I'm sure the Core2Duo lappys don't need this update 'cause they probably already have this firmware.

Dear God I hope so.

It appears it may just have fixed it. I just booted into XP and for the first time I got to see the ugly Windows progress bar, I usually got a black screen until the desktop popped up. I had to install XP with an old CRT I had lying around fyi.

You know, I wasn't going to do this update because I haven't had a single problem with my Macbook. BUT I thought well I just should.

I use istatpro widget to monitor cpu temps before the update 34 C

now it's running at 46 C! WTF! It also says fans are n/a also. Did this update wipe out the control to the fans, now it will overheat my Macbook?

Can I go back to an older Firmware?

34C uhhhhhh!@?!!! :\

anyone else get an insanely loud noise just before the instal?

Sweet... i'm going to give it a try here... one last time. I've had enough of these bootcamp issues. I can't even get windows installed on my Mac Pro.. fed up.

*crosses fingers* here we go.

Yeah I think I got the same ridiculously loud noise. I followed the instructions that said hold the power button down until the sleep light started flashing and then this huge "BEEP" came out of the laptop and I jumped backward.

That's awesome! I was waiting for that because I don't have another external display.

doesn't make any difference here... just the HUGE BEEP that was scary!
i was like... "oh my gosh! now what!?! (then the gray screen comes up) poor mini!"

but it was smoothly... and now it's running perfect as usual.

Hope this fixes me breakfast. And fixes my screen flash on display wake (MBP) and occasional freeze on wake from sleep problems.

Hey, slightly OT, but does it make sense to anyone else that it should be possible to tell the laptops to shut down, then close the lid and not have them go to sleep halfway through the shutdown process?

Yup, I can confirm the 23" ACD and ATI Card Issue is fixed!!

I had to install Windows with a 19"TFT, but getting the 23" was a job to get working.

WOOO!

Intel iMac fixes?

Anyone know if it fixes the problem where iMacs won't wake up with ARD? I have a classroom and sometimes a few don't wake when I try to connect from Remote Desktop.

Firmware update killed my MacBook Pro

Panic. I installed the firmware, the little bar was moving across the screen, and then halfway across -- the computer shut down. Now my screen is dead, I can't tell if the hard drive is functioning, my restore CD is 20 miles away, and I'm scared witless. WTF?!?!?!

Suggestions?

I'm too chicken to install it, just like the SMC firmware update for the fans. I've had no problems at all with my MacBook (purchased in May) so I know it will screw something up. I know nobody cares but for some reason I wanted to post it. :(

This was exactly what I was thinking! But I did it anyway. 93 deg. F to 114 deg. F.
