If you have any question about a profession, item, quest, achievement, just head over to www.wowwiki.com. In Huntn's case, he would've found every bit of info he needed at www.wowwiki.com/First_Aid.

For professions there are 'economical training' guides if you want to get skilled with as little as possible.

There are also links to thottbot, wowhead for relevant links.

Great info. Thanks. Now I'm pissed I wasted 60 silk on this profession. :p

Next question: to reduce the size of the WoW folder does anyone know if the MPQ files located in WoW's Data folder are required to run the game or are they movies that are not needed?

Oh, recently I tried to stick some arrows in my ammo pouch and they would not go there? I've done some searches online without success. Anyone know?

Thanks!

Thanks. I managed to figure this out. :)

Any Wow Armorsmith's reading?

At about skill level 271 I made some Earthforged Leggings and to my horror this blue item is BOP (bind on pickup) so as soon as it's made, it's soul bound.

What the heck does this do to a profitable profession? If you can't sell your goods, it's a lot of work just to equip yourself. However at the higher levels you can make yourself things like the Breast Plate of Kings. Are there any examples of high level armor that you can sell for profit?

Is this how all professions are- once you start churning out blue stuff of higher it's no longer sale-able? If you're looking to make gold, it appears like you'd be better off just selling the mats.

Your Search Engine along with "wowwiki" is your friend. There is alot of detailed info there. Just give it a look...I for one am working on Blacksmithing and its an expensive profession....

The debate becomes is it worth the time investment versus just harvesting ore, smelting it and selling? I spent hours and hours gathering materials to make 3 items that I could not sell. Core of Earth was one of them. Serves me right for not paying attention in advance. ;)

DK starter area question. I was trying to complete the Brothers in Death quest but having some troubles as there were several people in the basement of Scarlett Hold trying to do it. I was in a party who suggested we abandon the quest and then go pick it up again from the quest giver Thassarian in the Scarlett Tavern. But Thassarian qon't give me this quest again. :( That's what I get for listening to strangers. ;)

I actually have no open quests and have no idea what I'm supposed to do next to complete the DK starter area. Any ideas? Should I just leave the DK starter area? I've posted a ticket on WoW but the first time I got a generic email from Blizzard telling me to report the issue online! (that's what I did). :(

Thanks!

Hmmmm... not sure why he would not give you the quest again unless you are supposed to be in a certain 'state'. I seem to recall a couple of the quests in the starting area required you to step into another dimension kinda thing.

Normally, I would say you could just skip it and move on to other areas but, you really want all of the quest rewards from the area.

I got tired of waiting for something from Blizzard, so I restarted the character as I had about 3 hrs invested. :\

Whatever you do, don't abandon any quests in the DK starter area! :)

I just finished the battle at the Light's Hope Chapel in Eastern Plague Lands. I must say that this is the most fun starter area in WoW as there is actually a story you are involved in. I mean it's not Lord of the Rings, but I'm enjoying the battles so far. It's the most involved I've gotten into any lore in WoW since I've started playing in the beta.

Most of the upper level items in tBC are BOP which is why I mentioned in one of the earlier post of this thread that blacksmithing is a terrible money maker (in tBC). For the WotLK expansion, they did it right and made almost everything BOE.

Note - Enchanting mats have been in short supply so far in WotLK (they go for a lot in the AH). Besides making money by selling the items you craft, you can also DE (disenchant) the items and make good gold on the AH.

Check the AH for ore vs. bars prices, sometimes there's a BIG price difference.

In Burning Crusade level tradeskills, it gets better, the BOEs were blues and the BOPs are epics, but they were later out classed by raid drops. For a while, the crafted BOP weapons were the shizzle.

The reasons for crafting your own gear vary from player to player. My main WoW toons all have a crafting skill, my alts are just gatherers. Min/Max types love to enchant all of their gear, get Enchanter-only ring enchants. Same goes for LW only patches and Jewelcrafter only gem cuts. Engineers seem to do it for the fun (and sweet twink gear if you can power level it)!

Can you play without all of the nice crafted stuff? Sure you can and you'll do just fine.

Agreed, the DK starting quest were very well done.

In WotLK, they put in a lot of effort into the PvE (not just the DK starting area). COT (caverns of time) Strat has a very good story / cut scenes.

So far in WotLK
PvE - Excellent
PvP - Poor (Balance issues)

Good to know. I'm looking forward to getting to Northrend. :)

I've also heard WoW described as being "nerfed" by some disgruntled players. I'd say they've done a lot to make the game a lot more solo friendly but the dungeons still provide some challenge. Since I don't like working my butt off, it's good for me and I like the dungeons too espeically the 5 player dungeons, a far cry from 40 player marathons.

I agree but something says that it's nice to have a high level in-game crafting skill, at least to me anyway. :)

I may be losing my mind, but I'm considering restarting WoW. I've got 5 characters, the top toons are a L60 Human Paladin, a L53 Night Elf Hunter, a L30-something Night Elf Priest, a L20- Human Warlock. I've been told that TBC has a lot of 5 man instances and is pretty friendly for solo/small group players.

I'm wondering if I could restart and do only two nights a week. (Imagine the alcoholic with only two drinks a week. That's what might stop me dead. ;)) I just have to ponder if I want to get back into that highly attractive rat race again. If you've seen my other WoW posts, I'm mostly interested in PVE and small party questing and my Paladin is an Armorsmith, for whatever that is worth. I have not cranked up the game in a while, so I suspect I'll have the luxury of respecking all of my toons for free.

I realize they have done a ton of class balancing since I bailed (before TBC came out.) What's the latest conventional wisdom on strong solo classes? Blizzard seems to think that the Warlock is an excellent Solo Class. But Shadow Priest has always intrigued me too. :D

Any opinions on the casual friendly nature of TBC?
Thanks! :D

DON'T DO IT

YOU WILL HAVE NO LIFE

STAY AWAY FROM WAR CRACK

It's the death of many mac/pc geeks LOLOLOLOL

I have been playing WoW for the last 2 years, and I have had a blast the entire way.

It is somewhat sad how sucked in you can get. Questing with friends, only to look at the clock and realize 8 hours have gone by. Yes, it happens.
Of course, take it in moderation. Take breaks every once in a while, get some fresh air.

Apart from that, WoW is a great game (although PVP is really messed up right now). Classes who "raped face" in the Burning Crusade, are now yesterdays trash. ie. Warlocks. And the classes who were bottom of the barrel for a long time, ie. Ret Paladins, are now killing everything in their path. Sure it's great to see other classes who have never been that great, finally have a chance to be great, but it ruins it for the rest, ie. the people who do not want to reroll a different class.

These are my characters.

Fleebag - Level 80 Feral Druid (Night Elf)
Acidburn - Level 80 Destruction Warlock (Gnome)(who I play the most right now)
Brewmeister - Level 70 Fury Warrior (Gnome)
Silentorgasm - Level 66 Blood Death Knight (Dwarf)
Peeches - Level 16 Hunter (Night Elf) (Raptor pet named Creem ;))

TL;DR I can't remember what the point was of this post, apart from telling you to remember to take it in moderation. Other than that, have fun. WoW is a great game, and will keep you entertained for Hours, Days, ..., Years to come. ;)

Yeah, it's a shame how bad the WoW forums have become riddled with threads about that. I don't know, for me, someone who is recently married and expecting our first baby in 4 months, WoW is a TON more accessible than it was in 2004. Back then, it was such a damn grind to level. Now, I can run an hour or so and feel like I've done something worthwhile. I've also joined a server that are played on by some of my co-workers which helps but as they are all 70+ I'm still soloing everything (save for the occasional instance run just for kicks).

It's definitely still addictive without the fat it used to have. I really hope Blizzard keeps the game fresh - I heard endgame is level 120. That will be a sad day.

There is safety in numbers. ;) Your thread convinced me that there is nothing wrong with starting up again, signed up a few days ago. Now where did that week go !

Good for you! I've studied my WoW addicted friend and I believe that getting yourself into a committed guild raiding relationship is the worse thing you can do. A casual guild with no demands is much better for your gaming health IMO.

And then what? Any good rumors out there as you figure Wow is such a cash cow, they would be working on a follow on of some kind?

When WoW becomes your life, then there is a big problem...
