The problem with this ad is that the dongle issue has nothing to do with the processor.

This would be a good ad for Lenovo or Dell or HP. But for Intel?

It is as if Japan Display would make an ad about the iPhone not running Android.

Can I get a count on how many apple fanboys are now mad at Intel.
Lol, well I don’t know about all that… but starting with you, I’m now counting a new breed: the “intel fanboy”.
The count seems to have peaked at 1. 😬
The new Intel CEO is loony!
“Fix” Intel by a disingenuous smear campaign against what was one of their biggest customers until like 4 months ago?
Ummm…. ok.

As someone with a 16-inch MacBook Pro and an M1 MacBook Air: please Apple, end donglegate.

These ads are pretty desperate considering Intel Macs are still on sale that need dongles, and a lot of Windows PCs require dongles as well.

What's strange here is that the M1 vs Intel has nothing to do with dongles. Neither is the laptop/tablet combo vs laptop + iPad an M1 vs Intel thing. SO it's a weird approach for an ad to say the least.

But no matter what, the lack of ports was a huge mistake. Glad to hear they are probably coming back in the new redesigns later this year.

Wow! Complete cry baby move by Intel, this smells of pure desperation. I have the M1 Mac mini and I understand why they’re scared cause it’s really good and I can’t believe it was that cheap.

I guess the calm before the M1x storm... Intel not even showing an M1 mac in their ad, here's an old apple pen and some cables... very desperate...

I know there's a lot of mixed opinion on this, but I'd still like to see a MacBook with a touch screen that flips into tablet mode. Big Sur seems to have been made to allow for a decent touch interface, so let's make it happen!

This whole "handful of dongles" thing is so old and disproven.
There are so many USB-C hubs available with anything from 4 to 10 different ports in them.
One "dongle". Just one. That's all people need.
If this is the best they can do, Intel are showing nothing but their own desperation. It's pathetic.

Not to mention that most people don't need any dongles at all.

Won't happen. Get an iPad.

I don't care about Apple fanboys, this criticism is spot on. While there is no need to put a VGA port in there, its also too lacking to have only USB-C on a PRO laptop/desktop.

It won't kill them to add SD card, USB-A, headphone jack, and HDMI. I would like ethernet too but I am dropping it just because it will add much thickness to the device, but that is no issue on desktops.

Aren't there FTC rules again's Justin's opening? "Just a real person" as if Justin did this for free? Hell no, this is a paid spokesperson just like he was paid to schill for Apple back in the day. For 100 grand a spot, I'd crap on any company you want me to crap on. I'll still own a Mac at home but if you want me to say windows is better and you're going to pay me, I'm all in!

Am I missing something? Is he a cyborg sent back through time, rather than a real person?

Last time I was in an Apple store, an employee met with me about my AirPods Pro defect. At one point another employee brought her a keychain of dongles to connect it to the Mac that looked just like that picture.

Why would an Apple employee whose job description includes troublshooting hardware be carrying multiple dongles?

Hmmmm, if only there was a reason.

The new Intel ads with Justin Long are interesting to say the least. Sure he was the "Mac" in the old Apple Mac vs. PC campaign. However, the type of customer who would even likely be swayed by Justin Long isn’t going to care what processor architecture their laptop has. The massive battery life and performance on M1 MacBooks are not going to be overshadowed by this kind of posturing by Intel. If I had to guess I think the M1 has Intel really concerned. Especially when doing a commercial like this when they are still a partner of Apple. It reeks of fear and desperation to me.

Intel needs to be more worried about WinARM overtaking Intel. Sure it's still a few years away, but as more Wintel apps are ported over it will encroach on Intel's market share. That and Apple must have Intel worried.

They get credit in terms of advertising, it’s a good job by Intel. Apple’s M1 chip smokes theirs (notice none of the commercials talk about the chip specs and gains?) they do a good job of appealing to the average consumer. That's about it and when it comes down to it, if this sways them they were probably going to buy a Windows machine anyways and this just sealed the deal.

M2 = RIP intel
they are worried, and so they should be the M1 is a beast of a chip...
As for Dongles... thats a joke, as others have all ready said, you only need 1 hub,
and that is way better than having loads of connectors coming out of your Laptop.

These ads reek of desperation but I do feel Apple deserves the ridicule when it comes to their dongles
Why do you think so?

ill be the first to admit that dongles suck ass. but why is it Apples fault that people are stuck in their old ways of using outdated tech or trying to use their tech the wrong way?

I hate how my iMac doesn’t include a super drive anymore. But at the end of the day, I never used it anymore. Instead of wasting space inside the machine that other components could use for a IO that no one uses anymore, they got rid of it and the 3% of people out there can buy a super drive dongle.

MacBooks, or any laptops, are not meant to be a workstation with the IO selection of a fully loaded desktop workstation. They are a portable lite version of that to help take some work on the go for convenience. With great convenience, comes significant sacrifice.

I’m not trying to argue about this, I’m just genuinely curious why people feel the need to buy dongles because I’ve never exahad this problem.
ive had to buy adapters before for specific situations, but I didn’t blame Apple for it.

In college, i wanted to show a keynote presentation and use my Apple remote with it to go to the next slide. Since they had a Pc setup, I had to buy a hdmi adapter for my MacBook Pro.
Is it apples fault for not having an hdmi output on my MacBook? Or is it the schools fault for not having an Apple computer or a thunderbolt port/mini display port on their projector for me to plug into without an adapter?
It goes both ways. It was my personal choice to use a Macintosh to make my keynote instead of Microsoft PowerPoint. It was my personal choice to want to use a remote to change the slides.
in the end, it didn’t matter to me because going out of my way to do that paid off. I got the best grade for that project and made everyone else look like chumps.

Gotta these shots in before the new M1X laptops, with the return of diverse I/O ports, drop within a month.

This is like a bad break up at this point.

Apple will just speed up the M1 transition at this point so might as well go full steam ahead. Looking forward to the new iMac.

Yes, Apple did remove so many ports from their computers. But now that Jony Ives has been fired, this design blunder is being reversed. Maybe by the time the M2 chips areould Macs will be built for function over looks.
