Does anyone know what happens if you don't make your scheduled pick up?

How long does / will apple hold an in store pick up? I have a confirmation & I did apple pay, but it appears I haven't been charged yet.

I might not be able to make my time & wanted to know how long they would hold the phone.

Thanks

Haha, maybe. Maybe not. I've already accepted that I won't receive the confirmation email. But I already have an Order Number so that's my confirmation email lol

Apple probably uses some sort of queue based system for their messages where it's not necessarily processed in order. As long as you got the order number you're good.

Someone asked what happens if you don’t pick your device up in the alloted window: if I’m not mistaken you have something like 2 hours give or take before your item becomes available for sale to others. However, in this case I’m assuming we’ll have been charged for the device before we pick it up so I’m not sure how that factors in.

You may have to pay in full before Pickup, but the initial charge which happened almost immediately after completing the order is just a hold. That will fall off and probably get charged for real on Thursday at some point.

There is question about missing appointment and how long hold in store since already paid in full. Hours, days or week. Normally store pick ups have week or so last time the local store employee talked. Wasn't talking about iPhone release day phones though

Is it because the iPhone X I pre-ordered is already at the Apple Store of my choosing? Just locked away and hidden?
Hasn’t been shipped to the store until closer to the date?

I think it’s paid for (card is charged) when it pick it up

Fully unlocked (Singapore - phones sold here are not locked to carrier)
Ordered through Apple Store app
Paid upfront
Full amount has been charged to card
Status of order is "order in progress"

Given that I have now paid in full for the phone, I would be rather upset if I happened to get to the store after the allocated timeslot to find that they've made the phone available to others! I would presume that it should work like any other pickup at store order where they will hold the item for a certain number of days before cancelling the order and refunding the purchase.

Might vary country to country. Mine has been charged to my card already.

I paid with Apple Pay, no charges yet.

I chose a pickup window of 12:00pm to 12:30pm. I was concerned about not being able to pick it up, and in the rush to get the order in, I didn't see the option to add an alternate pickup person. I was able to do the chat with the Apple Store folks, and was able to get my alternate added, which is now shown in the order status! Adding her did not affect my pickup time.

Additionally, before I asked to add the alternate, I asked what happens if you miss your window. The chat is below, which also includes when we should expect to get charged. It sounds like as soon as our order status flips to "Ready for Pickup" and our cards are charged, then we should be good. I am, however, still skeptical given this is a launch day iPhone, which is why I added the alternate pickup person.

Also to note, he mentioned that the authorized pickup person needs to be authorized on the T-Mobile account. She is not on my account, nor did I enter any account info since I purchased it in full. He didn't have a response to this other than "that's the policy". I'll try to add her to my T-Mo account just in case, I guess.

Hello, I pre-ordered an iPhone X for in store pickup on launch day. I’m wondering if I can pick it up after the chosen time? Like later in the day.

Apple:
I know you are very excited to pick up your new device, and we at Apple completely understand that life happens and sometimes you cant make that appointment. Thankfully, we will keep that order for you for up to 21 days so there is no need to worry about your product. If for some reason you need to get there earlier or later than your reservation time, that is no problem whatsoever. we will have it ready for you! Of course the lines could always be a little longer but we will get you taken care of as fast as possible!

Apple:
Even for the iPhone X pre-order, huh?

Apple:
Yes.

brkane:
I’ve been hearing rumblings about it only being held for a few hours past that check in time.

Apple:
Sorry that is not correct if you have pre ordered and paid it is held. If you just pre ordered for pick up and not paid then yes it will be given to the next person in line it is first come first serve. However, we can not give away a phone already purchased.

brkane:
Okay, so I used Apple Pay to purchase it, and have not been charged yet.
My order still shows processing. Will the charge hit before Friday?

Apple:
You will only be charged the day it is available and you receive the email to pick it up thats for everyone that doing pick up.
When the order gets in the status to be prepared for pick up you will see the authorization on your account.

Actually, I figured out why I never got my confirmation email.

Under Billing Info, I misspelled my email address as “con” instead of “.com”

Lol, I just changed it back and hopefully I’ll receive the “Ready for Pickup” email on Thursday!

I'd like to shed some light on this, as a former Apple Store Specialist (left this past September). For Verizon, Sprint, and AT&T, yes, you would need to have the pickup person authorized on the account as well. For T-Mobile, however, it is not required if you're paying in full. T-Mobile activations require a special activation iPad in addition to the employees' normal devices they carry, and a phone paid in full will not need activation.

They technically can't give away your paid item to someone else. They exclusively hold it for you for 2 weeks and if not picked up in 2 weeks, they send that back to their warehouse and refund you the money. At least this is what Apple store staff told me when I asked them about this for the 8.

For those who pre-ordered and opted for the in - store pick up, the Order status will not change till after 11/3/17 midnight. But when you wake up on 11/3/17 you will get an e-mail stating that your order is ready for pick up. I've experience this for pre-order pick up for the 8 Plus. I'm sure its' the same.

For people who have done this before, how likely are we to get in and out in the scheduled time window? I'm 8-8:30. Should I get there at 7:30 just in case?
