Damn, I feel for you. I just find it incredible that they don't have enough stock to satisfy just a few customers. I'm just hoping that a day comes when all the stores get a massive shipment and we're all happy.Ok scratch that, best buy just called me back and said they actually don't have them in stock. This is like some sick psychological experiment apple is running... Lol

That's for certain. There are probably a dozen Best Buys within a 50-mile radius of my house. Did they tell you that they'd have some coming soon or is that just speculation?Lol if that day will be Monday... The day after I'll be back home, hours away from any Apple store. I've put more faith in Best Buy at this point. At least they know they have some coming soon, and there's a hell of a lot more Best Buys than Apples.

Thanks for the info. I have a high end model reserved. You're correct that it's the $2800 one. Even though Apple Stores have the maxed out version (2.7 GHz, 16 GB RAM, 768 GB SSD) shown on the iPad next to the display they don't seem to be getting them anytime soon. I called as a "self employed businessman" and the business associate said that they were only getting 2.3 GHz and 2.6 GHz options. No, they for sure have some coming. It sounded like most stores have orders of 5 base models and 3 of the "high end" models coming via FedEx. I didn't ask what "high end" they mean because I'm just getting the base, but it's probably the $2800 model and not the maxed out one.
Just talked to International Plaza again, they were pretty clear none today. Guy I talked to was part of "business team". He was vague, but he did hint that business customers would be getting 1st crack at models as they arrive.
Way I see it on Monday apple said "shipping today", however upon going to the website to order it showed ships in 5-7 days and most people who had ordered them at that time have received an update saying they will receive them on Monday or Tuesday depending on where you live, I haven't heard anyone mention that theirs is scheduled to arrive any earlier than that. So at this point I'm just hoping that is the timeline you can expect for store shipments as well.
I have a hard time believing that Apples sales plan with these is to ship 3 units to some store in the middle of nowhere. If anything I would think the flagship and stand alone stores in big cities would get the bulk of the supply which doesn't seem to be the case. This leads me to believe that the units the stores are selling have nothing to do with the main shipment, which should contain atleast 30-50 units even if there was a shortage. Where those units are coming from I'm not sure but for now I'm assuming no store has received a true shipment of RMBPs and have only been selling units that where just mixed with other items or perhaps they were over shipped display units etc.
I got mine at 11 AM the day after it was announced, June 12th. I went to Garden State Plaza in New Jersey. I asked the first guy I saw if I can purchase it and he said they aren't getting them for a few days. I told him that the person I spoke with yesterday said they would definitely have them tomorrow (the 12th). He said unfortunately we didn't get them in. So I asked to speak with a manager, told her the situation. I told her to check if they had any unopened shipments and sure enough they did. I bought the first Retina MBP because I was persistent. Even the manager was misinformed. But be persistent, tell them to check the backroom to double check, ask them to check the tracking on the shipments. I can bet every Apple store had them at that time but were just poorly misinformed because it was a sloppy launch.

Just did some quick math and assuming each store was set to recieve 50 RMBPs (which is far more than any store has received thus far) with 246 stores in the US that's still only a little over 12,000 units. Which Apple would easily already have on hand. I'm convinced that the shortage is a problem in shipping and not a supply shortage.I agree with this however, I remember reading somewhere that people will start receiving them today so we might not have to wait until Monday or Tuesday. I have called a few stores in AZ and they have been very open and honest about business accounts get first pick and to date they haven't even sold one to a business customer or regular customer, everything they have received has been display units only.
I think you're completely correct. There's got to be a major shipment coming. I can't believe that a multi-billion dollar corporation would be so inept as to not supply their retail stores with new merchandise. How many MacBook Pros are usually sold in the first few weeks after a release?Just did some quick math and assuming each store was set to recieve 50 RMBPs (which is far more than any store has received thus far) with 246 stores in the US that's still only a little over 12,000 units. GUYS!!! I got it! I called the Best Buy (in Garden State Plaza) and they told me they literally only got 1 in and couldn't hold it. Luckily it was the base model.
Man I never drove so fast in my life. Thankfully no cops. They matched the Apple student discount and are giving me a $150 Best Buy gift card. Checking out right now.
Sweet sweet victory. Checking out right now with a $2799 model at Best Buy in Cary NC. They have ONE left after me, and it's the 2199 model. They only received one of each. They said the system doesn't allow them to price match the apple edu discount, but they did give me a $150 gift card.
Oh and btw, screw dealing with apple. I was there as the FedEx truck delivered 4+ pallets of gear, and the best I could get out of anyone at the store was to come back in 4 hours and they might have unpacked it.
