Im not sure about how it will do on the 3g but on my first gen it scratched my chrome bad. I didnt believe all the reviews but they were true. They were tiny but noticeable to me.

Do you carry around sand in your pockets? I've been using the white slider for a week or so now and the chrome on my phone is not scratched at all. I have removed my case a few times and taking it off/putting it on hasn't scratched the chrome, either.

It will. Or at least, it did on my first gen iPhone. Seemed like it wasn't going to, so I stopped paying attention to it. Then one day I took the case off, and the chrome had scratches in several places. And that case was a tight fit. The secret is, once you put it on, plan on selling it with it, or with some other case.

I just took mine out and its scratch free and flawless so far. So according to your experience, even the snug fit of the slider will scratch up the bezel pretty bad eh?

What do you use now?

I just wanted to add that I kept that phone, as I do the new one, in pants pockets, by itself (and I'm not a beach guy). Sometimes on the seat of the car, by itself. Little grains of this and that just come out of nowhere and get under the edges of that case, and not only that one. For instance, I'm seeing it happen with the Incase Protective Case, which answers your question about what I'm using now. I like that one surprisingly well, after not expecting to. The Apple Store gave it to me as a freebie after telling me they had the Slider and having me drive across town to get it, only to find out it was wrong. Anyway, for free it will make a nice spare, but it gets crud under its edges, too, and it will stretch out if taken off and put back on very often. My Slider is due at my house tomorrow. I just liked it so much, I had to have one for the iPhone 3G. You don't see the scratches if you leave the case on the phone (and don't think about it too much)! Good luck with yours; feel free to post occasionally as you continue to remain scratch-free.

White Incase 3g Slider update

Everyone that has a white incase 3g slider and find it difficult to remove can call customer support. On Monday 8/25 they received a new special batch of white 3g sliders that were made slightly bigger. The customer service manager assured me that it will not be difficult to take off. He sent one out to me on Monday and I received it yesterday. I put it on and it definitely is easier to take off. It didn't take two people to remove. So if you are having this problem I suggest you call and get a new one sent out to you because they only were shipped two new boxes of the slightly bigger white 3g slider.

Sounds good because I had a white one that I returned for the same reason. Mine was so tight, I couldn't even get it on the phone completely. Instead I got a black matte one and the fit was much better.

Just got my matte black slider to go with my white iPhone 3g and I love it. I was very hesitant about the look of the matte (now just worried it will start chipping) as I had the glossy black for my original iPhone. The case fits perfect and comes off easily (but not too easily so that its loose).

Just got my glossy black incase (yes, glossy black) that I ordered directly from their site.

DOESNT FIT!

Dammit!!

Edit: wow.. I just pwned myself by buying the one for the original iPhone.. *facepalm*

This is just great. I'm sorry, but I had to lol on this one.

I don't blame you..

I feel like such a retard!! I always thought something was wrong because I was like, "hey, there's a glossy black version for the 3g!! sweet!" so I ordered it right then and there.. then I went back the next day and saw it was gone, so I thought, "sweet, I bought one before it got sold out!"

From then on, I proceeded to wait SIX days to receive my package. I got it today and leaped with joy when my doorbell rung. I ran down and swooped the package, rushed upstairs, and took a good 5 minutes polishing my iPhone.

I then tried to put it on, but to no avail. Angrily, I called their customer service and tried to get a replacement, and the guy was like "Does it say 'for the iPhone 3G at the bottom of the box?" and I looked.

All I said was "oh ****" and hung up.

Facepalm.

It refers to a Power Support screen protector.
Can be purchased at Apple store, Apple.com or Powersupportusa.com

Almost there.....do I want the...

Power Support Anti-Glare Film Set for iPhone 3G

Or

Power Support Crystal Film Set for iPhone 3G

Hmm...Opinions?

That comes down to:

nearly full clarity with almost no reduction in fingerprints/smudges (crystal)
vs.
reduced clarity but virtually smudge-free (anti-glare)

I can deal with the reduced clarity, but not constant smudges. That's why I went with the anti-glare. I like it a lot.

I've had both. After I switched to the anti-glare, I got my slider which made a bubble under my film. So I had to be a perfectionist and try to reapply the anti-glare. I screwed up 2 of them. Not sure how to fix one of these things after it gets even the tiniest piece of lint.
I went with Ghost Armor on the front. I was using it on the back before I got the slider but never used the front part.
I have invisible shield on my ipod touch but I wanted more protection from bumps and impact so I got the slider. I like the Ghost Armor screen protector. It's clear and any smudges wipe right off it plus I know it's strong as hell.
As far as I can tell all of the products in this category (skins) are similar. They claim on Ghost Armor that there's no orange peel look to it. I think that's not entirely true. I would say it is rarely noticable. Usually on a black screen with light reflecting off.

I don't know. After many configurations I'm enjoying this configuration in both looks and protection. White iphone, black matte slider, and Ghost Armor Screen Protector (although I think any of the screen protectors are solid, it's a matter of taste). My only gripe with the anti-glare came to watching movies.

I spoke to a CS rep at Incase about my Slider for the 2nd time and the rep told me that they received new bigger Sliders on Monday and they were beginning to ship on Tuesday from their warehouse. The rep told me that the iPhones that are having these problems are being made a little bigger at a different factory and that they have been making the cases according to the specifications they got online. Everything is being fixed and the new cases being ordered shouldn't have the problem anymore.

I was told the same thing as chrismac00 by the incase customer support, in which case the black on shouldn't fit your phone either. That is so strange that Apple would have phones on the shelf that are out of spec...

I wonder if we can get a replacement for the iPhones that are bigger. I scratched mine really bad when I broke off the case. What can I do???

Anyone with report of bezel or body scratches from the slider yet? I have yet to see one on mine.

What concerns me though is that the openings for the camera lanes, earhphone and top of the rocker switches are not flushed with the body of the slider. Infact you can see it raised a bit. Enough to get lots of lint and junk in side the body of the case between your iPhone and the case.

Does anyone have any idea how long it takes for Incase to issue refunds?

They received my returned case last Monday (with all the packing slips and refund info), but I haven't gotten anything yet.

I hate calling companies, so I've just been waiting it out, but I'm starting to think I need to talk to them.

Hmm same here, I returned my case and they received it last Friday. If yours was last Monday and mine was four days after.. ugh

Could you update me BoingoBongo if you got your refund yet?
