Another possible perk to getting the RMBP from Best Buy would be United miles for anyone who is a frequent traveler. If you link through to bestbuy.com from Mileage Plus Shopping, you get 3 miles per dollar spent. Assuming you also charge the purchase to a united credit card, you get another 1 mile per dollar.

So essentially you'll get about 8,000 to 12,000 miles from buying the RMBP, around what you would get from two round-trip transcontinental flights. If you buy the $2799 RMBP, you'd be getting nearly 1/2 the miles required for a saver ticket, which could be worth many hundreds of dollars if you play your cards right.

All of this of course will require waiting until bestbuy opens up ordering on their site, and hoping that the 3 miles per dollar deal stays in effect until then.

Unfortunately i just have the HSBC BB card. But, damn thats a great deal.

How likely?

No one knows this question. Was told yesterday by a friend working at my local Apple, that they got 20 units and would start selling at 10am. Got there at 10:01 and all they had were 5 display units. Alot of misinformed Apple specialist that are talking out their ass...my friend included

Even with that card you can get the 3 miles per dollar. You just have to get to bestbuy.com through the united site using your mileage plus number. They don't care who's credit card you use, since they're getting the kickback from Best Buy for linking you through to purchase.

Yeah, but I don't believe they offer the $200 education discount or $150 BB gift card. Seems like most buyers need to do that in-store where the cashier adjusts the price to match Apple's education discount.

Hope you have luck getting one. I know I can't wait.

Upgrades at store?

So they never have upgraded ones at Store? I'm waiting till they're available, but I want a base model RMBP with 16 GB upgrade....will this be available with couple weeks+ or have to order online just for the memory upgrade?

disregard my last post.

Apple is selling 3 variations in store, there was a picture somewhere in this thread.

Like others have said in this thread before, I suggest calling Apple stores and telling them this is a business purchase. The store(s) will put you on a priority list to notify you right when they come in stock. I've done this with a few stores so I don't have to keep calling all the time.

Incorrect. You can only get 16GB online or get the maxed out model in store.

Darn I see....so unless I want the base 8gb I need to order online...darn!

Does anyone know if it charges you once ordered? Or does it charge you once it ships? Thx

These are the only 3 configuration that will be in store. You would have to order that one online!

I believe once it ships.

I was in a store in Altamonte Springs today and the nice employee took my number and told me she would call me if they got some in while I hung around the mall. She called me about 30 minutes later and told me that she did not expect to see any new ones today. Finally, a good Apple experience again. Though, I should have had her call me when they would be back in stock again. It is not the closest Apple store to me. That one is probably 1 hr and 30 mins away.

Agreed

Called my round of stores again, nothing. Looks like waiting tomorrow morning it is...

This confuses me though, do they only get the one shipment during the day? Does checking in the morning even make a difference? But then people say they got one at opening... I don't know. I'll be calling too though. Good luck to both of us? Haha this is ****ed up.

I'd like to know this too. If they get shipments in the day I heard they put it on the shelf, but I have also heard that they have them in the morning.

I'll probably call a store tonight just to clarify this. Maybe they save some for opening? Or it just depends on the store; some put them on the self immediately but some restock in the morning?

Estero Florida (Coconut Point) had at least one mid-day. But since they won't have a 2.3Ghz with 16GB I chose to order through an online retailer, even if the wait nearly wrecks me mentally.

Don't know exactly how they stock. I imagine if units come in during the day and someone wants one, they will sell them. Thus it's pretty much impossible to get one so far. It's a right place, right time, talk to the right employee kind of thing. I'm going in the morning because I think it's the best chance to catch a unit after a new shipment, seeing as you have from when the store closes to when it opens in the morning for the next shipment to come in, and nobody can buy one in the meantime. I'm certainly not going to go to a store and wait around all day.

I'll pray for you ;)

I will probably call the stores near me at 9, if they have them I'll go to them.
