Do you think it’s possible to disable the GT 750M and force the Iris pro iGPU? Then SIP can remain untouched and is my install a succes. I don’t think Apple will re-add Kepler support in final version, do you?
I’m lost here

Ran into a minor strange thing. I reinstalled Monterey with your OC config on external usb SSD for the second time. The first time it could be booted without OC by setting nvram boot-args=“-v -no_compat_check” after install in recovery mode.
Now the second install it won’t work anymore. Nothing important but just trying to understand why.
It's probably because, during the second install, it overwrote the NVRAM and removed the -no_compat_check.

When 12.0.1 is released this Monday, I will install it on a brand-new volume and migrate all my stuff using Migrate Assistant and only then, I will change the NVRAM and boot it without OC...

As I mentioned before, I will keep both macOS versions on the SSD for a while and around 12.1, I will get rid of the Big Sur volumes.

No that's not it. I re-added it in Recovery mode. btw, doing it this way you can leave your SIP in tact.

I really envy you guys, not having chosen this expensive extra when buying it from Apple. Then it just works like a charm on this MBPr late 2013.

Chris his method is the method I absolutely prefer. I'm still trying to find a way to disable the GT 750M dGPU. But it doesn't look promising from what I've read so far.

It puzzles me why Apple had these Kepler driver in this beta (until 7) in the first place. And also why they'd stripped it out eventually. Maybe they have people watching these treads? lol

If I (we) can find a way to make it work with just OC like Chris his approach then It would be great news for all having this 750M in late 2013 (11,3).

You can try the GT 750M without the Intel card, you have to read here
Read ➤ WEG can desactivated the Intel card with a simple boot args
Do the right thing (Add WhateverGreen.kext + boot args in config.plist)
and Iam pretty sur this is work easely; at the end you only have to apply the Geforce Kepler patcher
To be sure, do a Reset NVRAM

Make sur using the EFI folder provided in the first post of this topic!

Thanks Chris.
I thought that to add Kepler drivers (like OCLP post install does) requires to have SIP disabled?
I've tried the OCLP method. And you have to disable SIP indeed. And after applying the patch it I re-enabled SIP but it wasn't possible completely. Applying OCLP post install Kepler patch makes full SIP enabling impossible. It made a custom SIP config and If you enable it, it only enables half of the SIP.
Your method is the way to go imho.

Just say if I'm wrong .. but I think only 2 methods work.
The Iris Pro is not the problem, it's the iGPU, like you have as well. The problem is the lack of drivers for Kepler.
So:
-or disable the Kepler (750M) and let the iGPU do all the work
-or make this Kepler work, and in my case preferable with your method that leaves SIP fully in tact

Thanks again for making this work!

Were I am talk OCLP ?
Read my post Your not need OCLP to do this

Of course you need SIP disable for installing Binary in Monterey 12
csrutil authenticated-root disable (csr-active-config ➤ EF0F0000

No it's what I tried myself just to see. It works of course but not the way I liked.

I'll try your suggestion. But you said that WEG can disable the iGPU. but the goal is the other way around.
Well I'll try and let you know what I can do with WEG.

But the nicest thing would we to make the 750M work but that requires drivers.
Does adding Kepler drivers always mean disabling SIP you think?

Apple drop Support for NV Kepler, this drivers need to be install in /System / Library / Extensions- on Snapshot disk
thats why I create an app for making this easely especelly for Hackintosh but this is work on real Mac
and Yes the SIP csrutil authenticated-root disable (csr-active-config ➤ EF0F0000 must be disable for installing kexts files in the system of Big Sur and Monterey.
Iam pretty sur this drivers work on Monterey Release this monday because the old NV Tesla drivers works in Catalina and Big sur for two years now.

Thanks Chris for sharing, it really helps. I’m learning a lot these days! Slowly I’m getting to know how it works. I don’t have reinvent the wheel but personally I really like to know how to put it together myself. We all were rookies one day. I’ll be more than happy to share once I successfully managed it.

That's very well written and very clear. Thanks!
This is the Release install on Sandy Bridge system wit a Geforce 710 Kepler architecture

How to install macOS Monterey on a MacBook Pro retina late 2013
Without patcher, without any kexts files. Genuine macOS booting with OpenCore SIP activate
Probably work on other Mac? Please confirm this solution if its work for you
Confirm works on MacBook Pro (Mid 2014)

If you want make your own EFI OC I strongly advise you to compile OpenCore from source here ☞ OpenCorePKG

and use the output files in OpenCorePkg ➤ / Binaries ➤ / OpenCore-0.7.3-RELEASE.zip unzip the file and everything is there : DOC , EFI , Utilities
Read the DOC You don't need nothing else

Does this tutorial work with the release version that was out yesterday? And how do I do that? Just substitute the beta version with the release version? BTW I have the pro retina late 2013 13"

Yes that’s correct!

But it doesn’t work on MBPr late 2013 11,3 because it has a dGPU. Then you’ll need Chris his Kepler gpu app / script. I can confirm later this week!

How do I know my MBP is the 11,3 and confirm the dGPU? My graphics card is just Intel Iris 1536 MB. Processor 2,4GHz dual-core intel core i5. I think the model is A1502. Thanks for the help!

Edit: I looked up system report and the model identifier is: macbookpro 11,1

Apple logo left top > about this mac> specs

There you can also see your graphics card(s). 11,3 has iGPU and dGPU. dGPU = GT 750M
Thanks! I looked it up and my model identifier is 11,1, not 11,3. I don't have GT 750M, I have intel iris 1536 MB (if I understood it right what the GT thing means)

WEG boot args not working on this legacy MacBook unfortunately. At least wegnoegpu to disable all external GPUs. So forcing the iGPU is not possible this way.

I’ll confirm later if the the Kepler drivers install through your app / script was successful!

Yes! Good for you! Wish I had bought that cheaper version back then.
So it works? Awesome! Just to clarify: I should just follow the tutorial in the beginning of the thread, but when I make the bootable usb I'll download the latest version? Thank you very much!

Ok, one last question if you don't mind: what is this EFI thing in the process of creating the bootable usb? Should I just skip it and use the file you linked with the regular process of creating the usb? Sorry if I'm bothering but I'm really confused by this EFI thing

You should read a little about it.
Every drive in Mac has a hidden partition called EFI. Its utilized at boot. You can mount the EFI of your install drive through terminal. sudo diskutil list. There you see all drives. Be careful to mount the right one from your install drive / usb.
sudo diskutil mount YOURDISKNR (disk…s..)
You can find lot of this on the web
