please...

... and another "please", don't put wimax in the worlds greatest laptops. It would be an equal technological mistake as to put a HD DVD player in a "next gen" console...

now how can apple still put this up now??

"The new, more powerful MacBook Pro.
The latest Intel processor, a bigger hard drive, plenty of memory, and even more new features all fit inside just one liberating inch. The new MacBook Pro has the performance, power, and connectivity of a desktop computer. Without the desk part"

" Even higher performance.
The "new", blazing Intel Core 2 Duo processors run at speeds up to 2.6 GHz."

Now the real speculation....

Begins.

When people were arguing about new MPBs I was just like meh, wait until Intel says when we get the chip. Everything else is moot. But gee if that thread didn't go rampaging on even without the Intel announcement.

Bizarre.

So now we have a chip announcement. Do we know when Apple gets a decent allotment? That will determine the final product release.

Alright, let's get back to ignoring the Montevina chip and speculate on when the new laptops will be out with Blu-Ray, laser beams, etc. Oh and which Tuesday in July they will be out. :p

Because only geeks know that a new processor was released. "Normal" people will probably never notice. It is still a "Intel 2" and this is enough for people :) .. Just marketing.

I wouldn't be surprised to see an Apple 'media event' late next month; followed by a scheduled shipment in September (post back-to-school promotion).
That sounds reasonable. New iPods too. I'd like to see GPS in the Touch, but I doubt it will happen.

I'm waiting for the MacBookPro to have an easily replaced hard drive like in the MacBook. Curved edges would probably leave even less room inside a MBP.
If they remove the optical drive they'd have more room for things people use often. Though this is inevitable, but I think it will happen after the next case revision in 2-3 years.

Well?
He said when pigs fly not get photoshopped wings.

And including that combo drive on a $1300 computer is enough to drive anyone crazy. Who sells combo drives even on $500 computers?
It's the $1100 model that has a combo drive. It's been rumored that this low-end model is designed for education centers which is why it has that drive, but since you can still burn CDs I don't get it. BTW, Being more expensive doesn't mean you have to have best every aspect of a cheaper product. I'd wager that most people buying the cheapest Apple notebook probably aren't much for DVD burning.

What is wrong with it?

With the education discount, I bought a customized $1300 Macbook. It did not have a combo drive. And BTW, I've heard plenty of rumors that the combo drive costs Apple more than a superdrive, and they simply the model to force people to buy a level up.

No new books from Apple yet

Sheesh! The stores are still full with lines outside - no way are they gonna add product to the floor. They never advertise what chip is inside anyway... they want to use up the massive supply they have, let that peter out, bring in the new later. Hope they don't fudge it up!

this is stupid, but they both have a dvd burner right?

I think most of us are in agreement that any update just needs to come out before school (while the itouch promo is going on)

That's what I'm hoping for. Really hoping for a Macbook update before September, new case or not... Although, I've been wondering if updated machines would be excluded from the free iPod offer. Thoughts?

I thought i read somewhere that the next GMA was delayed and only Nvidia/ATI cards would be shipping with this platform?

But on the other hand... what better time to refresh a product and have it on display when your store is more full than ever?

jesus christ is apple fanboys pathetic..... saying that bluray, hdmi and all of that doesnt fit into a 1inch enclosure when sony can fit that and dual SSDs in their 13.1 inch macbook air counterpart. Wow....

This costs $1100 and does not have a DVD burner. Customize it and you're talking $1300-$1400 easy! And yet it does not have a DVD burner!

so its only a cd burner? omg i cant believe this! even a $300 laptop has a dvd burner now days

does anybody know when blu-ray and HD iSight is coming?

Unless Steve Jobs or some Apple engineers are reading these forums, the answer is no.

Why must everyone ask? This is a rumor site, nothing is confirmed. The best someone could give you is a guess, and that doesn't help at all.
