Does any one know if it was the same countries as last year - or are there more countries involved this time (which also could explain the higher sales numbers the first day)? Would like to see the numbers for country by country compared to last year (and the year before)

Considering people are not made of money, and particularly in this economy, I highly doubt "many" people are doing that. I think you're a rare breed who can afford even one unlocked iPhone.

In this economy a lot of people still have credit cards that have at least £1500 of space on them.
You buy both and return one inside of 14 days later, you can even leave both unopened until you’ve sampled a real one at an Apple retail Store. You never really feel the cost of the other. Still asking myself why I didn’t do that earlier.

Apple expects us to trust them with all our cloud data and credit cards....

If you have an iTunes account you already trust them with your CC info. And if you're referring to Apple Pay, you're CC info isn't stored anywhere other than your phone, it's not even used with you're actually making a payment.

I'm really surprised how much pent up demand there was for the Plus model. I thought most people would find it too cumbersome to use on a daily basis.

I think they still might....but they won't realize it until it is in their hands.
Got my IP6 order in last night.

Can't say that I'm surprised, given the excitement over the iPhone 6 Plus

I am surprised, because I wouldn't be able to make up my mind choosing between two new screen sizes, without at least holding them in my hand, and test the new app layouts on the Plus model.

But then again, when I buy stuff, I look very carefully at every single detail not to be deceived... probably also the reason why I can find so many hiccups even with Apple products. I'm annoying like that ;)

Fair point, but it sounds like a fringe tactic rather than a sweeping movement.

3am PST? I feel really bad for the people that stayed up to try and order through apple.

i'm glad I pre-ordered through verizon (what?!! verizon > apple?) that opened their pre-order promptly 10 minute early(!!).

Except if you had a corporate discount with Verizon, then their system errored out until nearly 4am.

Did anyone else that ordered through Apple get another email saying they had to...

Please click here to return to the Apple Online Store. To maintain the delivery priority of your iPhone order, you will need to complete your purchase by Saturday, September 13, 9:00AM PDT. If you do not complete your purchase by that time, your reservation will be canceled. ???

I am unable to go into to confirm the order since when I log in it says i have already ordered an iPhone 6! And they are already holding my money?

Whoever is responsible for Apple's websites needs to be fired.

The streaming of the keynote was a joke, and the Apple Store pre-order process was probably the worst it's ever been since the iPhone 4.

The people running the Taco Truck video feed on Tuesday was manning the night shift of the pre-orders on the AppleStore. Thats my hunch.

I call *************.

The freaking website was down for the first 2 hours of pre orders.

(...)

I would assume most people where checking both sites, Apple and their carrier - at the carriers where able to accept orders (at least that is true for AT&T, heard rumors that t-mobile was also not up to speed but still better than apple ).

Anyway - those that didn't do that probably tried again in the morning once the got up.

to be fair i believe the initial iPhone 6 Plus stock is also smaller compared to the regular 6

'To be fair', we have no way of knowing that…..

Saw a comment on here yesterday from someone stating he was expecting the shakedown would be be 80-20 in favor of the 4.7", which I doubt 100%, and he was further speculating that "the iPhone6 alone will be the best selling smartphone of all time". Perhaps, at least until the 6S or 7 comes along.

That is how I see it, plus there where still orders being taken around the world too...as far as I know only apple.com/us was down until 6am.

"The Numbers" that is the Important thing, interesting to see how much preorders has been made.

'Incredible' Response to iPhone 6 and 6 Plus as Apple Sets Overnight Pre-Orde...

Things would have been the opposite if the iPhone 6 had all the features of the 6 plus.

Like OIS? What else but the screen, battery and OIS differentiates the two?

My ship time through AT&T is showing November. Lovely.

Yay, I'm not alone, I even had mine ordered 8 minutes after the official launch.

Though, to be fair- I wonder if people who double ordered (Apple when it was free since the AT&T email didn't come through yet) will cancel, possibly bumping us up.

I think right now there may be an artificially inflated sales stat, casually browsing here shows a lot of people who bought from multiple sites to get the best shipping date- a correction may help us all, but it may be a week.

I preordered from Att promptly at 12:03. This is my first time ordering through Att (I usually camp out) Does anyone know based on the past if they deliver on launch day?

check your order confirmation ... it will tell you.

I ordered at 3:05 EST and I will get mine in four weeks (due to the fact that I ordered the silver/white one, which AT&T never has in stock at launch - you only have a launch day delivery chance with the black/spacegray one from the att store ... it's just like in the good old days at ford "You can have any color as long as it is black")

These are preorders. People haven't actually held these larger devices in their hands. Count me sceptical. I'd most likely find the Plus too big. It will be the 6 for me.
