Wow 400 kms? How come?
pre booked one on 27th from a store 90km away. that was the day they told me they started pre bookings. I was promised a delivery on 1st or by the latest 2nd week. however to my horror yesterday they informed me (which was after multiple calls from my side) it'd take up to jan 1st week and that pre bookings started on 21st lol. I surely couldn't wait that long and I started calling every store one by one. very luckily this store had one piece available. immediately decided to go for it.

Well, as of this writing it seems both Aptronix and Imagine have got the M1 macs IN-STOCK.
Their websites list them as 'in-stock' but the order page says otherwise.

I ordered a 16G 256G Mac Mini on 1st December with Unidays student discount for 76K INR and it estimates the delivery date to be "23 Dec - 31 Dec". ONE MONTH?? It's SOOO slow for Apple. 8 Days later it's still showing "Processing".

And all this BS talks about "doing quality checks" - "so the best version of the computer is delivered to me" - these are not helping. Sorry but I neither like nor trust Indian quality standards. I hope the Apple support team is talking nonsense like snake oil sellers and I hope I get the standard Apple standard product that resonates with Apple brand, India manufactured or not.

I need a computer desperately as I no longer have my previous 2017MBP. On that note, if anyone can suggest me on anything that might expedite the process, the help would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. Also can anyone please explain why the hell these M1 mac minis are so slow in being delivered? The US store says 2 weeks for the same BTO. The Denmark store says 2 weeks as well. Indian store says 3 weeks. What the hell! I'm new to ordering apple stuff from their website. Is this always the case? Is apple this slow in India?

Are you me? Haha, I have a similar story. My MBA 16/512 is slated for 18-26 Dec delivery and of course, it’s stuck on processing.
But I’ve noticed with Apple India, it stays on processing till 1-2 days before getting delivered, as these are imported in bulk from China before being shipped from Mumbai.

I originally ordered an Air with 16gb, but then realised that maybe 8gb is enough so cancelled and ordered 8gb, with delivery dates of 3-9 Dec. Then I realised that my workflow needs 16gb ram, so I cancelled again and ordered the 16/512.

Used the UNiDAYS discount as well, plus the custom config, so can’t go to the local store to pick up.

Usually, at least abroad, Apple’s delivery dates are very pessimistic, so if it says 18-26, it should really show up around the 12th. However, Apple India doesn’t seem to be working that way and it will probably come around the 24th.

I’ll keep us all updated anyway.

Apple online store changed delivery estimate from 2-3 weeks to 3 weeks from the last few days. It's available no where, so glad I was able to pick it up from a store even though it took considerable amount of effort and money (Kerala routes and traffic :sigh: ).

But the machine is worth it 100%. loving it.

Yeah plus it's even longer if you upgrade the ram and MUCH longer if you upgrade the SSD.

It almost feels like buying a latest gen GPU. Availability is gone through the toilet. I've never seen this much delay in any purchases from anywhere ever. Maybe from Aliexpress but apart from that I've never had to wait a month for something I ordered.

Also, how you got one unit out of nowhere is beyond me and seriously congratulations. I'm still looking forward to waiting about a month. It sucks.

Ditto. I thought it'd come in stock everywhere by 1st or 2nd week of December. when the store I pre booked said I might have to wait for a month (which is after two weeks of waiting already), I'm not even kidding I was beyond frustrated and upset. I sold off my previous laptop and I needed one asap. And yes, how I got one out of nowhere is beyond me as well haha, because that store never picked up my calls for the previous two weeks (most apple stores don't), but that day they answered my call and told me they have one unit and asked if I could come the same day. They accepted to hold it for the next day. Felt extremely lucky that day.

Let me tell you again, the wait is gonna be worth it. Battery life is superb. Thermals are excellent. Display and speakers are really nice too (like any MacBook).

Safari seems to have some issues though. Hope it'll be fixed soon.

I ordered a mac mini. So battery life or display or externals are nearly meaningless to me. I got Qacoustics 3020i+WXA-50s and already have a 4K LG USB-C monitor that I used to use with a 2017 13" macbook pro. And holy shaite that system was slow. To give some context.. Every time I hit full screen on youtube the animation took 3-5 seconds and stuttered about 3 times each while getting in and out of full screen. Imagine seeing that 50 times a day. Whenever I had to open lightroom I had anxiety because the filters and photos changed 3-4 seconds after clicking next thumbnail. (Editing 200+ photos like that in a project is maddening).
I'm a designer and oftentimes have to work with multiple adobe products open. It was so slow that I decided to sell and buy a 2019 15" macbook pro for 2.5 lacks and I'd have done so blindly had not for these M1 macs that dropped last month. So I am feeling pretty good. At least I won't have to work with abysmally slow computer anymore. That's a relief.

BTW, what kind of issues are you facing in Safari?

P.S. To anyone reading this or any 2017MBP owner, I want to confess.. I am not a typical user and I get that fast or slow is subjective. While 2017 13" 4TB3 macbook pro is not a dull computer by ANY means, my use cases are abnormally taxing sometimes and hence my opinion of them formed like this. :D

Youtube full screen took the same amount of time on a 2.6kg i7 with 1050ti gaming laptop too. but guess what, completely smooth on the M1!!

Safari scrolling is really bad as of now. Stutters when scrolling sometimes and on YouTube there's a sticky scroll issue. Weird thing is chrome is absolutely fine. safari needs an update asap.

U might want to take a look at Safari Technology Preview for the time being. Last time I used big sur I noticed scrolling issues on Safari in YouTube. The safari technology preview doesn’t have any of those it seemed. Give it a try, might be worth it.

Sure. Although today is 7th day since it shipped and Bluedart link is still not active :(
Thanks!

Although that’s quite concerning about the delivery. I ordered a case recently for my phone which had bluedart tracking almost immediately.

Realising that I am going to be in the same boat as you with regard to timelines, I contacted support chat today.

The guy told me that indeed my custom MBA has shipped, but because it hasn't reached India as yet, the Bluedart tracking is not yet active. Once it reaches India, Bluedart tracking will become active.

Seems like the custom configs are indeed being shipped straight from China, like how it's done in the rest of the world. This process is invisible to us, unlike in other places where you can track your machine right from Shanghai.

I think you should wait till Wednesday, I was supposed to get my shipment on 4th December and I got mine on 2nd December itself. There is a huge chance that Apple ships the computer by tomorrow or the day after tomorrow (Tuesday).
