For people in the chicagoland area that don't mind a trek to deerfield, the deer park apple store has a bunch in stock.

For all you San Francisco and Sacramento people, Fairfield's Best Buy has two more base models in stock if you want to make the trek.

They are honoring the $200 off plus include a $100 iTunes card to match Apple, FYI.

If you'd followed the link on the previous page you'd see Best Buy has some on the warehouse.

Has anyone tried any of the stores in the Philly area (ardmore, cherry hill) to see if they have any in stock?

I'd go to Best Buy but I'm not sure if they'll match the Apple educational store discount.

To get the $200 off in Best Buy what documentation do you need to take with you?

Hope this helps. Please see images. Take these to BestBuy. Though the coupon states $100. When I purchased my computer I asked if they would match the online Apple educational discount. They said they would.

Also if you are a Reward Zone Premier Silver member you will receive TRIPLE bonus points as a one time purchase. But you must buy a computer by JULY 1st 2012 to get the points.

Happy shopping. Good luck. :D

Apple store 5th Avenue NYC

supposively has a "few" of the base model 2.3 and 2.6 rMBPs. I almost walked out with one about an hour ago (didn't because I would have been late to work.)

According to the specialist on the floor, they get them in "frequently" but will not be getting the 16gb ram models in at all.

Comparing this to the Air is absolutely no contest: they are both great machines, but the minor weight difference, lack of glare & more screen space just confirmed which one I'll get.

Just thought I'd give those in NYC a heads up.

A friend of mine just reported the same thing. I'm sad that 16gb models don't seem to be available because that's what I'm holding out for. I'm not willing to be stuck with 8gb (I tend to run a number of virtual machines at once), but wish I could replace my broken laptop now (enough that I'd even shell out for the ultimate, even though I don't care about the maxed out SSD or CPU).

Oh well, July 12-18 delivery date isn't too long, right? Right?

Both 2.3 and 2.6 available at 14th street in NYC

I just came back from 14th street store in NYC. They currently have both models in stock (2.3 and 2.6).

Again, they said that they don't have the ultimate 2.7 configuration (the one that I am looking for) and the employee said that he didn't think any store was carrying it yet.

I guess we will have to wait a little bit longer... and by little bit I mean an excruciating 2-3 weeks for the 2.7/16/768 model.

Wow! Thankyou very much!:D

I will print off the price, with the Apple education discount deducted from the Apple store website as well.

Thankyou :)

Nyc 5th ave

Picked up my ret MBP, 512gb ssd with 8gb RAM at the 5th ave 24 hour apple store. They had the entry level and this one, and still has stock if anyone is interested

To anyone interested in knowing -

2.3 & 2.6 models were in stock at the Apple store in Troy, Mi (Somerset). Well make that -1 in stock on the 2.6 Retina's. :)

Base model was in stock at Partridge creek when I called, but Troy was closer for me.

Apple store in Shadyside (Pittsburgh) had both base and the middle one (512GB SSD) in stock earlier today. I think unmet demand may be easing slightly...? This thread ain't nearly so popular, folks have been getting their computers probably.

Sorry I didn't post earlier (I was at their store around 11:30)...the store was crowded but most folks seemed to be there for some sort of "class" in the back, and the folks in line ahead of me were mainly buying macbook airs, imacs, and ipads. Didn't see anyone buying retina macbooks.

Anyone know if any stores (best buy or apple) have any in stock in MN? Im at work and cant really call around.

quick search on bestbuy's site didn't show anything in stock (base model only) in a page of stores centered around minneapolis. They don't let you check the 2.6GHz model on their site yet, or if so I don't know how to...

No, just the 8gb models. The only 16gb model that the stores will carry is the maxed out version, and the store personnel at Southlake and at Fort Worth said that they've not received any of those yet.

Yea, I went to South Lake yesterday! Hopefully, my maxed out MBP will ship pretty soon! Starting to get inpatient!

The Apple Store Galleria had the base config ($2,199) and Highland Village had base and higher-end config ($2,799) this morning. I talked to the Galleria manager and she said they've only received a couple of the "ultimate" versions 2.7/16/768. But they pretty much don't get anything with 16GB.

I picked up the base model from the Galleria on Friday but I want one with 16GB instead of 8GB. So I ordered one through them today. They are going to let me keep the one I have until it arrives (3-4 weeks) and they're extending the return period until it arrives.

So I'm using the base model and they'll refund it when the new one gets here. :D

In short, you might have a hard time finding a 16GB config in stock.
I originally picked up a base model but found that I could really use the 16GB of RAM, especially if I can't upgrade it. So I ordered a 16GB configuration on the 19th of June and since had to return the 8GB one. :(

I am really sad, now I don't have a laptop (except whenever I can borrow the Macbook Air) until Apple ships me the order. I wish they would've extended my return period and let me keep it until it arrives.

In fact when returning it, I realized I had some files I didn't backup yet and kindly asked if I could copy them over. They said I need a one-to-one membership for that (that's $99). I wasn't going to pay that for copying a few files over to the other laptop (Macbook Air) I had with me at the time. I said really, you can't pause the return process for a few minutes and let me backup some files? No, I had to pay... so I just gave up and let a couple days work get lost. I didn't think they'd be that strict, or else I would've backed up everything.. but I was in a rush, using the laptop until the last day of the return and bringing the other one with me for *just this case*. Oh well.. that was my first and probably last shopping experience at an Apple retail store, I'll continue buying online. :D

Oh wow.

I spoke with the store manager at the Galleria. Told her that I have a base config in my possession, which I bought from that store. But that I wanted the 16GB upgrade. She allowed me to order the custom config through her Business Team... AND she offered to let me keep my current RMBP until the replacement arrives. She basically extended the return period to 30 days.

So they ordered the custom laptop for me (2.3/16/256). I received the confirmation on June 27. It's a 3-4 week wait but at least I'm not without a laptop.

She was clear, of course, that the laptop would have to be in perfect shape in order to accept the return and that they would wipe the hard drive. Since I have a Time Capsule, I have everything backed up. I will do a full system restore once I receive the new one.
