This is the story of my life, I really hate to think I am going to have to wait untill July 3-8th to accept delivery from Apple, Going to try BB this morning also I am in New Orleans. At least Best Buy gives a believable educated response when questioned about stock.
Not sure I agree. Apple Stores locally have had 2 for sale, Best Buys have had 2-3 for sale yesterday with others on the way soon(over the next several days). While not a ton of units shipping, they have units for sale. 3 Best Buys locally had items in stock yesterday, local Apple stores had none. To me, it doesn't make sense to not have this item available even in resaonable numbers at Apple Stores each day-There is much more demand for ipad/iphones and I have never had trouble getting those because Apple had units for sale each day.
Truly amazing that we are all flocking to Best Buy for these and can't find any at Apple Stores. Well done, Apple. 
DO any Best Buy stores have stock of the new 13" MBP? Most I see just have the old ones.. trying to get rid of stock?
Just stopped by the Apple Store Georgetown (DC) for a MBP.R, The guy said 
"no, we don't have any in stock yet, here's a card with the number to call."
"I already have the number and have been calling it."
"Oh, well take a card, call the number at the bottom and they will tell you whether or not we have them in stock"
"Fine, I'll take a card. I'll keep calling, though have never had luck with that in the past with this store. Thanks."
"Thanks for visiting the Apple store!"
Anyway, I'll try again next week. One interesting thing is that all of the demos they have in store seem very dim, even on full brightness. This is a change from the retina searing 17" and iPads.

Best Buy Stock
In southeastern Michigan almost all Best Buys have all the new airs and pros and some have begun receiving the new retina pros as well. I picked up the base retina pro yesterday. Check your local Best buys they are a better bet then apple it seems.

Same experience at Apple International Plaza. Get there at 945, ask the guy if they have any in stock. His resposne "we should". Checks something on his iPad, tells me he needs to talk to somebody in the back. Comes back and says they have nothing in stock and wont have any this weekend either. Tells me to order online because I'll get it sooner. I was like, you wont have any machines for 4 weeks? He says "the wait is not 4 weeks"....show him online it is. He says "oh"
Hands me a card and tells me to keep trying....
Call 2 Best Buys....sold out now, but expect more stock today-offers to call me when they arrive.
The nonsensical process that Apple Retail is following cannot be defended.

I'm in Brandon, FL. I'd like to share info with you other guys to try and get one. I already called apple store Brandon and they said they have none, on the phone with best buy Brandon now, one of you pricks got the last one they had yesterday hope they have one for me today. Called Brandon and Tampa best buy and Tampa apple store. No RMBPs in at any place. I wish I would have purchased immediately after the announcement online.
On another note, I called best buy Brandon yesterday morning, they had none in stock. Then later on in the day, i see a post on here saying they had a couple. So can we try and help each other get one in the Brandon/Tampa/st Pete/Lakeland area?

Called my local BB. Computer showed that they had stock. Guy went to the back and was able to put his hands on them, but said they are on hold right now (hold comes from Apple according to the rep from BB) and cannot sell them.
Assuming they were in stock at Apple.com and the Apple Stores it would keep people from buying them all from 3rd party retailers. The fact that nobody has any and there are ones that can't be sold is pretty ridiculous.
All of the Best Buy stores in MN that I've called have said that they don't have any, they've never had any, and that they are pre-order only right now. I even brought up that I know of people that have already purchased them from Best Buy and they don't believe me.
Apple stores I've called just give me the same canned response: "We don't have any and we have no idea when we will get any. Order them online."
I'm betting that the employees are getting tired of people asking all day.

Maybe the market is starting to get saturated. So they are trying to keep the hype up till monday? When most stores hopefully will have the standard configs on hand? Just a guess either way I hope mine ships since I can't pick up a 512/16 anywhere.
I am heading to my local BB to see what I can get for the 13" MBP after I finish my coffee..

this launch and the iPad 2 launch by apple have been terrible.
the mac book pro launch about 4 years ago had shortages and that
cleared up in a couple of weeks.
i have stopped searching for these unicorns. i will just wait until i can go into the apple store and pick one up without issue whether it's 2 weeks or 2 months.
this is just a prelude to the iPhone launch in the fall.

Yes this is true, every apple store should have plenty of stock of the 13"
I have a BB gift card thats why I am pursuing BB. I went in yesterday and they only had the old ones on display, I didn't ask if they had the new ones though.
Best Buy also doesn't put like 5 billionty of the same model out on display. Put one out and sell the rest, jeez.
Well the iPhone launch in the fall will be a given for Apple BUT there will still be shortages just like the 4S had. The key to that is they give you a date and time for preorders and that's when you have to be ready and just be online and have it sent out. No other way.
As for the RMBPs I am looking for TWO of the 512GB models and have a local BB guy in search of them. I am in my MBA program and my fiancé is in her undergrad so they are willing to do the educational discount and the $150 gift card on both. So right now all my hope lays with this guy. It's 8:40 AM in AZ so the day hasn't begun here yet for the search anyway. Been at work for 2 hours already. Would be a killer deal to setup a new Mac this weekend. (Fingers crossed)
I'm just worried about the people who say Apple put a hold on these. I hope they don't get the memo here in AZ to early.
