Wait. . . . . I thought nobody wanted a larger phone?

It seems that's all people want as the Plus is nowhere to be found online.

I have a feeling Apple won't be able to keep up with demand for this phone for months seeing that many users on Android, myself included, were just waiting for a larger screen and tablet features to jump ship.

I am surprised, because I wouldn't be able to make up my mind choosing between two new screen sizes, without at least holding them in my hand, and test the new app layouts on the Plus model.

But then again, when I buy stuff, I look very carefully at every single detail not to be deceived... probably also the reason why I can find so many hiccups even with Apple products. I'm annoying like that ;)

I'm not. Other than size and price the iPhone 6 plus is the better phone. The regular 6 feels midrange compared to other Android phones. Go big or go home for most people here.

1. I don't really know how is it possible that each year there is a "record" response for a new iPhone.(?) It could just be a marketing trick.

2. Every time there is a negative situation with Apple (for example the Live Stream of the Keynote which was not working properly or a few years ago the problem with iPhone's antenna) I always see it as positive because I am sure that Apple will never allow this to happen in the future again. So maybe next year we might be able to watch Apple's Keynote directly from satellite, you see they don't like to be humiliated from funny Samsung ads and they will definitely do something about it.

I'm really surprised how much pent up demand there was for the Plus model. I thought most people would find it too cumbersome to use on a daily basis.

Never let a subjective, gut-feel survey of the MacRumors crowd be extrapolated to be representative of the masses. The masses have wanted bigger-screen phones so badly they chose to forgo iOS to get them for years now. Once Apple finally gave them an option to get the bigger screen they want PLUS iOS, a long-unfufillled want could be met.

This crowd here is whining about "man purses" and "new pants with bigger pockets" but the masses are just getting the bigger-screen iPhone they wanted. Ask them about "one-handed use" and they'll look at you like you're an alien (or maybe show you that they have TWO hands). Some of those masses accustomed to even 6+ inch screens are looking at iPhones as "small" and "too small". And just watch: apparently, there will soon be tens of millions of people carrying man purses and wearing baggy pants with oversized pockets OR they'll somehow just make it work without

"The 6 Plus isn't really a "phablet" in comparison to the phones that coined the name. Since the iPhone 6 is so thin, the general consensus seems (among those who have held it) to be that Apple designed it in such a way that it doesn't feel very big."

Pretty much every fanboy on here refers to the Note 3 as a "phablet", if it is, then so is the 6+. Magic Apple fairy dust aside, any phone that is almost 6 1/4 inches long is going to feel big in the average person hands.

Well, the people who still want a smaller one don't really have an option. I wish they would have kept a smaller edition along with introducing the bigger ones. If the Plus kills a 4.0" option in head-to-head sales, then fine. I was happy with 3.5".

Yes, sort of marketing trick: They add more countries every year for pre-order (but they also have bigger stock every year, not not enough for everyone)

But than I also know so many people that still have a 4 or 4s because 5 and 5s was for them not a big enough of an upgrade (guess they thought not much new, still 'looks' the same) - and most of them are now upgrading due to the new design. (Funny what drives some people to upgrade or not)

Preorder Status

I ordered last night at 3:05 AM EST, and this is the status with AT&T Premier Account (expected ship date 10/31-11/1) Anyone think this will likely change to a sooner date at some point?

iPhone 6 Plus 64GB Space Gray 9/19/14

It took me 45 minutes to get Apple App to open, using iPad and iPhone. Then got all the way to carrier checking account info, and then popped up a message "an iPhone has been reserved for you" and an email would follow with instructions to complete your order.
Sure enough I got an email later confirming reservation.

Email stated "when we are able to connect with your carrier, and confirm your account we will send email with link to complete order".

Received email 8:22am and order went right through and confirmed 9/19/14 delivery date.

However, this was the worst pre-order experience for yet!

But once again Apple did come through in the end for me!!!:apple:

RIP SJ

I think there are a lot of people, particularly iPhone users, who don't realize how big a 5.5" phone is. Android users have generally held large phones at one point when purchasing a new one, and many use a 5" phone.

I suspect there will be a lot of shocked iPhone 6 Plus owners.

Depends on the person as with anything. My g3 is 5.5 and it feels fine to me. But then I'm 6'3...I wouldn't expect my 5'5 wife to share the same sentiment

Hopefully good for my Apple stock. I got my 128 GB iPhone 6 pre-ordered from AT&T (premier customer, renewed a 2 year contract) at around 8am ET with no hassle. I hear some other people had problems. ;) :D

"Problems" doesn't begin to describe the 3 1/2 hour debacle I went through.

The premier site was unresponsive. When it finally got going the link to "Preorder iPhone 6" led to even more issues.

Online chat rep. Could not place orders.

I ended up calling premier representative. Huge language barrier, slow ordering system and representative seemed unfamiliar with process.

Finally got phones ordered. Unfortunately, iPhone 6 plus not shipping until 10/13-10/22.

Guess I'm just unlucky. Honestly, every 2 years when I upgrade, the ordering process gets longer and more difficult.

Last night I ordered a 64GB iPhone 6 through AT&T due to the Apple store problems. This morning I cancelled my AT&T order and placed an order through the Apple Store for in-store pickup. I received an email confirmation from Apple stating "We’ll email you as your items become available for pickup" so I think everything went through on Apple's end. I received confirmation that my order through AT&T had been cancelled, but now when I log into the AT&T website it is still showing there is an order that was placed today (but with a different order number than I had been provided by AT&T when I placed my order). Does anyone know if AT&T's website would reflect that I placed an order through Apple somehow?

Like OIS? What else but the screen, battery and OIS differentiates the two?

Running two panel apps and other iPad optimized apps. Without that I would've still been on the fence. No use stretching out iPhone sized apps since they are already rather meh on a 4" screen.

True, i do feel for you guys. I thought about selling my iPod Touch but now with such a big phone, I will keep it for when I need something SOOPER small to take with me.

Maybe next cycle they will have just the three models, 4" 4.7" and 5.5" iPhone 6s ? ? ? ? ?

Verizon is telling my fiancé that she won't get her 64gb iPhone 6+ silver until 10-28!!!!! What a joke. Might get it faster checking back at the local store.

On a side note my iPhone 6 space grey will be available for pick up next friday!!!!

Man, I just placed my order for an iPhone 6 64GB in space gray. Was fully expecting to have an estimated ship date a few weeks out. Looks like I should get it day one.

I thought about getting the iphone plus but in the end i felt the bulkyness would get annoying. Hopefully, apple with shrink those bezels for the iphone 7 when I buy again.

But that only works in landscape in some apps.

Too bad they didn't make enough Space Gray 5.5" 64GB iPhones so I could get one on launch day. Instead, Apple rather me wait a month.

I for one am surprised that there were so many waiting for the "phablet".

Same here. I was one of those claiming it wouldn't do well in the Apple users camp. I pre-ordered the 6 this morning; The 6+ was a little to big for my taste.

I wonder though, how many of the 6+'s sold were to existing iPhone customers and how many were android converts. If that number has changed from previous releases.

Awaiting Samsung's reply Ad: "LOOKS APPLE COPIED US".

For once, they are right.

Apple, what have you become.
