I don't expect great sound quality. Hell, I didn't even care about the reverberation within the case when using the speaker. BUT if I can't make a phone call using just my handset(speaker OR earpiece) there's a problem.

I don't have any issues with making phone calls on mine using the headset speaker. I did at first, but I honestly think that was because I took a phone call right after water testing the case and the opening were still wet. I looked at the back of the case while on the phone and there was still water in the little opening for the rear mic. I shook that out and the sound got a lot better. I then took another call about 30 minutes later, and the sound was even better.

I do have vibration with the bottom speaker, however it is tolerable. Again. It was really bad when the membranes Were still wet, and then got better.

Yes, the sound is quieter that is put out of the speaker. However, if you open the bottom door, the sound improves a lot. If I were listening to a movie or music with my phone, that's probably what I would do. In normal everyday use though it's not absolutely necessary. You can hear out of it okay but the sound is diminished.

The other thing is the touch sensitivity of the glass. The sensitivity seems to be very good in the center of the screen however, as others have commented, it's a bit diminished around the edges. I'm wondering if part of this has to do with the fact that I have another screen protector on my phone still inside of the case. I may try and remove that eventually and see if the sensitivity improves with glass directly on the glass of the phone.

I'm going to do some more testing with this case over the weekend and then I'll report back. Going to use it at the pool and out in the water and see how that goes. Overall I think this is a pretty good case for what it's supposed to do. I don't think it'll be an everyday case for me which is fine because I've got a ton of them, but definitely might be my go to weekend case.

Ok I have a good one. I received a grey pre order from incipio a couple of days ago. Everything is fine. Just the sound is not as strong. I really wanted the white one from day one. So I purchased one from Verizon. I made one call and the caller couldn't hear me. Then the high pitch noise started like another poster here mentioned. I returned it to Verizon and they said that I was the second person with this problem. Maybe there is a bad batch of white cases from Verizon? I've been using my grey one from incipio since Wednesday and its almost perfect. Just remember that the earpiece will be muffled after its submerged in water. Once it drys its fine again.

Well if you expect it to be crystal clear with a water proof case you are crazy
Nope, but I can get better audio and the same water protection with a ziplock bag. I will be picking up an Armor today. Not looking forward to the size, but Otterbox seems to have done a better job of making a bullet-proof case that actually still allows your phone to be heard properly.

I will give it another shakedown today. I removed the phone from the case and re-aligned it this morning. Surprisingly, the rattle has diminished and I, so far, have not had any feedback when calling. Speakerphone quality for both me and my wife (on the other end) was not stellar, but that's not a huge deal for me. Proximity sensor seemed to work as designed. I do have two weeks to decide, so I'll put it through it's paces for a few more days. This thing is a pain in the a$$ to open!...and, now the rattle is back. I have to keep asking the caller on the other end to repeat themselves. Argh!

Gee you like throwing the insults, crazy, delusional, do you work for Atlas. Its a phone case and people are having problems with sound. Face the facts and move on.

Yes people are "having problems with sound" but i dont understand how you can expect it to be as clear as without a case. I mean it is a waterproof case, it just seems like people buy it not really needing everything it offers and then complain about it. It seems like if you can deal with the size just get the armor

The sensitivity on mine is less around the edges as well and I do not have a screen protector on. It is not terrible bad, just not as responsive as in the middle of the screen.

I've been using the LP and been liking it but was gonna pick up a Atlas today.

I use bitesms and swipe status bar for quick compose is it possible with the Atlas? Also use Zephyr. Anybody have problems swiping down for NC or swiping up using Zephyr?

I have no issues with swiping or pressing on my status bar.

For those who are having issues what color case do you have? Is it only the white ones having issues?

Acceptable sound vs. unacceptable sound. That's all it is. Of course, the sound will not be the same as a naked phone, but I am expecting it to operate at a decent level for the price it is offered at. Afterall, it is protecting a PHONE! I suppose, for some people it is little more than a text based platform.
I am a working boat captain and would really like a case that will protect my phone on the water and allow me to be able to hear the person on the other end while underway.

I'm also going to give it a few more days to see if I can adjust it enough to work. If not, I might give the Armor a try. It's a bit big for my liking, but the upside is that it's really easy to get on and off when I'm not at work.

My phone currently resides in a ziplock bag at work.

Which is why I said the armor would probably work better for you.

I have the lack/ gray case from incipio & have noticed the very short but loud sound like a beep. Makes me think its another call coming in but kind of louder then that alert it. I am going to work on the phone alignment in the case when I get home today as I think it's off a little just by looking at the flash &. Camera lens not being centered in the holes in the case for them.

Got it, returned it. Couldnt hear the ring becuase it's quiet. Also the sound quality is terrible.
I have the armor and its perfect. Didnt have issues yet.

I'm trying like crazy to like this case. The glass lens is a huge win. The raised home button is a little weird, but easy to get used to. The mute toggle is...well...different. I've found that to turn the speaker on, you push in, to mute, you flip it up. It's kind of like the LP in this regard, but not quite. I still can't get past the sound, though. The rattling and distortion is just plain unacceptable. It reminds me of the sound issues encountered with the LP. I did stop by the AT&T store this afternoon and picked up the Armor. I plan on doing a side by side through tomorrow. The LP hasn't done it for me. The Seidio had enough bad reviews to skip. So, now it's between the Atlas and Armor. I guess we still have the Griffin to be hopeful for.

Well, I un-boxed the Otterbox Armor, did a water test and installed the phone. Boy, the case is big! I did some preliminary sound tests...the sound quality is much more similar to the Defender case. It's pretty impressive! After a full test, I will post in the Armor thread. Unfortunately, the Atlas is going back tomorrow. :( Maybe Griffin will be the best compromise of size and features...

Can anyone say that they're NOT having sensitivity issues towards the edges of the screen or that they aren't hearing distortion/vibration out of the earpiece when listening to someone during a call? I can probably live with the poor sound quality during calls, but I'm getting pretty sick of all the typos and repeated attempts at trying to get the delete key to 'work.'

There are definitely some things I like about this case but I'm leaning towards bringing it back to Verizon. Wondering if I should give another one a try though. I doubt it matters, but let us know what color case you have if you aren't having these issues. Somewhere back someone said that it seemed like a lot of people who've been having issues seem to have the white & grey case. That's what I have so I thought I'd mention it.

I have a white case, touch is excellent. Bare screen good. Calls at top volume have a distortion, but if you just turn the volume down a little bit it is much better. Music at top volume can sound a bit like a blown speaker. Again turning the volume down helps. The sound coming out of my case has gotten better with use. I wonder if the membranes need a break in period. I played music for a couple hours last night and the distortion had almost disappeared. Speakerphone has an echo for the other person. None of these things so far will make me return it. The screen is priceless. Clear, easy to see in sunlight, you can wipe it with your t-shirt and not scratch it and awesome to use.

It's the nature of the beast. It's not going to function like a case that's open. With my lifestyle, the protection and size come first, then I figure out what features each case has that are important and/or essential. Anyone expecting every feature to work perfectly in a closed case is setting the self up for disappointment.

BTW I haven't waited that long, I've used a Lifeproof case for about 2 years now. I am upgrading.
