Did you reserve or just show up? 9 hours foresee action pick up is awfully long.

This was back for the 3gs. Since then I've always done order online. I think the 3gs was in-store only at first.

There will be more than 1 serving reservation. But, they will still be outnumbered by the number of the buyer. I doubt one Apple Store will have 100 staff just for reservation.

Do you think Apple took 100 reservations per time slot? More likely two or three people max per time slot. If the only accept people per their time slot, it shouldn't be too much of an issue. If they make it a free for all, then we're screwed.

No, I meant there will be multiple people for the same reservations slots with multiple employees taking care of them and if more than 1 of those got delayed extensively, then the other will have to wait longer.

My reservation is at 12:00 PM and I hope by that time, the store is still not serving people with reservation slot at 11:00 AM or <gasp!>...God Forbid, earlier than that.

I hope there aren't any major delays either, but at the same time, the supervisors can shuffle employees around as necessary over the course of the day. If the reservation line stops moving and gets backed up, they can reassign employees to take care of it.

Assuming they are open from 8am - 9pm, that is 13 hours. They do appointments every 15 minutes? and 3 people per times slot, so 12 per hour or 156 total reservations of the day?

I think it is much higher like closer to 20 per time slot. The in store pickups lasted over a week.

they probably did closer to 3 people per genius every 15 minutes.

At my Apple Store during the 5S launch there were 8 to 10 reservations per time slot. I suppose that varies depending up on staffing levels and the number of people in the walk-in line.

I just called my local store to see how much of a time window is there for reservations....he wasn't certain and then recommended me to call 1800MYAPPLE....their representative confirmed that all reservations are held for a 2 hour time window...

Are held for a 2 hour window? or are helped? If the former, I guess that means if you do not check in within that time frame you lose it?

I did this last year for the 6 but I don't remember having to pick a time slot. I have an 8-830 reservation and I'd imagine as far as holding your phone, each store is going to have their own rule. I plan to get there just a few mins before 8. I'm sure they'll go down the reserved line and take names and make sure people aren't showing up early. It was a pretty organized process last year and I was gone within 30 mins.

If they hold them all day I should be set. I pass the mall on my way to work, so will pop in at 8am with a reservation time of 8:30am. If the line is too long then I;'ll just return around 8pm on my way home from work. I can't see there being any significant lines left at 8pm, but who knows. I learned a long time ago when I moronically waited on line, never again will I do that for a stupid phone.

Apple really should have organized this with their whiteboard, similar to how they call people for appointments. I feel a bit bummed that I woke up at 3am to get the first reservation, but it doesn't mean anything.

For those that did reservations....

I'll be trying to make one on 9/26 (and each day until I get a phone).....

I need to get 2 phones (one for me and one for hubby). Do I need to make 2 separate reservations or just one?

I believe it allows you to do 2 phones for one reservation.

I'd show up a little early. Not saying you should go an hour early, but I would do at least 20 minutes. Launch days are chaotic and not showing up early could mean no phone.

Really? You think showing up on time means they'd have already sold your phone? I could understand showing up hours late and your phone is gone, but right on time?

People are going nuts these last days. I went to the Apple Store where I did my reservation and asked to talk to the manager. He told me phones will be held all day long and will be released for walk-ins the next day. He also told me there are not many people per time slot. He didn't give me a number. He said he couldn't disclose that information and every store was different depending on their location and popularity. And last but not least, he said this is the first year they do reservations by time and they will only serve people during their time slot AND after in case they're late but those people are subject to wait for a long time. Hope this helps answer some questions about reservations.

*shrug* how much do you really want to risk it ?

I would definitely be speaking to a manager and emailing Tim Cook if I showed up and checked in on time to my reservation only to be told my phone had already been sold.

That being said I was planning to arrive 15 minutes early anyway, but I'd do that likely even if there weren't big crowds expected. I'm just that way.

That process sounds like a complete cluster F*** for the morning. Everyone will just turn up in the morning to create a giant bottleneck!

Sounds like Apple.

Apple let open preorders and their website bottleneck, and the products are set back to 3-4 weeks or longer. Apple Watch. Good memories.

I'm doing the upgrade program which means Apple expects me to go through this process every year for upgrades. Apple has one shot at getting me to join this program. If they inconvenience me in any way, I will walk. I only have to press a few buttons and get the iPhone Forever from Sprint and have the phone delivered to me every year so, if Apple really wants me to go through this procedure yearly through them, they better make it easy and painless.

I reserved 2 phones, I have 2 reservations. Might be different after 9/25.

I reserved a Verizon SG + 16 gig but I'd much rather have a 64 gig, what are the chances they will let me switch when I arrive for my slated reservation time?
