touch that Apple was "looking for" with this new iPhone 4, resulting in a "success" for Apple...

I see the same iPod Touch Design as the 3rd Gen, but better specs & maybe a camera/videocamera. Remember, all Apple needs to do - is make you replace your old one for something that is better, and/or have a wanted feature... A camera will do that for most. And, this year, more than last, a camera is feasible because of the new iPhone having a total new Design.

I predict, no new outer design, bump in specs, and maybe or maybe not a camera/videocamera.

I lean towards a non-HD camera/videocamera, because there is more product differentation due to the iPhone 4 having a total new Design & HD Vid. I'm betting they will have this camera, to increase sales yet again...

I somewhat agree with your design standpoint, although I hope it gets the iPhone 4 design.

I dont think the camera will be HD but it will have a 5mp back camera and possibly a 3.2mp camera.

I DEFINITELY hope there isn't that disgusting silver back, I hope it has the black and white glass like the iPhone 4

Hopefully there are only 2 or 3 color options because orange, yellow, blue, red, etc. makes the touch look less proffesional, and I love the professional design of most apple products

Color would be nice, but they will not do this due to supply. Maybe a white... Basically, this is a high-end iPod model - Apple stores will not overstock colored iPod Touches. Apple products come in new and go out... over n' over. They hardly ever overstock in their stores - it's amazing!!!

I wish it had a front & back facing camera, but I don't think we'll see that due to price increase. I think it may look closer to a iPhone 3G but thinner. Could be wrong. Other thing to remember is - the camera needs to fit within the constraints of the thickness of the outer-shell.

Always wish for more, but Apple is one of the brightest companies in the world. I think a camera is all Apple needs to do for the 4th Gen. Bump up the specs as well, and sales will increase tremendously...
