Brandon: Checked, don't have any, not getting any today.*
Tampa: he was saying no that asked if it was personal or business then finished saying no.*
Millennia: No. Check this afternoon.*
Florida Mall: yes.*

Im at my beach house in Sarasota and Im pretty sure Brandon is the only apple store even remotely close and its still an hour away#. Looks like Im not getting one until I get back to Atlanta next week...

This is so comical.

While I expect there to be waits for iPhones and iPads, I never expected there to be one for a $2200 laptop.

What is even worse is the fact that stores have no clue. You ask anybody in the store when they expect to get them and you get the shoulder shrug and the "we have no idea" answer and they aren't even willing to take your name or create some sort of list! I remember when the original iPad released, I didin't think I wanted one and 2 days after it released I wanted it. Sold out. Walked into an Apple store, they took my infomation and called me 2 days later to tell me the ipad I wanted was in and that I needed to pick it up in 24 hours or it would go to the next person on the list. Same with my wife's iPhone 4. Took our info and 7 days later got a call to come get.

Shortages are fine, but Apple needs to educate/inform their stores better. I was told by an emplyee at International that I should go online to reserve my RMBP for pickup at the store. I had to tell him the option wasn't available....he was like "oh...sorry" Have a process in place so people arent calling or going to stores for days.

Dude, I'm Bradenton, am in the exact same quandary... If I call at nine and find out they have 2-3, that will basically mean "why the hell weren't you camped out here last night you sad moron".

If someone could just tell me within the next 7 days I will be able to walk into a store and buy one, I can take my chill pill. Otherwise all I will be concerned about is this company I love have released a product that matches pretty much my dream requirements for a notebook, but I won't be able to get it because I decided to wait to watch the keynote spoiler free, because I appreciate the product presentation and marketing skills of said company.. But even if I didn't, the only way I could get this product within a reasonable amount of time was immediately pay $3k within minutes of being allowed to and not having a chance to even read a hands on review.

Fair enough, you're rich and have time to spare.. You deserve priorities. But for those that are willing to buy this product in person, to do more than click the mouse a few times and actually drive out to a store.. Apple if you're listening, these are your real customers, your real fanbase, don't play around with them just because you can. I don't even bother considering other manufacturers and their products, but because of this recent nonsense I found out what a Samsung series 9 is.

I'm frankly getting tired of any game or product release that causes me to throw all my plans out the window, and make me line up.. We are consumers and this is a democracy, but it really feels like we're living in a communistic society lining up for a product. That 1984 apple ad is so ironic when you think about it, we have become the masses who can't think differently.

It's getting ridiculous... I think it has more to do with Jobs being gone than anything. This company seems to have lost the most important advantage it had over any other. They've quite literally 'sold their soul' but for $80 Billion, I'd say they made the right choice (for themselves.)

The problem is no supply... Apple must have expected this to be a problem when they are only shipping 1-2 units in shipments to stores.

I think they've botched the delivery on purpose to 'attempt' to create an air of high demand...

ha!

Just got told the samething even though they told me this morning they had some!!! DrOve all this way for nothing.

Neither Reston nor Tysons have any. I've tried Fair Oaks a good ten times now and they won't even answer. I tried calling as a home user first. They didn't give me much attention. Then, I called as a business user. They were very friendly that time around. I put my name and contact info down. Hopefully, I get some answers soon. The attitude at the stores seems to have changed from "try tomorrow" to "we have no idea".

Someone please explain to me why they have all of the new 13 and 15 inch without retina display in stock but don't have 15 with retina?!?!?! I just checked and every store within 200 miles has 13 and 15 without retina!!!!! My store has recieved 1 shipment of retinas and thats it. This is crazy.

I just called Best Buy in Durham NC (southpoint) and they had one of each model in stock. I have one on hold, but the base model is still available.

The Cabot Circus Apple Store in Bristol, UK had one MacBook Pro Retina on display this morning, but they did not have any in stock, and did not know when they would get some. I had a play with it for a few minutes and could not replicate the UI lag problem, when using the display scaling options.

This guy at a Best Buy just told me it's not released yet lol.. I didn't even try to explain.

Please keep us updated on this. I'd be very surprised (and happy) if they actually have it. I have one reserved through Best Buy and I'm hoping my store gets them soon.

Got a lot of that yesterday lol. Today the first lady I talked to at the apple store was confident they had loads to sell, and was under the impression that every store did. *facepalm*

I double and triple checked with them, and the the price matched up at 2799. Can't get it til tonight though since I need my wife for her student discount.

Ok scratch that, best buy just called me back and said they actually don't have them in stock. This is like some sick psychological experiment apple is running... Lol

Called 4 stores around 9 and typing this reply on a RMBP at one store... nothing at all five.

At least at this store I did talk to someone who appeared to be a manager of some type. He told me that they usually get their shipments in around 12, so I might actually check back later today.

But this is still extremely frustrating.

Yeah, very disapointing. One thing that is clear, Apple is not communicating anything at all to their retail stores. Its either no information or miss information.

My wife and I were just discussing that. I would like them to at least take a list. Call customers when one comes in. You would also think it would save them time and trouble at the stores. People repeatedly calling during the day so they have to have someone waste time fielding those calls. At the very list give a date to stores that they can expect them. One thing I have learned through my years of buying Apple products is order on line the day it releases if you can. Then try the store if you are in a hurry. Wish this had been a better release for those who want one of these computers. I mean does any one really know when they will be available? One week, two?

No. This morning they told me they had them. I drove out there this morning. Was there before open. When they opened two employees said they sold out yesterday

Oh dang, I called him earlier today and they said they might have some later since they expect their next shipment at 12:00pm.

I was told by an Apple representative it was due to the fact that the displays take a long time to build. Do not know if that's true though, the guy did seem quite aware of the product compared to everyone else in the store.
