I'm in Brandon, FL. I'd like to share info with you other guys to try and get one. I already called apple store Brandon and they said they have none, on the phone with best buy Brandon now, one of you pricks got the last one they had yesterday:) hope they have one for me today. Called Brandon and Tampa best buy and Tampa apple store. No RMBPs in at any place. I wish I would have purchased immediately after the announcement online.

On another note, I called best buy Brandon yesterday morning, they had none in stock. Then later on in the day, i see a post on here saying they had a couple. So can we try and help each other get one in the Brandon/Tampa/st Pete/Lakeland area?

Agreed, more than happy to help out Central Florida people. Lets all keep posting what we see/hear

Well the iPhone launch in the fall will be a given for Apple BUT there will still be shortages just like the 4S had. The key to that is they give you a date and time for preorders and that's when you have to be ready and just be online and have it sent out. No other way.

As for the RMBPs I am looking for TWO of the 512GB models and have a local BB guy in search of them. I am in my MBA program and my fiancé is in her undergrad so they are willing to do the educational discount and the $150 gift card on both. So right now all my hope lays with this guy. It's 8:40 AM in AZ so the day hasn't begun here yet for the search anyway. Been at work for 2 hours already/ Would be a killer deal to setup a new Mac this weekend. (Fingers crossed)

I'm just worried about the people who say Apple put a hold on these. I hope they don't get the memo here in AZ to early.

i wouldn't put any stock into bb putting things on hold.

they are being sold everywhere else. these people both at apple and bb have no idea what they are talking about. they just make that stuff up. you just have to have someone willing to go in the back and actually look to see if they have any.

there were a couple of times when i went to the apple store, they received the morning shipment but they had no retina's in the shipment. i watched them as they were going through the boxes.

good luck on your search!

There is something going on thats not being communicated. Apple Retail is clueless....ask about stock and they walk to the back and comeback and say they have none....no idea when they will get....not willing to take names for a waiting list(unless you are business)......There have been bad releases in the past; ipad 2, iPhone 4, but Apple stores were getting stock daily and working through their waiting lists.

I have faith this dude will call me like he said. The computer guys at BB work on commission so selling a couple $2800 laptops to one guy I'm sure would help his numbers. With that said, you better believe the search on my own continues, I've always struggled with relying on others to get things done but it's always done the right way (my way) if done myself. :)

In my experience, BB has been 10X more helpful than Apple Retail.

The difference here, and I have spoken to a couple of stores that have been completely candid, is business customers take priority. So I'm sure they are all getting stock of some sort but those are being held for business customers on the business waiting list. If you have or want the education discount then you are out of luck but if you don't then call in and put yourself on the business waiting list and I'm sure it will be in your hands sooner than even they think.

It's how the cookie crumbles I guess. This is a PRO level laptop. Sure, not upgradable but very PRO in the specs. I'm sure Apple wouldn't have guessed the cult would cling to this like it has but I actually don't think it's that many people to be honest. I just think it's a small handful, just a little bigger than they expected.

Oh I agree, it was strongly hinted when I talked to Apple International Plaza that business gets 1st dibs. Always works that way. I am actually not getting a student discount, just a discount through my job.

I can get a discount through my job as well but not nearly the kind an educational discount can give me not to mention the gift card to go with it so I am holding off.

By the way, you can still put yourself on the business list under your company name. I did that for the iPad 2 and worked just fine. Your company already has an account of some sort with Apple and Apple doesn't care if it's invoiced or some guy walking in from that company paying cash. Worth a shot for you.

UK retail in store- John Lewis

For those that are in the UK looking for a MacBook pro retina. John Lewis call centre are allowing customers to reserve stock. I have done so and have been assured that as soon as they arrive, one will be reserved for me.

Now the store manager in computing and electronics has told me that he has been chasing procurement for the last two days. He has chased because the product shows an in store stock date of the 13th of June. He believes they could be in stock within the next week, possibly by Wednesday.

This seems to align to my conversations with several apple stores over the phone. They believe the MacBook pro retina is in transit and should be in store by next week.

If I ordered one in store right after keynote is delivery time any different than delivery time for ordering from home. like many have said no one at the apple store has a clue what they're talking about or whats going on and I cant get an eta from them so I thought someone on here may know.

I called my local Apple store (Florida Mall Apple store) this morning to check their stock and when they would get some.

The representative said that they have no idea when they're going to get them in each shipment but then I asked when they get the shipments... he said every almost every day.

I also asked if there's any priority in the Apple Store and he denied. He just said it's first come first serve to whoever gets here first and recommended that I call every day in the afternoon.

Has anyone had any luck getting one of these in San Francisco? One of the stores went so far as to claim they haven't received any shipment AT ALL. I find that so hard to believe that Apple hasn't shipped any laptops to San Francisco at all but has shipped them to less populated areas. Maybe this is just proof that people on the phones really don't know what they're talking about.

I'd check MacMall local stores.

I couldnt agree more. Something has gone horribly wrong with Apple's original plan it just doesnt add up:

1. Make a huge announcement at your only scheduled keynote of the year that you know is going to end up making the national press/web sites.
2. put a huge and flashy window display in every store advertising the product
3. put display models at every store (at least here with a "regular" MBP to show why the retina works)
4. Run a national primetime TV campaign for a computer for the first time in years
.....
Then Ship less units to the US Apple stores in the first week than Best Buy does?
Does this make sense to anyone?

I do have one on order, should have done it quicker but I didnt, but when I saw "5-7 days" as soon as the online store came up I thought "ah I can get it faster in store than that".

Maybe they will show up today/tonight, I cant imagine they didnt want to sell a ton of them this weekend. Monday on the other hand doesnt make sense to me, an otherwise dead store day.

I kinda get the feeling that they weren't exactly ready with the new models. They rushed to get them finished for WWDC and had barely started production when they announced them, so now they are behind on supply because they made the announcement too early.

Do you think that much of this is just to create hype and a frenzy for the product. If you have seem Tim Cook,s interview at the d10 conference. He did state that while apple customers can be vociferous and caustic when apple does something wrong, they still come back and purchase products. Managing customer expectations and creating a buzz seems to be incongruent from time to time. I am a little annoyed about this apparent delay and availability but I will still by one when they do become available.

I do not have an Apple Store close to where I live, but there is an Apple Specialist who sells Apple products about 10 minutes from where I live. I went in on Wednesday to buy the 2012 13" base model MBP, but there were none in stock since it was released on Monday. So, I just bought it and they will give me a call when it comes in. So, I checked the nearest Apple Store (Minneapolis) and they all have them in stock. So does anyone have any idea when authorized Apple Specialists receive shipments?

Thanks.

I think that was a bad decision, they will probably be the last to get them. Apple is going to try to get it to their major retailers first before giving it to small Apple specialists that have very little sales volume compared to BestBuy, MacMall, etc.

Do you have a best buy close by, they are selling them.

Just went to Best Buy in Everett, MA called this morning and they had 2 of the base models. Wasn't able to get there till 12:30 due to work by the time I got there.... Wait for it... Sold out.

The hunt continues. Called both Boylston Street in Boston (Flagship store) and Cambridgeside and they're still waiting on "initial" shipments. Ahhhhhh

Worst Apple Product Launch Ever.
