In Store Today?

Has anyone had any luck getting in applestores or bestbuys?
Im in houston

15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display
2.6GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7, Turbo Boost up to 3.6GHz
16GB 1600MHz DDR3L SDRAM
768GB Flash Storage or 512

The Apple Store Galleria had the base config ($2,199) and Highland Village had base and higher-end config ($2,799) this morning. I talked to the Galleria manager and she said they've only received a couple of the "ultimate" versions 2.7/16/768. But they pretty much don't get anything with 16GB.

I picked up the base model from the Galleria on Friday but I want one with 16GB instead of 8GB. So I ordered one through them today. They are going to let me keep the one I have until it arrives (3-4 weeks) and they're extending the return period until it arrives.

So I'm using the base model and they'll refund it when the new one gets here.

In short, you might have a hard time finding a 16GB config in stock.

Found a 512gb/2.6 model at a best buy in West Paterson NJ and they price matched apple's education price, but no gift card.

If anyone in North Jersey is interested in buying the 2.3/256gb/16gb RAM which I have on order with Apple (should be delivered late this week or early next week), I am willing to sell it at cost at what I bought it for just to help a fellow MacRumors member out otherwise Ill just cancel it.

If it helps anyone, they had two 2.6/8/512 left at 4pm in round rock best buy at Ih35. I took one, so one left.

Showed "coming soon" for base and above model even though they said they were out of stock when called on the phone. Got there and they were in the back in brown cardboard shipping boxes.

Should still have some base models too.

Finally!

I am making this post from my new base model Retina MacBook Pro Phoned randomly around 1:00 today, they say they had limited stock first come first serve (Apple Store Pacific Center, Downtown Vancouver). Turns out there was three base models in stock. By the time I was walking out of the store, they were all sold out. Seriously, this whole situation is just luck!

I agree. I was on the way to South Coast Plaza anyway, I called the Apple store while in the downstairs parking garage near the Apple store and got the sorry no stock, nothing came in today, you can order it online. Went up the escalator, walked in and bam in stock!

In all honesty, I'm sure they are getting a phone call every 30 seconds asking the same question for a Macbook Pro with Retina. Its easier to say no stock.

For those that live around OC, The Apple Store in South Coast are getting a decent load of shipments everyday. Don't bother calling, they will just tell you no stock, likewise for all the stores around the area (Fashion Island, Irvine).

They usually unpack around 12:00-12:30PM. I suggest showing up at 12PM and just keep asking. Saw four retinas sold in front of my eyes within 5 minutes.

Just to confirm so I don't have to read through 70 pages...

Apple stores don't have much customization with their stock right?

I would call the Galleria and Highland Village as soon as they open. Speak with the manager, though. They are much more accommodating.

I picked up one of 5 that came into one of the 6 best buys in the area. Strange that they all came into one store. Best Buy has always been my least favorite place to go to but they did an amazing job in fixing my view of them today

The deal I got was that they price matched Apple's education discount and they also gave me $50 off anything I wanted in the store (I needed a new hard drive so that's perfect). They couldn't match apple's $100 iTunes gift card but I would rather have the $50 off anything in their store anyways

Ended up paying $2170 for the base model after student discount. Walked away happy

I think that's how it works, someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I believe that stores will also carry the maxed out version, but that looks to be a longer wait...

Nothing in the Apple Store at the Eaton Centre. Supposedly they have only got 2 since launch.

Starting to think ordering online is the quickest way.

I used this site (Find it at a Best Buy Store) yesterday after someone mentioned the tip about seeing it as "coming soon" and picked up a base model from the Dadeland location an hour later. Not sure how many are left but the site shows "Available Now" at several locations and even offers in store pickup.

Beautiful computer... Just trying to decide if I should keep my Apple order for the 16-GB / 512-GB SSD and return this one to Best Buy when it arrives...
