Really? You will rather wait several months for a laptop you're spending ~2k for in order to save on software that's going to cost you a whopping 29.99?

Nooo I was asking if its worth waiting. It would only be 30 bucks??

Just remember that your timing was good in the first place. Lion should be here around June. You won't have to upgrade.

Lion is only slated for "summer" which could very well mean a launch as late as early September.

Really?
Then is it possible that whit lion there Will be an other update for the mbp?
I mean nit the one in (maybe) April but one after that one?

'Cause I'll need/want one for collage next year… (sept.-okt. 2011)

Something much more custom would have to be between Intel and Apple but I find it highly unlikely.

LightPeak was brought to Intel by Apple, which makes it at least "possible" that Intel will give Apple some room on designing the first chipset, which will most likely be in a Mac. Never know.

Apple doesn't generally launch a new MBP alongside a new OS.

Now I don't know f I should wait for the new one or just buy the current ones with the new processors. Or just keep my with the C2D processor. Decisions, decisions.

Christ. I was hoping for the refresh before the end of Feb so I can pick up a 15"........ argh.

That's to late :(
Than that mean I will be sitting in college for 4 monds whit no mbp :(

I'm gonna need a lot of pations…

Rather a company own up to a mistake now before it gets to end consumers. That being said, he SuperDrive in the 2007 aluminum died last week. I with you. I want a new iMac.:(

I guess my problem with that point of view is suggesting there is any altruism in this move. They have to recall, or face class action lawsuits, and then recall. Its a cover-your-ass move you have to make when you screw up. Same as Toyota recalling their cars. Granted, no one dies when your cpu blows. That being said, I think Intel is a great company and continue to innovate beyond their competition, this what happens when you are working in uncharted territory.

so my brand new quad core i5 iMac is fine?

ya so i had to replace this machine once because of a screen flaw. Fortunately my warranty was reset in november when they gave me the new machine. Am I going to get a recall notice for this machine?

I'm seeing people say the Updated Quadcore iMac uses first iteration of the i5 but I could have sworn I read that intel was dolling out the newer i5 and i7's for this iMac update. They got an exclusive pre release of the chipset or something. I could be wrong but thats what I remember reading.

so my question is... is the current iMac quad 2.8 going to be affected by this flaw?

If you buy a new one every year, buy now.

If you want a new laptop to last several years, and your current laptop is mostly meeting your needs - wait.

No macs currently have the chipset.

Treat it with love, purchase applecare, and you can get 6 years out of it, sure.
But if you want 6 years out of it... Wait for Sandybridge. You'll thank me later.
