Your life is not an acceptable cost to be pro at a video game.
For your own sake, steer clear of WoW.
Oh, for Pete's sake, as my Dad likes to say.
WoW isn't going to cost you your life.
I am a professional, a husband and a dad, not necessarily in that order. I am a partner in the firm I work at and have a good career. I'm a regular at my youngest daughter's basketball games and I've never missed my older daughter's dance recitals.
And I play WoW.
Do I play as much as other people on my server? No.
Do I progress like the raid junkies? No.
Do I have time to commit to regular raids? No.
But, do I have fun playing the game? Yes.
I log on once or twice a week on weekday evenings for an hour or two after my youngest is in bed, but I'm always off by 10:30 or so. On the weekends, I pretty regularly play from 7:00 am to 10:00 am on Saturdays before everyone starts to get up (I've never been able to sleep in) and I play for a couple hours Sundays when the kids are doing their homework.
In exchange, I watch very little TV (sorry South Park and Sunday football, but I gotta go with my priorities).
And that's it. No other changes required and I have a Lvl 73 Healadin on Sentinels (recently respecced from Ret to make it easier to get PUGs for the new instances). If you watch two hours of TV a day, you spend more time in front of the tube than I do playing WoW.
So don't get all dramatic about WoW unless you're going to get equally dramatic about other leisure activities people waste a lot of time at (I'm looking at you, ESPN).
