Apple stores usually get their shipments during the middle of the day right? Since they allocated a few units for display, they should have more in stock for sell tomorrow.

At the best buy I went to they reserved one for me. Got the confirmation email with an order number and everything (including the correct SKU). I didn't even have to put down any money, even though confirmation email makes it sound like I should have had to buy a gift card in order to reserve one.
I just called the Best Buy by my hometown in Holmdel, NJ and they said they had them! Too bad I'm in college and am not anywhere near there. I also called the Apple Stores in Woodcliff Lake, NJ and Garden State Plaza in Paramus, NJ and they don't have them. Woodcliff Lake says they'll get them on Friday. Best Buy in Paramus doesn't have em either.
I was told the same when I called them, however, when I called them before 10 the lady asked me which one I was looking for as there were 2 configurations. However, before I could answer she said they were sold out already (as if they sold out just right then and there). She said they had them in stock and already sold out of them and don't know when they will get more... Not sure who to believe.
Yes. Think you have to be over a certain threshold for post count in order to see it.
Did they have any in stock? I've tried Upper West Side, and the Fifth Avenue store, with no luck.
No, they did not have any. I was chatting with 2 employees and they said that they only received a couple units in addition to the ones on display. They are expecting a "large" shipment "soon". They didn't have any details about what large is or what soon was. They only said large would be enough for people who want it to get it.

Called 3 stores - none have them. They also have no idea when they'll get stock.
Some of the employees are so clueless. 3 or 4 of the kept telling me that the best bet was to order in online for pickup. Then when I told them that you can't do that, they just said it is because it is out of stock.
What has been everyone's experience in NYC? Just moved to the area so I'm not really familiar with the stores. Is 5th Ave my best bet to find one? What about SoHo or the others?
I'm not sure I'm willing to pay for the fully loaded retina system, however. I also just want the base with 16gb RAM, since it's not upgradeable, but don't know that I can wait 4 weeks (not that I'm just impatient, my current system is failing). Is there a chance the base with 16gb ram configuration will show up in stores in the next week or so? I'm guessing no, right?

Made the 1 o'clock calling rounds at the 5 Minnesota stores, nada anywhere. Almost everyone is saying "sometime this week," so at the very least I hope I can get one by Friday, but this is quite frustrating.

Lol yup I just got done calling all 5. This is really ****ing pissing me off. ALL 5 stores didn't get ONE in their shipments today? What the hell is Apple doing? "Shipping today" my ass.
Have you already checked all the Best Buys?
I checked the 3 nearest to me, Richfield, Minnetonka, and Eden Prairie. None of them had them but most said "sometime this week".
I'm probably going to hit the Ridgedale Apple Store in about an hour since it's pretty close and I want to check out the display in person. Maybe I'll get lucky and they'll get an afternoon shipment while I'm there, although they already told me over the phone that they got all their shipments for today (then again, half the people I talk to say they get multiple shipments every day and have no idea when they come in, so you never know).
I called the Best Buy near me and they didn't know what Retina was, also said you don't get an Education Discount.
I called the MacMall support line and they said that the models aren't even in stock. I don't think that the 5-7 day estimate is accurate in the least.how come macmall said theyll be able to ship in 5-7 days?
