No way to really know until next Fri. but I hope this doesn't translate into long pre-order p/u replacing the previously long buy-on- release-day line. Couldn't do the direct shipping this year so store p/u was my only "express" option.

Yup especially after apple customers have been told that phablets are too big and can't be used one handed and that the perfect size was 3.5 and then 4 inches. I actually find it a bit hypocritcal how apple and fanboys kept saying android phones were too big and now they are going nuts for the plus. Guess sorta of the same thing with smaller tablets when the iPad air came. But whatever it's good to have choice and apple is listening to peoples demand. I just wish they would have went with 5 and 5.5inch. 5 inches is a nice size for a phone.

Bought my dad the 4.7 I think 5.5 would freak him out a little to much coming from a 3.5 iphone 4. :D

It is because the fanboys are a vocal minority, the majority are your average customer who may or may not be following trends in the market.

But I thought everyone said the iPhone 6 was ugly? Apple is doomed! :apple:

I can honestly say without hesitation that the iPhone 6, in my opinion, is the ugliest phone Apple has ever made. Although you know that didn't stop me from buying it, lol...

Because some carriers had them with 9/19 delivery dates while Apple's site said 3 - 4 weeks (or more).

But, by all means, please keep going straight to Apple for your preorders. It means fewer supply constraints for those of us who use our carrier.

I had zero trouble in getting mine for the 19th. You do realize Apple ships a way larger supply to themselves then to the carriers, right?

I didn't know a Nexus 4 could run iOS 8 in 2012! Thanks for the update!

Why order through AT&T when Apple is the one who makes it?

Because Apple's site was down and the acted as if we would be able to order at 12:01 PST and according to this forum it was over 3 hours later. I had hoped that ordering earlier would get me on an earlier "wave" of shipments. Apparently not!

I'm really surprised how much pent up demand there was for the Plus model. I thought most people would find it too cumbersome to use on a daily basis.

I thought the same thing but I geuss if you think about it most people don't actually talk on the phone that much anymore. You really have to look at the 5 inch+ phones as a more portable tablet. I'm emabarrased to say but now when someone calls me I typically will let it go to voicemail then text that person back. I know it's sad but I would rather send a quick text at my convience than get caught up in some lengthy coversation.

I would have loved to order from Apple, but their website doesn't let you use upgrade eligibility for a different line on your account that is eligible to 'trade with'. At&t's website lets you do this, and in store they allow you to do this....So, now I'm stuck until Mid October, or cancel and try the local store next week...

Can't wait to see these people who has early iPhone 6 or 6+ destroying their iPhone in the name of product testing!

I should clarify: that's for my spouse and me. I ditched my unlimited data the other day in preparation for this, and got a Mobile Share plan of $130/month (with 10GB data -- we never use more the 8 combined). So the breakdown came to this:

AT&T 2-year contract on October 21 (when our contract expires); shipping time TBD:
$399 per phone = $798
$130 per month for 2 years = $3,120
TOTAL: $3,918

AT&T Next; ships in 3–4 weeks:

$849 per phone = $1,698
$130 per month for 2 years = $3,120
TOTAL: $4,818

That's a $900 difference, which I was willing to do until Apple's website wouldn't load. If I ordered now, I wouldn't get the phone until around the time my contract expires, so why not wait and save the money. That pushes the phone out further, of course.

I had never tried to pre-order the iPhone when it went live, and I will never attempt to do so again because it led to frustration and disappointment.

You don't fully understand the Next plan. If you are on a contract you will not be paying $130. My guess is that you are like me. When they moved me to the shared data plan, they treated me as though I had brought my own phone. I still wasn't eligible to initiate another contract for a year, but I wasn't paying the second year of my phone. Next year if you buy a phone on contract you won't be paying $100 + $15 per phone, it will be considerably more. Back to what you were paying before you moved to shared. I promise you that Next is absolutely cheaper than on contract.

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but with next, you get a $15 discount per line per month @ 10GB, that you wouldn't otherwise get on a conventional 2 year contract?

why did ATT force us to join NEXT when our upgrade is next month???

Att didn't force you; you elected to move to Next in exchange for getting the phone next week instead of next month. If you wait until next month you can keep your existing contract.

I think everyone said the watch was ugly... not the phone although I'm not a fan of the gold but its about personal preference.
