Why is there so much hate in this thread? Why does everyone else care how much ram op installed and how much he payed. He got it because he needs it, simple as that. I use up all my ram in my MBP and Mac Pro all the time.
So how about MBPro from June 2007. I have 4gb. Is it possible to upgrade to 8gb? (Apple states somewhere that 6gb is maximum.)
there are problems reported with people using 8gb. Some say it will boot fine, but once you use more than 4gb of the RAM it starts to have a lot of problems. 6 GB seems to work just fine.

Other than the outrageous price, I am wondering if you will see the issues that the Late 2008 uMBP's had with 8gig. Yes, it recognized it, but it made the system incredibly unstable.
You'd think Apple would have offered it on the high-end systems if it was supported.
Ha..
Congratulations on wasting a hell of a lot of money on bragging rights.
Hope that unused RAM dont get too cold.. It'll likely freeze with your use.

I run software on my Macs (Mac Pro with 32GB, MacBook Pro with 8GB and MacBook Air with 4GB) where it's easy to push a single application to use up all available ram. No matter how much ram I buy.
This is hardcore content creation software like Maya, Nuke, SoftImage, etc. The tools artists use to create films, music, art, etc. to feed the likes of you... ie. users, media addicts. More Ram makes our tools faster. Which means it can be worth the investment.
People like you and CompanionCube are ignorant of what it can take to create content. Please stay out of these threads and leave the real work to professionals. Go play with PhotoBooth or something.![]()
QUESTION: Why is it that 8gb is $75 I just ordered off NewEgg but 16gb is $1000+ Isn't that kind of crazy??
**** just got real!
I appreciate the work you big boys do with RAM - I do HPC so the supercomputer does all the hard work I just type stuff into terminal

I was wondering the same thing. These people need to calm down.
Btw, I see that you have the 2.3GHz 17" MBP AND a dual-CPU Mac Pro - WHY DID YOU THROW AWAY SO MUCH MONEY!?!?

believe it or not, $1600 on RAM may not be that expensive to some people. I had high school classmates drive high end Lincoln Navigators, Ferraris, Porsches, Jaguars, etc to school everyday at just 16 years of age. They'll even spend 10 grand on a plane ticket without thinking about it. $1600 on RAM is nothing to them.
why does he open up a useless thread trying to show off the stupid amount of $$ he spent on ram? if you want that much ram gr8 for you. We don't need a thread for it.

Just finished swapping the sticks. I can confirm that these babies work perfectly. System can recognize them and CS5 suite/vm can use them.
OWC's 16GB ram is from Samsung. The stock ram is from Hynix.
So far I'm free of trouble, I will report here if anything wrong happens in the future.
To inform the rest of us, who might be interested, that the system will recognize and utilize 16gb of ram![]()
he made a thread to let people know that the owc 16gb is compatible and working![]()
there has been threads about that before.
